Farmer's Table - La Mesa
Short Rib Pizza
fresh mozzarella + scallions + red bell pepper + caramelized onion
fresh mozzarella + goat cheese + pesto + broccoli + roasted garlic + roasted cherry tomato
fresh mozzarella + parmesan + ricotta + tomato sauce + organic spinach + natural ham
We got there at 8 and were seated. A rather irritated person gave us water as they didn’t great us and almost slammed the glasses on the table. We were going to a concert at 915pm,I thought that we would have enough time. Sadly we were didn’t even get our order. At 830 we decided to leave since there was no indication when our appetizer order would ever come out, we didn’t even bother to order dinner because there would never been enough time. Maybe if we had a few hours to kill it would not have been an issue.
Requested to be sat outside when we made the reservation, only to be put into a tiny room in the back. When we asked to move they didn’t have any tables outside. Yet people were getting sat out there. Ordered a salad and the fruit had mold on it so they gave us a new one. Only saw our server twice, the food was ok but not worth the money. Probably will never dine here again, service was slow and food was over priced
Horrible service, waited 20 minutes and was never greeted had to flag someone down. Chicken was cold and old on my salad.
I ordered sea bass and it was over cooked. On second try it was cooked to perfection! I didn’t have to wait very long either:). Everything else mixed greens salad and all the veggies were delicious.
I was generally disappointed with everything on my visit today. I had a reservation for the patio and was seated inside where it was so noisy. We were celebrating a birthday & that was never mentioned. Our waitress never checked on us once our food came. I have eaten there on 3 previous occasions and this time was definitely not one of the better ones.
This is my second time dining at The Farmer’s Table in La Mesa. I am glad I selected this restaurant. We were celebrating my mother’s birthday. She enjoyed her meal and that means a lot because she is a very picky eater. My cocktail was very refreshing and was a nice accompaniment to my meal.
We are regulars who always enjoy Farmers Table from Eastlake. Service is perfect, the food is the best and the crowd ambience is always friendly.

The food at Farmer’s Table is always good! I highly recommend this restaurant!
I ordered the salmon and wanted all vegetables instead of potatoes and veggies. I thought I would get more veggies. Skimpy portion and they were cold so I sent my meal back.
I paid $31. The salmon was pretty good, but they needed to have more vegetables on the plate.
Will be back
We were greeted immediately and shown to our table where our server showed up with water and menus. I ordered a Beefeater martini up, I rate it good, a bit watery but that’s what bars can do. We started with the fried calamari shrimp, yes, both on the same platter. Perfectly cooked, light batter, served with a remoulade and tomato sauce, excellent and generous. I had a seared tuna special served over spiced quinoa, delicious! RJ had the seafood calamari, bountiful seafood and perfect pasta in a tasty broth. A winner dining experience!
Wonderful dinner. Always good here.
Four of the 6 dishes our party ordered arrived underdone (bruschetta not toasted, fries limp) or lukewarm (soup). My husband said is steak was just ok. Overall a disappointing visit as we have liked this restaurant in the past.
A little noisy on the inside. Some of the breakfast dishes are suuuper potato heavy (lookin' at you Corned Beef Skillet!) so I suggest looking at the menu really hard and potentially getting a fruit or salad as a side for those. Otherwise great place and nice staff!
Nice neighborhood gem to goto for a casual evening dinner
Had the short Rib pizza - AMAZING!
Love this place for a fun date night with great food!
As noted in my ratings, the food, service, and ambiance were excellent. However, I started the visit with a very sour taste. I made a reservation for 12:30 p.m. through Open Table. I was there on time. I had reserved an outside table for two. The hostess told me that there were no outside tables available. She confirmed that my reservation specified the time and table request. The excuse was, "we are very busy." It seems that table requests made through Open Table are not necessarily honored.
It was our 20th anniversary and I had put that in the reservation but not a mention. We love this place and come by very often at least once a month. This time someone had a stupid happy dog on the porch. I don’t mind dogs even in an establishment but when the damn thing barks at every passing dog it’s a pain. But that’s not the places fault that’s on the owner.
Had high hopes but disappointed by long wait and meh food. Visiting the SD area; wife and I were famished after all day sightseeing. Was able to grab an 8pm slot. We don’t drink, ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. The menu looked great and service initially was good. Appetizers took about 15-20min to come - got a blooming zucchini which was more of a stuffed zucchini tempura rather than a blooming onion type situation, and also a shrimp calamari. My wife doesn’t eat shrimp so I ate all of the shrimps in the dish - there were two. Slightly over-breaded and under-fried, and fairly fishy. The menu descriptions gave us impressions that it’d be a neighborhood gem (think Orchard City Kitchen if you’re familiar with San Jose area) of place and the appetizer was more Red Lobster quality. Entree took forever. We got there and ordered before 8pm and it was after 9pm before entree came out. The server came to apologize around 8:45, but before that it was just radio silence.
