Founding Farmers - Reston
Upon a strong recommendation we treated a friend for her birthday so we were really hoping that the entire experience would live up to our expectations. It did! We splurged & each of had that spicy fried chicken with the macaroni & cheese & the glazed donut. Wow! the food, the service, the atmosphere & the value were all remarkable. We appreciated the parking validation as well.
Service was great!
Sabrina provided such a welcoming personality and excellent service. Glad to see Christine, Ceyera, and the others. The food was great, but it took some time to get to, because it was a sizable crowd.
Food was surprisingly fantastic! Atmosphere was better than expected. They were quite busy but the wait wasn’t unpleasant. Bar was crowded. Service was very friendly and helpful.
Come on, they have fried chicken and donuts. What’s not to like?
Hi SethB: We could not agree more!! ;) Thank you for the scrumptious review and we hope to have you back for another Fried Chicken & Donut meal soon. -Amy
The dishes all had interesting twists. My particular favorite was the Patty Melt burgher; very unique presentation (and tasty too!).
So happy the Impossible Burger is back in stock! The cherry pie a la mode was scruptious. Anyone taking the Reston Metro is lucky to have Founding Farmers at their stop.
Great food selection and quality. Service was friendly and efficient but not rushed. High celings and a large open space diminish some of the ambience and increase noise level some. Cocktails were graT except for the nutmeg in the “painkiller “. Parking was backed up at the valet. Skip it and park in the metro garage.
Went for Restaurant Week - previously when one couldn’t eat dessert they gave a $10 gift card. Now they give a card dood only for a dessert and that must be used within a month. What are they thinking!? Makes me question any future decisions to eat there.
Hi Miki: I am SO sorry for the disappointment from your visit, and feel badly for any confusion with our RW dessert promo! :( We still have the option for a dessert gift card if you choose not to have dessert- same as before, the $10 GC provided was for dessert during a future visit. This said, I am really sorry this visit left you not interested in returning and our team does hope you'll give us another try in the future! Please call us at 703-988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Great food, great service. Wait staff was very accommodating.
As always, the food (which is arguably the most important aspect of dining out) was outstanding. It was fresh and perfectly prepared. Founding Farmers is an excellent restaurant in terms of quality, casual upscale ambiance, and dining experience. My sincerest compliments to the chef. I’ll look forward to being there again soon.
Food was excellent. So was the service. Unfortunately, it was silly loud in the restaurant. Between the music and the general conversations, it was rather uncomfortable.
Went for a business lunch with colleagues. Our waitress was very nice and very accommodating. Our food came out very quickly. And everything was very delicious!
Enjoyed restaurant week specials.
The most difficult thing about eating at Founding Farmers is deciding what I'm going to have; everything on the menu sounds delicious. My food did not disappoint. The waiter was a bit overworked, dealing with several tables (including a large group), so it took several minutes to get his attention and ask for additional condiments, but he was apologetic and quick to make up for it. Definitely looking forward to returning.
Our experience was pleasant as always. We typically bring family visiting the DMV area for Sunday brunch to experience the natural organic food(s) offered. Our favorite FF for brunch is the Tyson location, but if reservations are booked we usually have luck at Reston. Our customer service was excellent. George was our waiter, and he ensured we were satisfied throughout our dining. We have two toddlers so he definitely exercised his patience. The ambiance is always nice with many windows, natural woods, and earthy colors. Another plus is the bathrooms are immaculate .
The food was delicious when available, the options are a bit different from Tyson’s, but the time it takes to refill dishes leaves room for improvement.
Overall good time. We will be back if Tyson’s is booked!
Quick service. Table for 8 ready in minutes for a brunch birthday. Server was helpful
The food on the buffet was cold. This is my 2nd visit and the food was cold the first time as well. The manager was nice and attempted to accomodste us, but we declined to have the meal comped as that was not our intention. We just wanted hot food. The price of the buffet is too high for that quality of food.
Our server was inattentive and the place wasn’t overly busy for a Saturday night. My food was horrible (risotto). The only one that was wowed was my son with his salmon.
I will not return.
The location and overall look and feel of the restaurant are great. However, the service and the food are pretty mediocre, and I think there are better places in Reston to go at a comparable price. When it came to drinks, they put bottles of water on the table upon arrival, so keeping water filled was mostly not a problem. But when it came to other drinks, it took a long time for them to come out after they were ordered (we were told the bar was backed up), and once our first round of drinks was close to finished - and even completely finished - we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. A friend of mine said she experienced the same issue. From a sheer business perspective, this is a huge profit loss for the company. The food was okay, it was fine but nothing notable or special about it. Also, when we ordered bread and butter (which is not complementary), we were told they were out of it, and it was only 7:00pm. Shortly thereafter, we heard the waitress tell the table next to us that they were out of cornbread. The place was pretty full but not too busy (no wait lines), so it was confusing as to why service was slow and they were running out of basic food items. Overall, we were not impressed.
