Founding Farmers - Reston
Kind of bummed. I really have always enjoyed but bar couldn’t make the julep they used to have on the menu. Side of Mac and cheese was really small for the kids and chicken risotto was over salted and prim rib cut was overly fatty. All in all they’ve done much better in the past.
As usual, Founding Farmers provides a reliable, relatively affordable meal in a laid back setting. Staff was attentive and professional.
Please add the biscuits and sausage gravy to you Sunday brunch
I absolutely adore Founding Farmers in Reston. I am a vegetarian and go there for their very vegetarian friendly menu - especially the Impossible Burger. Had never been to the brunch buffet and decided to try it today.
While it was okay, I don’t think it reflected the abilities of the restaurant. There was not a vegetarian entree. While the cheese ravioli could have been, it was finished with a Bolognese sauce. If there were eggs, they were not openly displayed. Items were not identified with ingredient signs.
One felt that buffet was not properly staffed with dishes not refilled or just not there although a sign indicated their position. There was ice cream although no server was available.
At one point, we both returned to the buffet at the same time and returned to find our table cleared and washed with a menu in place. Our waiter apologized and brought all new utensils and drinks.
I love this restaurant and will return every chance I get. However, if this had been my introductory visit, it would not have left me with the same desire to return.
Our family went for the Sunday Brunch. It was an outstanding experience. The food was amazing! We can tell how much love was in the food, we could taste it.
The service was great. We celebrated my wife’s birthday and the waitress was very sweet, she brought my wife a delicious donut with a candle.
It was our first time at the Sunday Brunch and not our last. All three of us give two thumbs up to the Founding Farmers in Reston, VA.
Brittney was as outstanding as ever. The food was great! Not a big fan of the crowds. Don't know why the brunch is now limited to one day. It's what set Founding Farmers above everyone else .
Definitely not your average brunch buffet. Great selection of items that suit whatever you're in the mood for - breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The price is a little high - $32.95 per person (all you can eat) currently. BUT, the food was really good... so... still worth going on occasion!
A little rowdy - two very needy tables on each side of us - but food excellent. Will go back.
I ended up going here two nights in a row. First night ahi tuna followed by catfish special. Both excellent with perfectly cooked veg. Second night impossible burger, which was decent. Fast friendly service. Good beer. It is destined to be my Reston go-to restaurant.
Food was very fresh and tasty...there was plenty of variety. Freshly squeezed orange juice is quite expensive for a very small glass you get. Our first visit was overall a very good one and we enjoyed our experience/meal. Our waitress was not very good or helpful, and I noticed the same experience with other tables around us that she was servicing, but despite that we look forward to another visit at some point soon. Thank you.
The buffet brunch is the reason you go here in the weekend. There is no longer the buffet option on Saturday therefore there is not a reason to go on Saturday.
I usually love Founding Farmers for dinner, but the brunch was not great and 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered were very disappointing.
Felt very rushed. They were cleaning up , refilling salt and pepper, etc. It was just 9pm. Not interested in making our meal experience great. Staff focused on getting out of there.
Waitresses were clueless, had no idea about wines, theres no white wine on Menu from. Italy, had no idea about history of FF, #'s on silverware, i think interesting, we had to ask for bread plates, one meal not cooked, redone then came to table when everyone had finished their meal, manager did come to table to address all the problems , i was entertaining out of town guest. Wait staff needs more training!!!!!
Thank you, Michele for sharing your review with us. I am super sorry to read about the lackluster service you encountered and also that one meal was served improperly prepared. :( This said, I am relieved that a Manager was briefed of everything that happened and was involved with addressing our mishaps while you were with us. We really appreciate your patience with our shortcomings and really hope to have you back for another try soon! -Amy
We were looking forward to our first visit to Reston since we’re fans of the Tyson’s location. Everything was okay but nothing exceptional, especially for the price. The wait staff was very attentive (bordering on overly). Personally we’ll probably stick to brunch if we return.
