Farmer's Table - Little Italy
We had a great time. Literally felt like we were in Italy with Massimo. We love the atmosphere and Massimo’s story’s of his hometown in Italy. Will definitely be back!
Anniversary. Everything was great. Our First time there. And we loved it..
I hate to give this 4 stars because the ambiance is amazing and I will choose restaurants simply for the vibe.
Bruschetta with ricotta and pear was delicious. I would order it again and again.
For my entree I ordered the crab risotto and it was so disappointing. The only thing I could taste was vegetable broth cooked into some rice. Some crab was there but you couldn’t taste it. When you order a dish named “crab risotto” you have a very different experience in mind.
My boyfriend’s entree was the special of sea bass with a ginger sauce. AMAZING. So good. Wish I ordered that!
We started with 2 espresso martinis. Very good. I prefer my espresso martinis without cream but still delicious.
Our waiter was either swamped or very new. I give them the benefit of the doubt because it seems like they have extra outdoor seating because of COVID and the servers have more tables than they’re used to.
Overall, bummed about my entree but I would definitely go back.
Great evening on the adaptive patio. Farmer's Table did a great job in addressing the changes and the food and service were great!
Wonderful brunch in outdoor setting! We enjoyed the meatball hash - amazing...And that Italian coffee YUM. Service was great. All around a delicious and enjoyable treat!
Delicious food, polite and friendly staff, nice atmosphere... I will definitely go again!
The server was very nice but the service was a little slow.
I previously came to this place during a weekday and I loved it, the food, the service, and the place itself was amazing, so I decided to come back for my friend's bday brunch. I made a reservation since it landed on Labor Day. The place was't packed since they do follow covid-distance rules. The waitress was really sweet, but my friend got her order wrong. We all waited a long time until she got her food. We also waited for someone else's food that never made it to the table. The waitress apologized and was trying to bring it asap. We probably waited an hour so everyone could have their plate, by then everyone's food was really cold. My friends were very disappointed by their service. I understand it was a holiday but they were definitely understaffed and not prepared. I would recommend to go during a weekday.
The worst service I have ever experienced. I will never step foot in here again
It was packed with people and understaffed but food was solid
Went on Labor Day weekend. Too busy. Service slow and didn't get the right drinks we ordered, but did was great and prices were decent.
Crowded beyond belief but our waitress kept things light. Incredible pasta, the pear Bruce RTA
At Farmer's Table in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood, the food and location are outstanding.
Their execution of seating restrictions due to the novel coronavirus are where they fall short - way short.
Our part of four was seated on the side walk between the curb of busy India Street, and the very busy curb. This meant that people were squeezing by our table during our entire meal. At one point, a street performer set up her violin case six feet from our table and proceeded to play, drawing an even bigger crowd, unaware that their backsides were right next to our plates! This was frustrating, since I had made the OpenTable reservation in advance.
The food was very good: We shared bottle of Rose, a Burrata with Prosciuto and Artichokes, an Octopus with Brussels Sprouts and Arugula, and finally a Roasted Chicken Pizza. We had to stop there, because we were being squeezed by the crowds walking by. I wish we were able to stay, because we were all looking forward to entrees such as the Short Rib, Pork Chop, and their fish special.
If only Farmer's Table would have roped off that section of the sidewalk to keep people's butts out of our faces, then we would have had a much better experience.
Location: Bustling and energetic
Seating: Ask for a table away from the sidewalk!
Dinner was very busy during Labor Day weekend. Both indoor and outdoor dining was available and there seemed like there was only 5 waiters available. We waited very long for our meals. A friend of ours ordered their special and turned out they ran out of it by the time they served us so she had to wait a while till her plate was ready. We asked someone for the dessert menu and he told us “we don’t have dessert” and walked away even though we saw another table next to us with cake. So we asked another waitress and she told us they didn’t have a dessert menu but she can tell us what they have for dessert and so we ordered from there. It was very difficult to flag a server and get our check our entire night. My pappardelle was ok but lacking more meat and sauce. We probably would not return here. Didn’t seem like anything special
Great service, modern atmosphere and the food was delicious.
