Outstanding menu selection, fantastic service all in the most elegant of settings

This is one of our favorites and it was a fiasco. We ordered the Sea bass and they had none so they substituted with mahi-mahi. It was salty and had a burned top. The fish was not fresh, grey and over cooked. We were asked if we wanted something else, but by that time we just wanted to leave. Not the kind of service or quality of food we have come to expect. We will not be back. Overpriced and under-quality!
We were guests at Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta, and this was our 5th time at the resort, 2nd time dining at Etonne, the successor of Azur.
When we stay, we buy the meal plans which includes 6 breakfasts and 6 dinners, and we do look forward to dining at the restaurants as they are generally good.
This evening, our server (I will not name him as I hope if he read this review, he would recognize himself) was not friendly at all. We were a table of 7, 4 adults, and 3 kids. We did not order any liquor or drinks, and I feel like this is where it all went sour - I've noticed at a few restaurants if you don't order drinks, the waiters turn their noses up - which I don't understand - do you get a commission off my drinks?
The food was great - and we did enjoy our meal. At the end of the meal, we paid for dinner with our vouchers, and had a separate bill which we were paying with credit card as we ordered 4 coffees with dessert, and a kids meal. Our server made sure to point out that we should tip on this bill, and when I paid with the credit card, he again mentioned his tip. At this point, I told him that we had already left a gratuity in cash for him with the other bill with the vouchers. While I was typing in my pin, I see him going through the bills to see how much we had left - obviously not enough as he handed me my credit card receipt and walked away without saying another word, even though I had said thank you very much for a great dinner this evening.
This was our last meal before we left the next morning, and it just made the whole experience very uncomfortable and left a bitter memory.
I hope the staff at Etonne read this and improve upon their service - we don't have to be as polite as we usually are - but I choose not to be a snob when I go to restaurants, but perhaps I should have been, seeing as how the lady at the next table spoke rudely to the staff and in turn, they grovelled at her.
The presentation & taste of the food was excellent
Have dined here before when it was named Azur. Positive experience. In fact, we loved the short rib entree. Unfortunately it is not on the new menu. I ordered the Beef Bourguignon with pasta. It was very bad. Probably 90% fat & gristle. Had to spit it out. No one ever stopped by to ask how our meals were. We won’t be back.
Wonderful meal and enjoyable background music. Very friendly and helpful staff. Prepare to spend a little extra but worth it.

Staff were not friendly food was good wine connoisseur wasn’t very informative. We’re we’re had dinner there the week before and everything was great. Not sure what happened but this place shouldn’t be that hit and miss.
Lovely restaurant. Food was not as good as the french Vidanta restaurant in Mayan Riviera.
Everything from the hostess to the waiters to the ambiance and the food was great.
We had been at this restaurant when it was Azur, two years ago. The setting is beautiful, but the food is not equal to the setting. The onion soup was good, but the fish courses (trout and sea bass) were mediocre at best. The steak tartare was delicious, and was the hit of the evening. Two of the desserts were delightful- a chocolate cake with coffee cream and a Napoleon. It was not crowded, and it is apparent that it is not a 5 star restaurant.
Looking forward to returning on Friday. Exceptional!!! Don’t forget to order Crepe Suzettes for dessert!!!
Great food, beautiful views and wonderful service.
Azur is one of the two the best restaurants at Vidanta (the other being Quinto). The main courses are great, especially the beef. The gravlox is delicious. And the desserts especially the opera are spectacular.
The sunset situation is perfect. Eat outside. Inside the piano is too loud and makes conversation difficult.

Fantastic. Our waiter was Mario. Very nice evening. They also provided gluten free variations. I haven’t had onion soup in years, and it was greatly appreciated.

We were the last party of 3, and there was no attempt to send us on our way. They were very patient and let us enjoy our late night freely.
The steaks were incredible and cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious.
We’ve now dined at this restaurant three times during our recent stay at the resort. Two have been mediocre to poor and one was good. The restaurant is overpriced for it’s quality and they didn’t accommodate my food allergy very well. I’m hoping they will improve in 2021.
Scallops were wonderful. Lamb was tough and had quite a bit of grizzle. When we told the waiter that the lamb was tough, he gave a sharper knife. We said that we did not chew with a knife and the lamb was still hard to chew. The waiter walked away and did nothing.
Our waiter (Mario) was excellent. It would have been nice if the restaurant had some decorations for Valentines Day. Our meal tonight (salmon and sea bass) was not as enjoyable as the lamb and steak we had last week.
It was a very nice setting and the beef dish wonder. The soups were more ordinary. (Onion and lobster bisque).
The food was wonderful, but the cheese cart was not to be missed!!
Our waiter Mario went out of his way to make our last night in Mexico very special! The views are spectacular!
Had scallops and was sick for 2 days, we used food coupons for the meal when the bills (separate for food and beverages) was presented we was reminded by the waiter to add both amounts for the tip
Azur happens to be one of the best restaurants in the world. Xavier, who has been there for I think 40 years, prepared beef tartare. It is the best I have ever had. The servers Gerardo and Hugo were highly trained and added to the experience. Lamb, beef and fish were the dinner selections, each cooked to perfection. I was even able to get the ingredients for a side dish that was out of this world. Dessert was both visually pleasing to the eye and sublime to the palette. All in all, an unforgettable meal.
A beautiful place to enjoy a dinner watching the sun set. Staff are very attentive, ensuring all your requests and needs are taken care of. Food is beautifully plated, portion sizes are just right. A must place to enjoy dinner when in Puerto Vallarta.

A great place to enjoy an evening meal! The food, service and general atmosphere was outstanding! We enjoyed the Sommelier coming to our table to give us wine suggestions! He was very knowledgeable, professional and fun!

The view, service and ambience is the best at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta. Appetizers, soups and salads are top notch. However, the main entrees seemed tired and not as flavorful as anticipated.

The food and service were exceptional. Sit outside for a nice view of the lake and fireworks on the opposite side of the Grand Mayan. Also, the outside tables are more quiet. The pianist was a lovely touch.
