I thought the food was fabulous! Have never tried Uyghur cuisine, and I thought the menu had lots of options that looked tasty. The service was a bit slow, but the food came hot (I guess it takes a while to prepare). I would definitely get the specialty tea - very delicious!! The chewy handmade noodles and the vegetarian dumplings were also very good. My mother is intolerant to red bell peppers, and it just so happened there were red bell peppers in anything - so if this is you, make sure you tell them before hand!

The restaurant is small and intimate. But once we sat down, the waiter never came to offer water and to take drink orders until we called him over. The food was very good, but the waiter never made any attempt to explain the menu items--this is a cuisine with which most patrons are unfamiliar. We didn't really feel welcome, and throughout the meal, the waiter never paid any attention to us unless we hailed him. So it is hard to say whether I would recommend the restaurant. The food has great possibilities (but needs some explanation); however, the service was awful.

Good new place right at Cleveland Park metro. New tasty cuisine to me. Staff works hard.

More than half of our party was vegetarian, and the vegetarian dishes lacked flavor and nuance. The meat dishes were very good.

DC's introduction to Uyghur cuisine continues to please all of my out-of-town guests. The food may have lost some of its heat since Dolan's early days, but is still delicious. The eggplant salad and the characteristic noodle dishes are not to be missed. We suspected that the kitchen had not made our requested meat substitution, and the manager very graciously offered us free dessert.

The food was good but there wasn't sufficient variety for our group. Everything was pretty similar.

Our family enjoyed Dolan. The service and the location were nice. However, we didn't feel as if we were eating anything terribly regional or special. The polo and cucumber salad were hearty and tasted good but really did seem like something we could have made at home. This was our first experience with Uyghur cuisine so we just weren't sure what to make of it.

Feel like I missed out trying so much on the menu and I am looking forward to going back! We started with the cucomber salad, eggplant salad, then each of us got one of the noodle dishes. All of them were great. There was this baked meat pie dish the table next to us got that caught my eye and going for on my next visit.

This is a charming place with interesting, delicious food and a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The service was excellent and we appreciated the helpful explanations of the menu items since it was our first time sampling Uyghur food. We really enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning so we can try more of the tantalizing menu offerings. Yum!

Food is unique and very tasty and the ambiance is great. Parking is difficult but it’s right off a metro stop. Rest rooms need renovation and cleaning, but I guess it’s hard to get help on a bust Saturday night.

Dolan has an intriguing cuisine. Food is very tasty and portions are good sized. Prices are quite reasonable. Definitely, worth a try.

Amazing food, well spiced, nothing was left on any of our plates. Very busy night so service was a bit slow but they were very nice. We will return. They ID everyone for alcohol. We are 60 & got carded!

The food was really great. I usually go for a lesser carby meal than noodles but i had to try them because they're house made.

There were three of us, we ordered mushroom salad, Samsa, & a lamb kabob for apps. All were great. The woodear mushroom salad was so clean tasting (healthy) & delicious (spicy). The lamb kabob was large, cooked & seasoned to perfection. The Samsa was good.

For entrees we ordered korma chop (fried noodles but fried so lightly) with lamb (delish!!), Sui Rou Laghman (hand pulled chewy noodles) which was also so good. The noodles actually tasted light because they were so fresh, homemade. And Goshnan (meat pie) -which was also great. Only criticism on this dish was the meat (packed with meat) was a little gristly.

The food came out very fast.

Only complaint would be we waited quite a while after we were finished, before anyone came by to clear plates\cash out. Besides that the service was great, the staff was very friendly.

The above plus one cocktail each was $100.

We will definitely go back and try some of their other great looking food!

Wanted to try something new. Had a chicken and noodle dish. It was not good. The noodles were over cooked and the spices were chunky. Asked to have it exchanged and I was charged for the second dish.

A fascinating and tasty glimpse into a little known cuisine, that of a Turkic people resident in China. The food itself is somewhat middle eastern, somewhat Chinese and quite distinct from either of those traditions. Most importantly, the food was delicious. Notable were a superb chicken stew and some amazingly textured noodles.

