Have dined at many Del Frisco's across the country. This particular venue does not exhibit the cost benefit trade off you experience in other locations. Expectations and bill are high at any Del Frisco's.....seems like this iteration just mails it in.
Occasion: Mother’s Day.
Food ordered: Steak and Lobster tails/sheimps Sides not included.
Family of 4.
The price was expensive and the food was MEDIOCRE. Yes, MEDIOCRE! I was not impressed the way food were plated or presented. My wife who usually instagram her food to post didn’t even bother to take a photo of her plate because the 3 shrimps were overcooked and the fillet mignon looked like a burnt nugget; we were embarrassed to share on our social media.
It did not meet our expectations. I should’ve picked Black Angus steak house.
Not sure where to start, my daughters 21st birthday, planned this dinner for months. I’ve eaten at many Del Friscos around the country and consider it my favorite chain steakhouse. Party of 5, we were seated at 7:00 and after promptly getting our salads and soups, our entrees didn’t arrive until 9:30, cold and undercooked in a hurry. We were told around 8:30 that our steaks were being plated, that was not true. They couldn’t tell us what happened, but it was clear our order had been lost, and they claimed the kitchen got it hit with a big order, also a lie. By the time everything finally came out cold and wrong, we were done. We didn’t really get to eat anything after 3 hours and they did comp us all of the entrees, not much of a consolation when you only turn 21 once. I’m very sympathetic to what COVID has done to the restaurant industry, but I’m not sure this debacle was COVID related, very disappointed
Food is divine, but service is was what you would expect from a Chili’s. Almost nonexistent wait staff, empty drinks, long waits between courses. Waiter seemed overwhelmed. One bartender . . . was backed up - took 25 minutes just to get an iced tea. The food is sensational so I will still come back. Service used the be so great - Hope it can get back to the old days. Also, order the lemon cake - it’s off menu and truly sensational.
Del Friscos is one of my favorite restaurants! Here is a few of the "must haves"...ribeyes are outstanding, they are seasoned well and so flavorful. For an appetizer, the bacon au pointe is eye rolling delicious! For drinks, their peppercorn gimlet is the best I've ever had and the blood orange Manhattan is incredible. For dessert you will never be same with the butter cake with butter pecan ice cream! Did not like the calamari - flavor was wonderful but so overdone you could hardly chew it.
Great meal and wonderful atmosphere
My husband and I made a reservation at Del Frisco's for our wedding anniversary. It was our first time at this restaurant. We made a reservation 3 weeks ahead and requested outdoor seating, but we were seated indoors when we arrived. That was a little bit of a disappointment for us especially after making a reservation so early. They never acknowledged that it was our anniversary either.
They bunched everyone into tables next to each other in the corner even though the entire restaurant was mostly empty. We ended up next to a couple with a baby.
I ordered the Chilean seabass and my husband ordered a steak. The seabass was undercooked and gummy. The steak was overcooked. The cocktails we ordered were average.
Besides the food being unimpressive, the service was okay. Our waitress checked on us a little too often which made us feel like she was trying to get our orders in and rush us out of there. We had arrived hoping to take our time and enjoy the place, but halfway through I was eager to get the check and get out of there. It wasn't relaxing. There wasn't much ambiance. And overall we were disappointed with what we had just spent $250 on.
It didn't make our anniversary feel any more special so next time we'll opt for a better restaurant in downtown San Diego like Eddie V's, Bencotto, or the Brigantine.
Mother’s Day Lunch
Our first time there and it was for my husbands birthday. We had fun, they sat us at a table and when a booth opened near the window we asked if we could be moved and they were very nice and accommodated us. The food was amazing and they brought out a butter cake with pecan ice cream for my husband with a little candle. We were both surprised because we didn’t know they were going to do that. It’s pricey, but it was worth the experience.
My husband brought me out to celebrate my new job promotion and I was very excited to try out Del Friscos. The calamari was by far my favorite! It was amazing! I had a glass of rośe and my husband had a Moscow mule. Our drinks came out and it was a solid 45 minutes before we saw our server again. We had been empty for a while. We saw our server twice. The service was horrible. We had to ask another server to bring us our check. Never saw our server ever again. It was a very disappointing experience.I really wish we would have had a different experience. I was looking forward to celebrating my promotion it’s not everyday we get a sitter and have ourselves a date night. The service definitely killed our vibe 😞
Poor service for the price. Food was average. Too loud. Overall, a poor experience that we won’t repeat. One of the worst high end steakhouses we’ve ever been to
service was awful food was very late and cold. No Customer service.
Tried it and wasn’t for me. To each their own.
The perfect evening: Dining outside with my love with a view of the water and phenomenal food.
The staff from the receptionists to the waitstaff to the back of the kitchen are the epitome of customer service.
