Fonda - Brooklyn
Frequent guest but this time the focus seemed to be on happy hour bar guests. Poor service and waited and hour for food. The appetizer of guacamole is overpriced for the amount, bad value. I need to take a six month sabbatical from here.
On reservation mentioned it was a birthday celebration. No mention of it. We were three and were squeezed at table for two. Too loud. Too cramped. Doubt I’ll return.
Fonda never disappoints! Great food , service and a great night out.
The food is absolutely incredible, but we didn’t appreciate feeling so rushed at every point of our meal. It was supposed to be a nice night out to relax and enjoy ourselves, but we were frequently taken out of that moment and it affected the overall enjoyment of our meal.
Fonda has the best brunch in Park Slope. Great food and drinks.
All the food was delicious the guac was especially good. And of course loved our margys and mimosas! Always an amazing spot.
FONDA never disappoints! This is a go to, especially for brunch. Can beet unlimited drinks for 2 hours and the carnitas sandwich is a favorite. The staff is always friends and attentive. Looking forward to patio season!!
Fantastic food and drinks as usual. My favorite restaurant in the neighborhood!
I would recommend adding more seafood and vegan options for brunch
Food is AMAZING.. service is very respectable... they actually HONOR your reservations too! I loved this spot. The 29 dollar brunch is a real deal if you plan on having a few cocktails. They were super busy so it took a little time to get our food, but that's my only small complaint. Other than that highly recommend. I really wanna rate this 4.5 out of 5 not 4 out of 5 but i dont have the option.. i dont give 5's because nowhere is perfect..
The service was excellent and they were able to accommodate a last minute reservation on a busy Friday evening. The food was good and the hibiscus Rosalitas were outstanding. Have been to the Chelsea location and would definitely return here to Park Slope as it is close to home and just as delicious!
Both classic and inventive Mexican food that is very fresh and doesn’t make you feel awful after!
Loved the taquitos, and the green enchiladas. The hibiscus margarita (on the rocks) was fab! Boyfriend says it’s his fav new restaurant. Will be here a lot more often since we live less than a 10m walk away!
Great Food and service. Wonderful!!!
Fabulous as always!! Not as noisy as usual - maybe we went earlier this time.
Food we will remember for the rest of our lives
Meh. Very overpriced meal that does not really distinguish itself from other Mexican places. Great cocktails. Wouldn't go back.
I enjoyed this place, great atmosphere, excellent margaritas. Decent food. Would go back again.
Great place for a casual brunch, just a little noisy and service is a bit slow.
One of the best meals that I thoroughly enjoyed in many years. Guacamole is outstanding. Fish tacos were very tasty. Ice cream sunday was worth every calorie. I am not a drinker and I had a
taste of frozen margarita. It was dreamy. The meal was on the expensive side but worth it.
Innovative food with meat, fish and some veggie options. Good cocktails too. Service is pleasant and efficient
A wider range of veggie options would be good. And the coffee is a bit weak but these are small quibbles.
Honestly, this place has so much attitude. Every time I go in they say they are booked even when there are open tables, or they refuse to pull apart an EMPTY 4 top when there are 2 paying customers who want to sit.
The food is solid, similar to chelsea location, but so expensive. $25 for enchiladas is what they charge at the best restaurant in Mexico - not this 3 star out of 5 experience.
It's too expensive for the price but is the only solid mexican option. I never enjoy the service and for that I'll probably venture into Sunset Park for more authentic food, a more casual atmosphere and better service.
Amazing as always. Service and food on point. From cocktails to soup and guacamole to entrees and dessert, Fonda did not disappoint. Inventive and filling dishes at reasonable prices. Service was well-paced. Never rushed. We will return again and again.
Always great food & service.
Food was ample and really good! However the Service was very mixed. We had To wait a while just for a salad and guacamole and chips and then within a few Minutes of receiving these appetizers they brought out main courses for 2 of the 3 of us! Timing was off. Then they brought a few dishes to us which were not ordered by us.
Dessert was yummy.
As always, the guacamole and margaritas did not disappoint. My roommates and I love enjoying a night at Fonda. Our table was wobbly/uneven and the wait staff seemed annoyed when we politely asked for it to be addressed. Other than this, we had a great time.
I gave it an overall rating of 3 stars because the hostess kept reminding us that they had a reservation right behind mine. I called to tell them we were running a little behind. Most people don’t do that. She said “there is another reservation at 7 pm.” (Res 5:30 pm) I told her that we weren’t going to be that late. When we got there she said it again. Then I remember the same thing happened last year when we were there. She could’ve been a lot nicer about it. There are ways to go about things like this. The one thing that annoyed me even more was when 7 pm came around and we were having dessert there were 3 empty tables available that were not cleared. I’m no novice to restaurants and reservations but as much as I love the food here it’s not Le Cirque. P.S. the wait staff was amazing!!
This restaurant is amazing! I wish they had brunch offered during the week days not just the weekends. We work on the weekends and can not come to enjoy the amazing brunch they have .
The food at Fonda was absolutely amazing, and the service was great as well. Alejandro and the other gentlemen helping him were quick and very helpful. They were more than happy to give you more chips/tortillas with your meal if you wanted. The only reason this isn't a raving five star review is because the food is pretty expensive. The food was delicious; literally everything my friend and I ordered was great, but the price tag attached to it wasn't something I would run back to pay for.
I visited on 2/2/19 for brunch. I pushed my reservation back and decided to sit at the bar as the other members of my party arrived. The drink was right and the bartender courteous. As the hostess came over and stated that our table was ready, we walked to our seating. The tall gentleman that was clearing tables amongst doing other things was quite rude. Very loudly I heard, "MAAM YOU HAVE TO CLEAR YOUR TAB!" I would hope I have too, I was only going to be seated. That interaction is what is leading to this review being a 4 star as opposed to 5. Our waitress, hostess and bus boy were quite friendly and wore smiles. As for the gentleman that announced to the restaurant that I have to settle my tab, I hope you have better interactions with customers in the future.
Great dinner with friends. Food consistently great and good variety. Service was also superb this evening.
Love this place. The food is amazing and so is the staff. It's a great place for any time of the day. Recommend making a quick reservation as it fills up quick!
We love the tortilla soup so much
We like the restaurant, this is our 4th time to Fonda within 2 months
Ordered with the waitress who did not write down the order. We got an extra dish that we had to pay for as she said I ordered it. The main course I had was very average.
The fish taco was expensive for just one.
The crab croquettes were delicious on the plus. And my husband loved his meat tacos.
Authenticate Mexican food which is just about impossible to get in NYC.
Margarita is made correctly & just great. Guacamole is a slice of heaven.
The choice of main meals are the best of the best.
The service is outstanding.
I suggest you go & try this restaurant A.S.A.P.
Always good service and good service
First time there, very good food, great service. Restaurant is a bit small but not crowded. It is pricey but would definitely go back.
Food is great, space is tight, noise can get loud and prices are a bit too Manhattan. Service was friendly and adequate.
Another great brunch at Fonda. We made a reservation and were shown right to our table. Food was excellent as always.
Love this place. The frozen rosalitas are some of the best margaritas in New York, but be careful how many you have! I have dined here many times with friends, family and my husband and it is good for all occasions. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are always super friendly. I recommend booking though as people are starting to find out about this place and it's sometimes hard to get a table!
