Fumo Upper West
A consistent dining experience with very good food and great service. Please don’t ever close!
Italian dishes, including pizzas and pasta, with a full bar, in a casual setting.
Excellent menu...great choices...huge portions...wonderful service
A welcome addition to the UWS where there a still too few good restaurants. Wood-fired pizza and generous bowls of pasta. Haven't tried the meat or fish mains. Not high-end Italian cuisine but perfectly fine and affordable fare, attentive service. I wish it success.
The menu is straightforward--Italian fare with some American standards. But everything is prepared with such care that even a simple dish, like chicken with vegetables, is a delight. They make a first-class gluten-free pizza and they even have good non-dairy cheese, something of a miracle. It's become a go-to place for me, especially for lunch, a real neighborhood gem. Highly recommended.
Fumo is the best!! Great service, food and staff. Highly recommend.
Fumo is my new go-to place in the neighborhood. The food is consistently good, there are enough options for everyone, and the staff is always friendly and helpful!
Always excellent food and service. A favorite go to spot for all occasions!!
What you euphemistically call "Energetic" for noise level, barely covers it at Fumo UWS. In the main room the noise was so loud we had to shout across a small table to be heard, and I ended up with a sore throat by night's end. If you go, and you should, because the food and service were really very good, ask for their side/back room, where I think it might be quieter. If weather permits, maybe sit out in their small sidewalk-terrace area. We will go again, but will ask for the back room and hope for a better experience.
The food and people where great
It was great experience. Amazing prices for lunch and the place was decorated beautifully. The baked ziti was great!
Overall we love this place. Amazing food. I have reviewed it on yelp with a glowing review. This past time the food took a very very long time to arrive. When your with two small children this can be very challenging. Even the bread that we asked for three times took way to long to arrive. That should be places very fast when you see two kids at the table. They did bring the pizza for the kids pretty fast, which was good. But then the kids were all done eating and losing their ability to sit and us parents did not get our main meals yet.
Very comfortable and nicely designed restaurant with very tasty fresh food. My friend and I sat at our table for almost five hours chatting away and we were never rushed or made to feel as if we overstayed our welcome. Highly recommended restaurant!
Service needs the catch up with the food! Then it’ll be on point
NOISY!!!!! We sat in the front room on a weekday night and it was hard to have a conversation. There is a back room. I don't know if it would be any better. Food and service were excellent though. I would go back and try the other room.
Recently found Fumo and have visited several times in the last few weeks. Always good food (take-out or in-house) and hasn't disappointed. Recommend to all my friends who live in the area and even those looking for delicious Italian.
Friendly waiter, amazing food and great environment
Wait staff and hostess treat me like family! Love this place!
The food was excellent. The service was fair. The noise level was horrible. It was impossible to hold a conversation. They could make changes to help alleviate this situation
Great food staff great but they need more people. The pastas and pizzas are phenomenal and the branzino with a side of spinach was amazing !!
Excellen meal and service every time. Try the fried artichokes and eggplant parmigiana. Delicious and owner is wonderful.
First time visit and I'll definitely go back. Great depth of flavor in the rigatoni with sausage. Waiter was pleasant and helpful. Were there on half price wine night, but the first two bottles we ordered were out of stock. Had a very good Rioja, though, so not disappointed. I'm interested to go back and try the pizza. Definitely on the list now for solid dining on the Upper West Side.
Great addition to the neighborhood. Nice atmosphere. Fun place to dine. Excellent food and good value.
The food at FUMO Is straightforward--but expertly done. I had marinated chicken with sautéed vegetables, nothing complicated, but it was done perfectly. Well-seasoned, plentiful, exactly what I wanted. The pizzas are great too, and they actually have a gluten-free and dairy-free pizza that is first-class. The place can get boisterous in the front room; I've taken to eating in the back area which is quieter. It has become a go-to place, especially for lunch. Nice ambiance; great service; excellent, healthy food.
noise level was intolerable for anyone not a millenial. And this was on a weeknight at 9pm. NOthing to absorb sound anywhere - no tableclothes, only hard surfaces, the Maitre D' was talking to me from 12" away and I couldn't hear him. We'll try once more, because the food was excellent, but WHY are all restaurants like this now?
This was my second time at Fumo in a week and the people I was with and I all loved it both times. The atmosphere is lovely and the pasta excellent. There was also a great happy hour deal at the table and we had a very nice wine for a low price. Excellent, friendly service. We will be going back!
The food is excellent and a great value. The service is friendly and attentive. The only drawback is the noise level. My guess is that that it’s a simple issue of acoustics in the main dining area. The ceiling just seems to reflect noise even though people weren’t being particularly noisy. This didn’t however ruin a great meal at a great restaurant. Just a caveat.
We had a 6:15 res and it was quite busy. The only complaint we had was the noise level — quite high, but everything else was good. Happy to have them in the ‘hood
Had a wonderful experience with Regina for my boyfriend’s birthday. The food was excellent, everyone left happy and buzzed because of the bottomless mimosas. Our table was ready as soon as we got there. The ambiance was great... several times we found ourselves saying that we wished our apartment had the same aesthetic.
Consistent neighborhood Gem We love coming here! Food is fresh and feels homemade
This is my 5th time going with my girlfriend, the food is great and so is the service.
We did not have pasta or pizza and were trying to eat a healthy meal. With this in mind it is a hard menu to order from and I should have read the menu better. What we did order was fair to good.
The Romaine salad was cut up romaine with dressing and cheese, too plain in composition and flavors. The shrimp, we ordered as an optional extra for the salad was perfectly cooked and seemed to have a light coating of sauce which was not mentioned and had a bbq type flavor that did not match my expectations for the salad.
The pork chop special was delicious as were the veggies it was served with - a good neighborhood fallback for when you don’t feel like cooking.
Our server was attentive and had warmth and playful flair.
I am visiting after relocating to Ireland. A friend recommended Fumo. Both food and service were outstanding!! Nothing was rushed, yet our server was brilliantly attentive.
My only complaint would be the noise level. Not the place for an intimate conversation. However, the quality of the dining makes up for it. My advice, talk before and after Fumo. While there, enjoy the food!!!!
Great place for a date or to bring the family. The food is great and the owner is a gracious host.
Good food and service. Much too noisy and crowded!
I want to rate the food higher because it was excellent for most of the table. I ordered my entree specifically with “Super Light Cream” instruction s and it was swimming in cream and way too much butter. I got home with a very upset stomach. By then it had been an hour since we’d ordered so I was tired and as I was dining with my elderly father I couldn’t wait for the food to be redone. It ruined my evening.
Great addition to the neighborhood, food was great and they make awesome cocktails.
We always enjoyed the food here-service slower and restaurant noisier than usual (probably due to crowd fir Mother’s Day)
Service was great especially considering the Mother's Day rush. Food was really excellent and I like the creative take on traditional Italian food. Servers were really nice and handled our party of 7. My family like it and we will probably return.