Our steak was the best steak that we've had in years. The entire meal was amazing.
Well it took an hour and a half to get one steak, and lobster Mac and cheese. The waitress came not checked on us about three or four times over 2 hours. We had to cut our steak with a butter knife. I asked for pepper for my salad and didn’t get it for literally 20 minutes.
Great for a celebration. Wine list was “top shelf”!
Excelente lugar , muy buena vista al mar , los calamares no deben faltar ..
Rude hostess. Steak was good, not great. Not quality I was accustomed to from Del’s. Poor value.
Service was a bit slow and steak wasn’t cooked as I ordered.
It’s really beautiful, the service is great
It was our second time there snd both times we found it really loud
They pump music in and it doesn’t feel like background music
Food was outstanding, but service was not very attentive nor prepared. I had to ask for dinner ware, wine list, heater, for food to be removed from bill we never received and waited a very long time for drinks. They did bring a birthday desert which was great. Overall,I felt like I over tipped the service, but with all that’s going on they deserve it. Not sure why they keep using COVID as an excuse for not having all the menu items or wine choices. It’s getting old and the items are available at other restaurants
Food and service was great - a little slow on removing plates/glasses when finished - waited for our dinner order a little longer than expected, but we were not in a hurry - just wasn't as smooth as usual - only negative was girl at front desk who stared at us when we walked in and when we walked up to her - we had to ask if she was there to check people in or not since she was just weirdly staring at us - no greeting, no hello, certainly not a warm welcome that's for sure! That was not a good start to our evening, but we got over it and it was great overall
Great food and service. Beautiful sunset.
Ordered 75dl stake, asked for médium and they brought ir well done, send it back 30 min later came well done as well , the lady who was in charge of our table had a very very bad attitude, some places don’t know the meaning of COVID and did not learn anything this past year.
It was my birthday and first time in Cali
A superb experience, I wish I remember our server’s name as he was excellent. Food was excellent and everyone made us feel so special! We were on our first post vaccination trip and this was the only place that was just outstanding the whole week! Thank you!
Lots of option not available on the menu. But this is to be expected on a busy weekend
We went for Restaurant Week on the last day. I felt bad for our server. He was new. And it felt like they were understaffed. Every other table around us received everything before we did even if we sat before them. We got our bread after a good 30 minutes but had to wait cause we didn’t have plates or utensils. We weren’t checked on a lot by our server so if we were missing anything it took a long time to go noticed cause other servers weren’t paying attention to us. Food was great. But if I were to pay actual pricing versus Restaurant week this review would’ve been a 1 star.
Delicious! Our server Jeremy was fantastic! We came for restaurant week. The food is superb!
Our friends "rare steak" was definitely a medium, our medium rare was also a hard medium so that was unsettling! The only reason I not rating the food a 2 is because the of sides and dessert... They were awesome! We had kids mac, asparagus, creamy spinach and the star of the evening was the incredible butter CAKE and dinner rolls!! Say yes to both!!
They ran out of bread and didn’t have cheesecake (this was one of the items on the restaurant week menu). I made the reservation about a week in advance, you would think a restaurant that seating is mostly reservations they would not run out of menu items... how do you run out of bread??? I’ve been here many times (to include during COVID) and this experience was disappointing. I had to ask the server multiple times for a bag for my leftovers, when other tables were given bags when they received the boxes. Not the service I’m used to at this restaurant.
Wonderful experience... the steaks were perfect ... the Martinis went down to smooth... abe the staff was terrific
Stuffy, unwelcoming service from the check in to the wait staff. The only redeeming fact was the manager that brought us free drinks because he released how horrible the service and food was. Food was palatable but not worth the price. All of our steaks were over-peppered and dry. When we asked for bread, we were welcomed by dry crusty nonsense. We even had to ask for butter. Sorry excuse for a restaurant. We went for restaurant week and their excuse for poor service was because it was restaurant week. I’ll pass. If you are a part of San Diego restaurant week, I expect you to be on your game.
Was a great restaurant with great service. Steak and wine were outstanding. They ran out of the strawberry cheesecake and the wife wasn’t a happy camper. Overall we loved it and will return.
Phenomenal service and food. A must stop at the San Diego waterfront.
Excellent service (Jeremy)! Food was very good, but not great. Very cool, windy, evening and the heaters didn’t take the chill off so it was a bit uncomfortable on the patio.
It was our first time and we enjoyed it very much. The food, service, and ambience were all very good. We will definitely go back.
Another great meal at Del Frisco. We enjoyed the restaurant week menu, 12oz filet and salmon. Superb service by Matt. Expensive but always a treat.
Went to celebrate a birthday, happily surprised to learn it was restaurant week and they had a 3 course prefix available. As always, the food & service and attention were A1. Do yourself a favor, have the VIP pineapple vodka!! 🤩