It was great - 8 of us - everything was great - food the environment the service. The only thing was the table we were at was a big tire and we couldnt sit straight - our knees hit the tire -so we all had to turn to the side which got uncomfortable. Other than that - so good.
I ate here with three of my grandchildren on Saturday night.....I had the lamb shank and I loved it. The "kids..young adults" also loved their entrees and the appetizers...the octopus was excellent...service was great as well!
Farmers Table needs a new protocol for host staff to check in guests. I waited in a long line to check in for my reservation, but as I waited the hostess allowed a man to cut the line for his reservation then proceeded to get seated before myself and the other people in line. This was unfair and frustrating as I also had a reservation but did not receive the same prompt service. So Farmers Table lost my business that night and in the future.
The food was amazing and the service was good but very slow. Plan to go again though, everyone was very nice and they are doing a great job in a very trying time.
Waited 10mins to be seated even with a reservation placed prior to our visit. We were suppose to be seated inside. The hostess tried to explain to the shift manager (which he was rude and unprofessional to her right in front of us) once we seated outside table was not completely clean. Our server finally served us within 10mins. She took our order. We ordered a $22 bottle of champagne for mimosas. Once we got the flutes I started to pour champagne and saw specks of OJ in it I asked to swap a new glass for a new one. When it came time to order food the food was ok nothing to be exited about. The whole staff looked overwhelmed and the experience was not great due to the shift manager I could tell.
First time since COVID. Outdoors was amazing. Food great, as usual and the idea of a bottle of champagne, with OJ on side was brilliant. Our waiter was Jacomo, who we've had before. He's wonderfully attentive and kind.
Everything good ......................,,
Reservation was at 3pm and didn’t get seated until 3:45pm. I don’t like throwing specific people under the bus, but one of the hostesses looked like she didn’t care. At first, wait 15 minutes, went back and than time kept changing. I wish they didn’t offer a 3pm reservation if they’re were going to close exactly at 3pm and make us wait 45 minutes until reopening, that’s what made me angrier. I understand sometimes the kitchen staff is overwhelmed, but try and have better communication up front and show more concern for people’s time. The server, however, was excellent!
The restaurant location is great and they have lots of outdoor seating. The food was just average and the service was poor. Table wasn’t cleaned properly before we sat down, mentioned this the the server, said she would come clean it and never did.
My family and I went to Farmers Table in Little Italy because I enjoyed the La Mesa location. Our server was excellent, we had some order issues, and she resolved them with no problem. The first truffle pizza we ordered was poorly burnt, and they brought us out a delicious new one. I ordered the pork chop, which was dry, lacking flavor, and challenging to cut. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were acceptable. The server ended up comping my meal because I just couldn't eat it. My husband enjoyed his dinner; he ordered the buffalo fillet and left his plate clean. One of my sisters ordered the pappardelle and loved it. My other sister ordered the lamb shank and did not like it at all; she said it lacked flavor. I tried it, and it tasted like beef gravy was poured on an overcooked lamb. I was not impressed. Lastly, because we went during the covid pandemic, seating is outside. The tables are not social distancing, and it was pretty crowded, and they have a time limit at the table. I would suggest going during the week or for brunch/lunch or trying other locations. The menu has excellent selections and variety, but their execution and consistency is lacking
Overall an ok experience. We've had much better food at the La Mesa location. Our cocktails were good, Shrimp Ceviche was good, although only came with 6 tortilla chips?
Definitely needed like twice that.
My Crab Risotto left little to be desired, lacking a distinct flavor and the veggies in it weren't cooked thoroughly.
My wife had a Pistachio Prawn Pasta, again the flavor was a bit off.
Not terrible, but not as great as we've experienced in La Mesa.
It was very busy and a Friday night...
Wonderful brunch as always. Never a disappointment.
