Food is pretty mediocre, prices are reasonable but location is great. It’s much nice inside than outside. The place was over crowded (Tuesday afternoon!) which put too much pressure on staff, so manage your expectations.
First, the food was excellent. We've dined at Farmers Fishers and Bakers before, so we knew what to expect. Everything was prepared to exacting standards and promptly delivered by the kitchen staff.
Unfortunately, the service was simply unacceptable. We couldn't order a Shirley Temple, even though the bar clearly has scratch made lemon lime soda, grenadine, and cherries. Our server said, "we don't have that." I asked him if he knew what a Shirley Temple was and he insisted that he did.
Our starters arrived and we enjoyed them, but the plates were not cleared prior to the arrival of our entrees. We had to stack the starter plates to make room for the entrees. Later, when the bill came. The server needed to remove my entree plate so that he could place the bill on the table in front of me.
These issues are easy to correct. It's frustrating to encounter this type of service in a restaurant with such high standards for its food and ingredients.
We went specifically for happy hour and we’re NOT disappointed. Everything was really nice EXCEPT they need to keep a watch on the restrooms. For our overall experience to have been so nice the restroom needed help!
This was supposed to be a small birthday lunch with a small group of friends. Thank goodness we enjoyed each others company and the scenery. because the service was poor, the drinks were weak, and we had to ask for things that should've been provided..i.e. extra plates, ice. We were seated at 1:40PM and we didn't leave until after 4:00PM because of the painfully slow service. The only reason that I didn't give it 1 star was because the second server (evidently there was a change in servers) tried to make up for the slack service from the prior server.
They ran out of crab cakes and they didn't have all of the ingredients to make the mixed drinks that we originally requested.
After hearing raving things about their food, we weren't impressed. The food was ok, but we've had better at fast food or chain restaurants. Perhaps they were having an off day, but I will never return to that location again.

What a wonderful experience and incredible food! Delicious tuna tartare and delicious bacon basil mussels! Can’t wait to have dinner at this restaurant again.
Good food and service. A little loud and chaotic (but it was Father's Day).
The experience was horrible. Server and manager were nice but really didn’t have a choice as the food was terrible. Cold!! The drinks Trash!! Pizza came out cold the first time and almost dropped on me HOT the second time. Everything was a literally a mess!!
We celebrated Father’s Day there and my only complaint is we arrived ten minutes early for our reservation and still had to wait outside the restaurant for at least 40 minutes in the heat. The food was great and the service was excellent. Our waitress was helpful attentive very considerate and extremely kind.
Absolutely awful hostesses. Off putting. Ignores you and is unhelpful. Would not go again.
Food was fine. Our waitress Julie was great and made up for the hostesses. If I have to pay a surcharge the hostesses one and all need to be replaced. Also, your app would not allow me to choose outside sitting and while there was plenty of room they refused to sit us outside.
Bummer. :( We're SO sorry we failed at our first impression and sadly, you left not wanting to return based on the unacceptable encounter you described with our host team. My kids and I had a good time overall (Father’s Day), the food was OK, nothing special ( buffet with salmon & fried chicken), the ambiance was overcrowded. I guess next time we will select a more intimate & smaller restaurant.
The service was good!
The hostess in the front was extremely rude and dismissive. The server was forgetful and didn’t know much about the menu. The buffet was picked over and a lot of the items were missing. I’ll never return.

My wife and I love the Founding Farmers on Penn so since we were going to be at the Washington Harbour, we thought we’d give this location a try. The food was as good as I expected it to be. No quarrels there whatsoever. We came during brunch and made it work though we were told that the regular menu is available by 2pm (it wasn’t).
The problem is that our service was very poor. We had a reservation yet weren’t seated for over 20 minutes after set time (not a big deal, it was busy and we understand). What we DON’T understand is how after we’re finally seated, we had to wait for over 10 minutes before my wife finally decided to chase down staff to figure out who our server will be and why they haven’t introduced themselves. Another kind server said she’ll try to find out but after yet another while we were just sitting there wondering if we even existed. Then when our designated server finally appears, she takes initial orders and becomes a ghost. She was literally inattentive and mostly absent. No check ups, no other drinks other than out initial pouring and if we needed something like a condiment, etc. we had to ask someone else. We couldn’t stay. I asked for the bill (from someone else) and and we promptly left.