Hooray! Thanks for celebrating with us and sharing your 5-STAR rating! :) -Amy
This was our first experience at the Reston restaurant. It was fabulous. The waiter was excellent and very patient as we waited for our full party. He was very attentive throughout our meal. The meal was awesome. Everybody was pleased with their choices. The bread was fresh and delicious. Overall excellent and we will be back.
Thank you, Gail for sharing your wonderful review with us! We really appreciate it and hope to have you back for many more enjoyable visits! :) -Amy
Nice brunch, but not worth the high price. Good food but nothing special. Service was very good but took way too long to get an order of pancakes and eggs Benedict. And small order. You would think the server would ask “one egg or two.” Air conditioning wasn’t working very well either.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I am really sorry to read that your brunch experience left little to be desired and overall, failed to give you true bang for your buck. :/ Our Team appreciates you letting us know these details and we hope to have you back for another try sometime soon! Please call us at 703-988-7333 for any future reservation help needed. -Amy
Awful service. Completely awful service. The waitress was barely present. Plates stacked. This was a brunch buffet. Not worth the $32. Would not recommend.
Although Britney's unwavering service skills kept a smile on my face, I was disappointed in the lack of choices. I paid the same price for the buffet and couldn't change it up or add to it. I know it's not a buffet but I shouldn't have to wait for 40 min for food that's warm, at best. I used to plan Bday parties and meetings at Founding Farmers because of the brunch on Saturdays. Sundays, me and mine are busy at church or other family activities. I cannot justify planning these events for an alicart menu, when put together can be vas much as the buffet
The first two cups we were served were dirty. When the second one arrived we just cleaned it out since it took so long to get the first one replaced. The food took about 25 minutes to arrive, which seemed unreasonably long for Eggs Benedict (I ordered mine with ham, my date, with tomato and spinach). However, we were both willing to wait for good food, so pleasant conversation kept us going. What was a problem was that the food, when finally served, was cold, which meant it had been waiting to be picked up for at least 10 minutes. I think they need more wait staff since it was hard to find our server. I'd heard lots of great things about Founding Farmers and, sadly, it just didn't live up to expectations. A $35 breakfast should be hot and delicious. Mine was cold and just kind of average. I will probably try another location just to give the chain a fair shot, but I don't see myself ever coming back to this one.
Thomas, I am very sorry to read that your buffet brunch visit was a total disappointment and many aspects- the food & service, fell short this time. :( I am equally bummed to know that this experience did not warrant a return, and with that acknowledged, would love to touch base to hopefully turn around your lasting impression. This said, I will send you a PM to hopefully connect. -Amy
They no longer offer buffet brunch on Saturday. We were very disappointed by this as we'd brought guests or that reason.
I am so sorry that our change in our brunch service on Saturday left you disappointed. :( Truth be told- some of our fans were missing our "a la carte" menu on the weekend more than loving our buffet brunch. Of course- with that said, we did want to satisfy everyone and opt'd to serve our a la carte menu on Saturday & our Farmers Market Buffet Brunch on Sunday. Of course, we really hope to have you back for another try and I will send you a PM with my email address to stay in touch. -Amy
A/C was out and it was very, very hot. Did not get food for over 30 or 40 minutes, Manager talked to us after asking for him two times.
Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so so sorry to read that the restaurant was too hot for enjoyment, and your food was slow to be delivered. :( We appreciate you letting us know your disappointment while dining with us, and giving us the chance to turn your experience around. Our team does hope to have you back for another try soon and please call us at (703) 988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
We had excellent service, our server was awesome. Great food and atmosphere. We didn’t feel like the restaurant was super kid friendly because there were no kids menus. But we will definitely be back for an adult only evening.
We went for the 4th of July brunch. Service was extremely slow with our server disappearing for extended periods while we were out of drinks. The food was pretty good although the grits were completely unseasoned. Cocktails were great as always, although also extremely slow given the restaurant was only half full. It was a holiday, so we were happy overall with that in mind.
Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry that service was slow and at times, MIA during your brunch experience with us on 4th of July. Please know, our Management Team has read your feedback and will be following up with our team that worked this past Thursday. We hope to have you back for another visit soon and please call us at (703) 988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Disappointing experience. We have been to Farmer's many times over the years but on this occasion the food was unnecessarily slow to come out. We waited over an hour for two, run of the mill breakfasts. The restaurant wasn't even busy. No apology for the wait either.
Thank you, Biffy for sharing your review with us. I am super sorry to read that your experience this time was disappointing and your food took some time to be delivered. We appreciate you letting us know, and our Management Team will look into this with our Culinary Team that worked on July 4th. We do hope to have you back for another try sometime soon and please call us at (703) 988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Problems in the kitchen. Waited an hour for our order (brunch). Wait staff was apologetic and anxious to please. Manager not as much. Thank goodness we ordered the bread basket starter or we would have starved. Other diners were upset - some gave up and left. When asked if there was anything they could do in the meantime I suggested maybe some free donuts from the bakery, which is separate from the kitchen. So they brought 2 donuts although there were 3 of us!
I am really sorry to read that our food delivery was slow paced during your experience with us on 4th of July. :( We appreciate you letting us know and I feel badly this happened. I would love to touch base and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Delicious brunch menu. Nice relaxing atmosphere especially on a hot summer day
-No salt/pepper on the table
-No bread for the table
-My 20+ dollar ribeye was 1/3 fat
-My "loaded" baked potato had a lot of sour cream and nothing else
-Dessert took 22 minutes to arrive at the table
Do not eat here.
Lunch at noon. Didn’t get our food until 1 pm. I do not have time for a 2 hour lunch.
Karin, I am so sorry to read that your lunch visit with us was slow-paced and it took some to receive your order. We feel badly this happened, and our Management Team will follow up with our staff that worked this past Wednesday. Thank you for letting us know and we do hope to have you back for another try soon! -Amy
Tried the spicy fried chicken salad. Chicken was unbelievably dry. Also, our party drove two cars and the validation only worked for one car, so I had to pay $4.50 for parking for a 1-hour meal.
Our waiter was excellent and recommended great choices for dinner. The desserts were delicious (cheesecake and bread pudding). I have been to Founding Farmers for brunch several times but never for dinner, and I was not disappointed. Amazing!
Our service was attentive via our waitress and the assisting manager. The table enjoyed the bacon date appetizer we ordered. All entries were flavorful. Always a treat visiting this establishment.
Everything is consistently good at this restaurant, but every time I go they are out of the Impossible Burger or meatloaf or both, it’s a let down.
Enjoyed every thing.only one small negative. The cornbread was not as warm as usual.which means I had to reach to find something wrong . Thank you!
Saw many new faces and was introduced to a few of them. Our host, Jaliecsa, was excellent! Very engaging and persuasive. Talked me into the mini donuts on display. The food was delicious and the Farmers tea seems to keep getting better. Ceyara's presence and smile is always a joy to behold. Oh yeah, the hair is on point
I would recommend the restaurant to everyone. The food is great, ambiance is fantastic, but I would recommend them to ask for the name of their waiter or waitress, because, my friend and I waited for close to 10 mins for someone to approach our table and no one came by. I had to go back to the hostess stand to ask who our server was going to be. Now if they were busy, I would not say a word. But they were in between service. Other than that hiccup. Everything else went smoothly. Make sure to get a reservation before going.
This was the first bad experience I have ever had at a FF location. It wasn't super busy but our waiter clearly forgot about us, he had to come back and ask us to remind him what our order was and he still got it totally wrong. We had to send back the pimento cheese biscuits because they were hard on top and under cooked on the bottom. My mushroom pappardelle, the pasta was half cooked.
I didnt looknto see if it is a brand new location, but I was just there Tuesday and had wonderful food and service, so Saturday night surprised me. I will still go back, but maybe not to Reston.
Casey, thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so sorry for the disappointments in both the food & service you encountered this time, and we appreciate you letting us know. This said, I would love the chance to touch base and will send you a PM with my contact info. -Amy
Service was terrible. Waitress was not attentive and forgot multiple orders