I had stuffed sole and wife had filet mignon. Stuffed sole was fairly good - a bit fishy, sauce wasn’t super inspired, caulflower mash was good; overall no real complaints from me - again, kinda like Red Lobster vibes - not terrible, not what I was expecting, but serviceable. Wife’s filet was… not filet? Larger piece of meat than what a filet would be, cooked well done, brown throughout no trace of pink (ordered medium), and tasted more like a strip steak than filet. Sauce was a bit salty. Quality there is really what one might expect at Denny’s. She had about 1/4 of it and didn’t finished, I tried and ate maybe another 1/4 but I didn’t really hate myself that much last night so didn’t finish it. Needless to say, we didn’t pack it. We left the establishment around 9:20. I get that maybe we’re not typical since we don’t drink and don’t let the time just pass by, but we were pretty hungry and tired, and the wait was not great, and the food definitely left us wanting a bit… wish others have better experience
Enjoyed our night. Wish our waiter would have been more attentive but it was just ok.
Fresh and good quality food. Great service.
Won’t be dining here again, food was bland and not what it was a few years ago when this restaurant opened, new chef/ management has brought the quality of food to a very low level. Extremely dissatisfied
Food was good but service was incredible slow. Reservation for 715pm. Food arrive table by 830pm. Won’t be back
Lunch tables had not cleared and the restaurant looked messy. Took a long time to be waited on but food came quickly. Seemed short of staff. Food was okay nothing special.
Food was excellent! Weather was great for sitting outside! Very nice for a casual Saturday evening dinner. I would absolutely recommend Farmer's Table.
Ordered the special, the stuffed sole, and the lava cake… amazing!
Good food, good drinks.
Great server. Good food. Men’s room needs more cleanings.
Always my go to restaurant. Father’s Day’s menu was meh?
But the cocktails never disappoint.
We were told that there was a special Father’s Day menu. After ordering, we saw other people ordering off the regular menu which was a little upsetting. In addition, my steak, was supposed to be medium rare and it came out closer to medium and was dry.
Seated quickly with our reservations. Order taken almost immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was wonderful and quite plentiful.
Father’s Day. We were seated at 4:15 and were served our entree around 5:45. The restaurant was not very busy. (About 5 tables indoor). Our salmon was overcooked. Our waitress only checked on us when our food was served (3x) during the two and a half hours we were there. So, we couldn’t order more drinks. The food was mediocre. Tables seated after us got their food before us. The restaurant was hot inside. It was expensive for a mediocre experience.
We took our family here for Father’s Day. Worst experience EVER!!! Took 20 mins. for anyone to acknowledge us. It wasn’t even busy. They had a pre-fix menu which was NEVER mentioned on Open Table. There were only 3 choices & it was expensive for what you could order. We thought of leaving but because it was a special occasion, reservations would have been impossible to get elsewhere. They brought the kids meals out before the adult meals. They were done eating before we even got our salads. The steaks were the worst we have ever eaten. They were like eating leather. We asked for 1 steak without mushrooms. That didn’t happen. They took it back & immediately brought us another steak well done. We asked for medium rare. By this time we were over the whole thing. Our desserts came out while we were still eating our main course. The manager was screaming at his cooks… we could hear them in the kitchen arguing. We received the wrong bill at the end of our meal & the waitress never asked the kids if they wanted dessert. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this restaurant. It’s too bad because we’ve enjoyed this restaurant in the past. I really wished we walked out. We spent way too much money on garbage. We will NEVER return.
Love sitting at the bar. Great location great cocktails and food
I’ve been here many times. Nice space, but our service wasn’t great. It was slow, our glasses of water were slammed on the table… didn’t seem inviting as an overall experience.
Service is important. The waitress forgot our drink and then when the meal was brought to our table, she forgot the toast. We had to ask for the butter and jelly when that was forgotten as well. I see a theme of forgetfulness.
I have eaten here many times and was disappointed with the service. It will be awhile before I want to go back.
The stuffed fish was awful. And expensive. 🤮
La Mesa Farmers table never disappoints. The Sautéed Octopus was fantastic and well garnished. Cocktails were top notch.