The food was tasty albeit on the pricey side, service was average, music just terrible - some modern dance music, pretty loud and not at all in tune with the vibe that a fusion restaurant should project, the table was too small, and dishes were left there long after they had been emptied. Overall, disappointing.

We ordered several different items and every single one was a treat! The handmade noodles (laghman) are chewy and delightful, the ginger sauce was great - the noodles were unlike any I’d tried before. I especially enjoyed the lamb goshnaan (probably my favorite dish, must try with the yogurt dip!) and the naan kordak. We also enjoyed a the Dolan cake and I was amazed at how flavorful and rich it was. The service was great, food came quick and the servers were very polite. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you’re looking for something new and intriguing!

This may have been an off night for them. We were seated at a cute table upstairs and then we realized the AC had shut off. In the middle of DC summer, that’s not an ideal dining environment. This happened 2 or 3 times throughout our meal, which ended up making it difficult to enjoy the hot food we ordered.

The service wasn’t great. The man who took our drink order did not pay attention to the actual wine I was ordering and opened a bottle of the totally incorrect wine (without showing it to me first). I felt bad, so we drank it anyway, but it wasn’t at all what any of us wanted to have with our dinner.

The man who took our food order was unenthusiastic and unhelpful when it came to deciding what to get (its our first time eating this type of cuisine). So we ended up with 3 noodle dishes that were all very similar just maybe different level of spice. The noodles were good, and cool that they were handmade. Lamb kabob was the best thing - really well-seasoned. Overall the food was okay, but I probably won’t come back here for it.

Towards the end of the evening, they started playing techno-like music which gave off a weird vibe, especially since many people were still eating their dinner. Felt more like a club than a restaurant at that point. The lights went out while we were paying the check, and I’m guessing this might be related to the AC trouble. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt on this last issue, but it honestly fit quite well with the rest of our overall underwhelming experience at this restaurant.

Food was good, but the a/c broke which unfortunately made the experience a bit different given how hot it is outside

The food was delicious and unique-but the server seemed very out of her element. We were seated and waited probably 20 minutes before being acknowledged and asked if we had any questions-no description or suggestions or background of the interesting menu. We also were brought the wrong bottle of wine twice (we ordered a red, and were brought two bottles of white). Definitely would come back for the incredible fried eggplant, noodles, dumplings but if you go, make sure the company is kid back to the odd service.

Small, with tables close together. The staff was helpful with choosing and answered questions. I had the Laghman style noodles /lamb. While it was good, it had a few bones in it and ruined the meal for me so much that I could not finish it. The Dolan and the Honey cakes were both great dessert choices. The tea cannot be ordered by the cup, only by the pot, which was too much for two people just wanting a cup of tea. Otherwise, a nice place.

For a different ethic restaurant with authentic cuisine, we have taken friends about 6 - 7 times.
The noodle dishes are very different from any place we have eaten, and the fish dish and eggplant dish quite good. Will be going again.

This family owned and run restaurant serves unique food in a comfortable setting. They have parking in the back and are directly across from Cleveland Park Metro so if you avail yourself of the happy hour drinks or not, you have options. I really enjoyed my meal and will back with more friends.

My third visit. I'm glad to have Dolan Uyghur in the neighborhood, but can't honestly recommend it as a "destination." Uyghur food is interesting but much less subtle than many other new-to-American-tastebuds cuisines, and apart from its novelty value has limited appeal. It's a very oily cuisine; I don't think this is inauthentic, just a fact.

On all three of my visits, my and my companion's food arrived 5-10 minutes apart. I wish that Dolan could fix this awkward gap. Yes, I know it's a small kitchen, but still.

Dolan needs to put its hours on its website.

This was a lovely dinner with excellent food and matching service. It was a bit more expensive than I expected, but only because I found it via the Washingtonian's Cheap Eats list. Nice dinner (2 entrees, 1 wine, 1 dessert, pot of tea and generous tip $70.) I will certainly return.