Got to FT at 3:30 on Sunday. Had a reservation & was seating almost right away. Once at our table, I stepped in guy that someone was left and didn’t pick up. Then sat at our table for 20 minutes without one server coming to us for an order. No water. Nothing. We proceeded to leave because that’s unacceptable. The place wasn’t even busy!
Tourist Trap. There has to be better restaurants in Little Italy. We were attracted to the farm to table concept but got the feeling it was a scam. Once seated we ordered a bottle of wine. The wine we chose was the only overtly organic wine on menu. Waiter came back with a different wine and argued with us that it was the same wine with a different label. After showing him on the menu that the wine he brought was a different wine on the menu, he told us that they were out of that wine. I mean, you're kidding right. We ordered fried shrimp and calamari as an appetizer but there was no shrimp. I brought this to attention of waiter he said that there must have been shrimp on plate implying that we ate the shrimp. Very strange. He went to the kitchen and brought us back 4 medium size shrimp. The shrimp and calamari were tasty and I am still waiting for my chipotle aioli. For our next course, ordered two pizzas, fennel sausage and gluten free tomato. The fennel pizza was extremely disappointing. it was drier than a piece of leather, like getting stuck in mouth dry. Gluten free was better and tastier. I brought this to the attention of waiter and we agreed that we would receive complimentary "something." We;re still waiting for that as well.
Obviously there are issues with management. The place was crowded but not Carmine's in New York crowded. No excuse for wrong wine, missing ingredients, shoe leather pizza , poorly trained staff and no real attempt to make things right.
There has to be better restaurants in Little Italy than this tourist trap. Avoid.
We were seated in an inside area with access to the outside since we had a larger group. It felt like they didn’t have the AC running cause we were sweating as it was still so hot.
Our server was not very good. We had a group of 8 so people were trickling in from our group. She only took the drink orders from 2 people initially and it took 30 min before she took another order from only 2 more people and then took the drink menu away. Mind you, this was only after someone in our group had to flag her down to get her attention. Her excuse was “oh I didn’t want to bother you guys” as if we’re not there to eat and drink? We made sure to order everything once the entire group was there because we were afraid she wouldn’t come back for a really long time!
Most of the food was good however the grilled octopus was not. It tasted bland with no taste whatsoever and I expect a good dish for the price. Their espresso martini was delicious and the 23oz boneless ribeye special they had was pretty good too for the price.
Took 15 minutes for us to be acknowledged by waitress. That was after we had to get manager’s attention and ask who our server was. It was obvious they had no idea at first. Food came faster but was not tasty.
We love the Farmer’s Table in La Mesa. This is the first time we visited the Little Italy location. Food was great, as usual. The additional outside eating area wasn’t that great. We sat under a vent outlet at what seemed to be an “overflow” table. Table was sticky and may had debris falling on it from the vent. Maybe remove that table. Expected better seating for having reservations. Service was great though!
Food was great, the service was good.
Great environment in the center of Little Italy. Nice outdoor seating. I ordered the banana foster French toast - would definitely recommend!
Not our best experience here. We’ve come many times before and had a better time. The waiter seemed to go out of his way to take OFF his mask when talking over our food and drink. No COVID precautions taken. Also, we had a party of 6 and there were many mistakes on our bill which didn’t seem to concern the manager at all when we brought it up.
Next time we will try a different place. I no longer have a desire to return after today’s experience.
The guy threw my left overs away
Outdoor seating with great food, drinks and service.
It was a mess the night we went. Maybe due to being moved outside. Food carriers could never find tables, like totally confused walking around with hot food. People walking out due to service being slow. We had another server step in and help us, due to her we received decent service. Food was good but not great. Location was great. It was probably just an off night, a lot of unhappy customers complaining .management could be better.
Food was ok. Service was definitely subpar with our waiter very difficult to find. Major concern was that Covid precautions were not taken seriously. Table was not cleaned, menus were reused, many people were not wearing masks as they walked past our table. Really disconcerting.
