Founding Farmers - DC
Food cold, service inattentive, value low
We started with the skillet corn bread and it did not disappoint. The pot roast is to die for! My boyfriend got the Mac and Cheese and he wasn’t a huge fan but it was still good. Overall, this place is amazing and we can’t wait to come back to try more things on the menu!
It was great
I dine at Founding Farmers anytime I am in DC. Their dishes are exceptionally good--and it's great to have locally sourced food. I am never disappointed!
Founding Farmers is a wonderful place to eat and take guests. Both of my colleagues were from Australia, and they had an outstanding experience.
Thank you for your excellent customer service, food, and overall fantastic experience.
We will be back again!!
The food is fantastic but the restaurant gets very busy and loud on the weekend
Our kids loved the breakfast options, our entrees were great, too. We made reservations but still had to wait about 30 mins, as they were running behind. Luckily we weren't in a rush. The menu would be PERFECT if they'd add refillable sodas!
My birthday and my daughter’s birthday
Even with a reservation we had to wait 30 minutes for our table. Food was ok, as you would expect for a brunch.
Although it was super crowded on a rainy Sunday, we had reservation and waited for just a small amount of time. Our waitstaff was courteous, friendly and capable. The food was quite tasty and we all enjoyed a lovely brunch!
In DC and wanted to have a quick breakfast on the way to DCA. It was a rainy day so I dropped off my family out front. Parking was much more difficult than expected due to rain so it took me about 10 minutes to return. The host would not allow my family to sit until the entire party was present. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! We were not a party of 10 with half of the people present. I would have left but the food is so good that I tolerated the poor customer service up front.
Hi PaulC: Oh no. I am very sorry to read this. When we are on a wait, it is true we request all party members are present in fairness to all guests waiting, HOWEVER this is always a request and I feel badly this was lost in translation. I really apologize for the poor, inhospitable start to your family's visit and would love the chance to follow up. I will send you a DM with my email address. -Amy
Friend and I couldn’t decide so split the Egg Sausage spinach scramble and the Blueberry pancakes — both were excellent!! We’ll be back next time we are in DC.
First time I have not liked my meal at any FF restaurants. Also, this was the first time I have been there late night or on a weekend. Steak was over cooked, presentation was not just meh, it was unappetizing. I think I will stick to weekday meals.
Got reservations through Open Table, great service and very busy. The food was outstanding, my wife got the Crab and Shrimp Risotto and it was the best we’ve ever eaten. We live near the coast and get crab and shrimp a lot so that is saying something. Highly recommend and will go back in the future.
We all tried interesting variations on comfort food. Pot roast. Beer can chicken. ASR’s bolognese. No one was disappointed. Enjoyed our meal. Service was attentive but not over bearing.
This restaurant was very fresh and amazing!!
My parents 50th anniversary. We had a reservation but still had to wait and my dad can’t stand up well. Food service was slow. Restaurant super noisy. They brought a dessert for my parents but thought it would be comped because they basically talked us into and brought it out with candles but it was on our bill. Also I have an allergy and we told them to tell us what I couldn’t have. Even thought he vegetables I ordered had the alleged in them they brought it and told me I couldn’t eat it. Didn’t make sense. So we sent it back. Why would I order it if I couldn’t eat it. It was ok just not the experience was looking for for a once in a lifetime celebration for my parents. That said. Food was good it was just a bit chaotic.
Food was amazing and service was great! Tables were too close to each other and it was very loud! Too loud
We had a reservation before the theater. Entryway was very crowded with groups waiting for a table and others trying to get to the hostess stand. It took about 15 minutes just to get to the hostess to tell them we had a reservation. Once we were seated, service was excellent and the cocktails were delicious. All in all a great place but we lost about 20 minutes waiting to get to a table- ordinarily not a big deal but we had a show to get to.
Perfect place to go if you are on your way to a show or event...just make sure you make reservations. A little too fast for a True Saturday Night dining experience. Everything we had was good...nothing outstanding.
Awesome- waiter was superb!
We weren't seated until a half hour after or reservation and the service was slow and unresponsive. We asked for ketchup which never arrived, our drinks came half way through our meal and we couldn't get the wait staff attention when they walked by.
Hi bkusa: I am very sorry for the delay with your reservation and also apologize for the slow & inattentive service that followed. :( I will send you a PM with my contact info to hopefully connect about your feedback. -Amy
Granted, they were extremely busy but even with a reservation, we had to wait 15-20 mins to get seated then waited 30 mins to get our drinks once ordered. Our server was very nice but obviously overwhelmed. The food, which is normally good, was ok. Greasy fries, burgers definitely overcooked etc. My friend's salmon was good but the veggies were also overcooked. We thought at 3pm it wouldn't be too busy but apparently not. I'd go to FF again but would walk away if they look as busy as they did this time!
Too crowded and a wait even with a reservation. Service was slow
The food is gorgeous and worth the effort, and the table service is also great. But it seems you always have to suffer through a poorly managed reservation/host experience to get there.
My daughter is a Freshman at American University and each time we visit her she loves to eat here. Food is great. Service is great. Favorite spot each time for breakfast.
Food was average and the service was bleak. Server only perked up when he brought the bill in hopes of getting a better tip
We were there for brunch. Overall the food was good. The best things I had were the bloody mary and the hash browns. My only compliant was that the NY strip steak that is served was half tender and half gristle. I ended up only eating half of it because the rest was just too tough. But hey, its a brunch steak.
Great breakfast although would have appreciated a coffee refill.
Food was excellent. However, I had a reserved table for 07:45, but could be seated only after 08:00.
Poor quality food. Service slow. AC blowing directly on us - asked several times to have it turned off & servers said it could not be turned off. When we requested to move tables manager turned off air. This is not the food quality have had before. Will never go back.
Hi SteveP: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so so sorry for the slow service, poor quality food & cold air that was initially blowing on your table. I also feel terrible the server was mistaken if the air could be turned off, and all in all, am equally let down for the disappointing takeaway from your time with us this past Friday. I would love the opportunity to touch base, and will send you a DM with my contact info. -Amy
Long wait for food. Slow service. Waitress not around much. Undercooked Mac and cheese noodles. Sent back to kitchen only to be served noodles cooked again in a like fashion.
We had a 1pm reservation on a Friday for 4 people. We checked in when most of our party was there at 12:50 and told them at 1 when the last person arrived, and we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Once we were sat, we were able to order in a timely manner and food came out. The food was good, but nothing special. Once we were done though and plates were cleared, it took an additional 20 minutes to get our checks from our waiter. The service seemed exceptionally slow for a lunch... thankfully we weren’t on as much of a time crunch, but still felt as if it took much longer than necessary despite having a reservation and having to wait for a check which added a combined 40 minutes to our meal.
We went for breakfast as recommended by a couple of people. The waiter was awesome helped with recommendations. The food was good. The avocado toast was yummy.
We came here a bit later in the evening after a concert. Our server (I think her name was Anna?) did an awesome job and made us feel really welcome despite our late in time. Amazing food. This will always be one of my favourite restaurants in DC.
The food was amazing, especially the spinach & crab artichoke dip
Good food, excellent service. Hubby thought portions were small, considering the price. Also rather noisy, but that’s to be expected at a crowded, popular restaurant.
Food was average. Service was good. The wait to get a table was annoying. It was very crowded and there were no places to sit and wait.
Delicious food, varied menu, great service!