We had a group of military friends who came into town from out of state to celebrate a promotion/leadership milestone . The service was fantastic, the food superb, and the ambiance pitch perfect . The Founding Farmers Reston team did a wonderful job creating a memorable evening for all 10 of us.
Our meal was well-prepared and quite tasty, with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, our waiter could not remember from one minute to the next that we were in a hurry (we had tickets to see Ringo at Wolftrap, 2 1/2 hours after we started dinner.) Every step of the meal required a separate request to our waiter.
I've been to the other founding farmers in the area and we booked this one for brunch while we couldn't get a table at Tysons. We were disappointed that they didn't have the brunch buffet at this location. The service wasn't too bad tableside, it was the host stand/hostesses that were not friendly. We have a large party and that took a while to all get there, they were rude about the delay. Which would have been understandable, however, the restaurant wasn't even busy. Ordering food was fine, the server was nice and prompt. The food itself, I would have to say was AWFUL. The mussels were overdone, the chicken was overdone and dry, the bread was dry and didn't seem fresh, and for someone that ordered a medium steak got one that was way well done - practically burned on one side. Overall experience was not good for our group and we don't think we will be coming back to this location. I'm bummed because FFs is one of my favorites and this location wasn't up to par.
Dear JimJam328: I am very sorry to read about the unsatisfactory brunch experience you had with us at our Reston Station Founding Farmers. Poor food & inhospitable service are both understandable reasons to be left disappointed, and I feel badly this was your takeaway from your time with us. :( That said, I would love to touch base and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Our server didn’t refill our beverages as much as she should have.
It was my friend’s birthday, and we were both thrilled with the food and the service. The restaurant is a treat for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. Great experience!
our waitress did provide the best Customer service ir care. very disappointing considering we have them on our favorite restaurant list. so sad!
Oh no! I am very sorry, Nina to read this and feel terrible for the disappointment we caused. :( I would love to know specifically what happened and will send you a follow up message with my contact info to hopefully continue this conversation. -Amy
Went for breakfast - food was average - we could tell that much of it was pre- made/assembled.
Thank you, Renee for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry that the quality was lacking during your breakfast visit and overall the food only considered average. :/ Our Culinary Team appreciates you letting us know these details and will follow up with our staff that worked 8.10. Of course, we would love to have you back for another try and please call us at 703-988-7333. -Amy
The parking garage isn’t great but they validate so that’s awesome! My order was wrong but the staff is super awesome and friendly. Great atmosphere and good food.
Sincere server, speedy service, good food.
Awww! Thank you for your review! We appreciate it and look forward to having you back soon. -Amy
The green chit chicken enchiladas were great
I love the selections at Founding Farmers. The only reason I do not frequent as much as I would like is that service seems very slow and during the week when I am in this area, lunch always takes an hour and 45 minutes to two hours before I am out the door. Evenings, I would love this, but lunch is difficult.
Create location, service and experience. Food was not as good as usual. Extremely salty
Always a great experience... whether on a date night with my wife or with the wife and kids. Will be in our rotation for a while.
Great food, excellent service, superior brunch!
The food was excellent as always and service was good. We had the Sunday Brunch and it was all wonderful!
My food didnot come out until 15 minutes after everyone else. House white wine $16. Food well priced but drinks rediculous prices.
Thank you, ANNIEB for sharing your review with us. I am real sorry to read that your meal was delivered later than your guests, and the drinks failed to give you real bang for your buck. :/ We appreciate you letting us know these details and our team will take what you shared into consideration & look into improvements needed in consistent delivery of our dishes. We do hope to have you back for another try soon and please call us at 703-988-7333 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Great Sunday brunch. Food is always tasty - especially the pancakes. Florentine Eggs Benedict was the best I have ever had.
Wow! Thank you, Peter for sharing your kind review with us. We really appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. :) -Amy
Service was spotty, waiter did not ask about refilling our drinks, food was not hot when delivered, forgot to return for check. Steak frites were just so-so, fries were cold. Chocolate ice cream was delicious.
It would have been helpful to know that the Baby Cheeseburgers came dressed with a mayo-like sauce and lettuce and tomato as these were ordered for kids. We wound up taking the mayo dressed side and only using half of the bun.
The bread for $5 was not worth the $5.