Server really put no effort into our table at all and the restaurant wasn’t even full. We go often for brunch and have never had this problem.
We had a great Father's Day brunch. We were able to make a reservation to sit outside, which gave us comfort in the safety but also a great view of the fountain!
Place was great, great location and the menu was awesome. For brunch, the fried shrimp, eggs Benedict and Nitro Iced tea are must haves. All the food was good. Place was a bit smaller than expected so the brunch line was a tad crowded, but overall, and for the cost and location, this place is worth it 10x out of 10.
The food was amazing… the seafood platter was seasoned very well. Our waitress was so friendly and kind.
I haven’t been to Farmers Fishers Bakers in a couple of years, but the last time I went it was great. I returned with visiting family and was VERY disappointed in the whole experience. First, we had to wait for our table, when we had an existing reservation. Secondly, the the restaurant is so loud you can barely hear one another at the table. Lastly, the service was very poor. Our waitress acted as if she was mad for being there and unhappy to be serving us. She forgot multiple items that we ordered and we had to ask her multiple time for these items- each time she came up with an excuse as to why it didn’t come out/why it was delayed. Also, not the waitresses fault, but the restaurant was our of several simple items including pineapple juice, which resulted in not being able to get drinks we would have liked and wasabi, which is a staple when you’re offering sushi on your menu. Overall, the experience was not great, and I’m upset that I brought family there to experience this as this restaurant used to be MUCH better years ago. I won’t be back, and will be sure to warn other locals not to waste their time and money.

Food was delicious! Service was little slow and a little sparse, but more than likely due to national shortage of workers. The outdoor view was very good. Manager came and talked to us about food allergy which was very accommodating! We’ll be back.

If you are thinking “it’s been awhile, let me go back to brunch because I remember this place was good,” save yourself the money and don’t. Go somewhere else. We arrived for our reservation and were seated shortly after. We waited for a waiter, but no one came so we went ahead and started the brunch offerings on our own. Ten minutes later, someone appeared. Drinks took longer than they should have to arrive. The brunch itself was poor as most items on the brunch menu were not offered or simply constantly out and not refilled. Asking for an item was met with “it’s coming” and it never arriving. For the table offerings, half never arrived after being ordered. Drink refill requests went forgotten. The overall atmosphere was disorganized chaos. Don’t go here for weekend brunch offerings.

There seemed to be disconnect with the hostess as I had to wait an additional 15 mins when I arrived 10 mins before my reservation. The flow in the restaurant is off saw many near collisions as guest are traveling to the buffet and their seats. Wait staff did not full explain what was buffet and Ala carte.
We had the buffet brunch and it was very nice, totally worth it! Wide selection of different types of dishes, and the majority of them were very interesting.
The price for the brunch was good however the food was just mediocre. I do wish they could provide a waffle and omelet station.

A wonderful time dining out for Father’s Day brunch with my hubby and 2 daughters.
Children under 6 eat FREE! Amazeballs!
Food was really yummy! My hot chocolate was so bomb!
Ambiance was refreshing,delightful,warm and inviting!
I loved seeing a diverse group of pple not only dining but serving in the restaurant. I really had a nice time.
I would suggest coming early and closer to opening times as it can get pretty busy and I’m sure longer wait times if not reserved ahead of time.
We had a wonderful meal outside with a terrific server Krupaul. The food was delicious, the ambiance was festive with the river in the distance, the illuminated fountain, people excited to gather again! Gazpacho was the best ever! Craft cocktails, delicious sushi and seafood options. So much variety on the menu. One of DCs best spots!
Menu said happy hour was until 6 pm. We were told by our server at 5:40 that the near round of drinks were full price. This was not communicated to us until after we received our drinks. Apparently they are switching to a new menu with new happy hour times although menu in front of us stated otherwise. Poor communication and poor way of acknowledging their mistake by having us pay full price for drinks that took 30 minutes to come anyways. Will think twice before coming back here.
Long time to sit down even with a reservation, not one single waitress or waiter served us, we had to get the manager’s attention, food was very basic, not worth it.

No one liked the food they ordered. Friends were not impressed by the drinks. Overpriced. We will not be doing happy hour here again...
