Dan Moon at the Gainsborough
Amazing food, lovely staff! Thanks for the special evening.
for a special occasion this is an excellent choice
My girlfriend and I had a truly fantastic experience at the Gainsborough restaurant. Everything from the food, table service, presentation and ambiance was absolutely amazing. The staff were extremely friendly, competent and attentive. The food was incredible and some of the best meals we’ve had countrywide. Food delivery was also very timely. We will be coming back again and both of us would definitely recommend to others.
We had the best experience here today. Food was excellent, we had the 3 course lunch menu and it was perfect - quality food with unexpected pairings but they all worked. They made a raspberry lemonade on request which really should be on the menu - it could not have been better, it was like drinking raspberries. Our waiter was friendly and professional. The place has a unique vibe, very relaxing, somehow smart and laid back at the same time. I couldn't fault anything about our lunch, would highly recommend the place.
Food was good but for the price point I expected a more of a complete dining experience. The dishes where rather safe and classical and didn’t have a big wow factor. The wine pairings didn’t stand out to be the best apart from the last dessert course.
The stand out was the quality of the ingredients used was high and the staff all very good.
Best value high quality lunch in Bath. Food and service both superb
Food was delicious and beautifully presented, excellent value for money. Staff were attentive and polite, will definitely visit again.
Each of the 7 courses were special and whilst having their own twist worked perfectly as part of the whole. The flavours and textures were exquisite. The restaurant is stylish and the staff were fantastic! Already looking forward to coming back!
Excellent service from start to finish. The food was excellent in both presentation and taste.
Amazing service and beautiful setting. The food was amazing. Highly recommend if you are a foodie. We did the 5 course set menu and it was just right.
Excellent mid week lunch at the Gainsborough to celebrate our wedding anniversary . The food was delicious and presented beautifully . The service was attentive but not intrusive and we appreciated the brief description of each dish. The mid week lunch offer is tremendous value for money and allowed us to enjoy fine dining at it’s best. We will definitely return and have recommended Dan Moon to friends and colleagues.
Good food and service. Would definitely recommend.
best sunday lunch i have ever had and i have had a few Paul age 61
Fantastic food and service for an incredible price in the most fabulous setting. Special mention to the Maitre’D.
The food was beautifully presented and the taste matched the presentation. Service was warm, friendly, very professional and efficient. Cocktails both the champagne and whisky were a joy to the palette and very tempting to have more than one. Food price was excellent since there was a 2 for one offer. cocktails and wine were very good but stiffly priced. If only we lived nearer we would be regulars.
Pawel was an amazing host. He is an asset to the company. Absolutely great service and food
We had an excellent family lunch very much enjoyed by us all. Especially by the two Coeliac members of our family. They especially loved the bread and would love to know which gluten free flour was used!! One small thing was the granola gluten free?? A bit of reaction to that otherwise very good. We love it here and hope to return again soon.
Our third visit and again an excellent lunch. Delicious combinations of flavours in each dish with interesting choices.
Thank you for a lovely lunch. Looking forward to the next one
Generally a very pleasant evening. We had the 5 course taster and my wife and I thought 3 out of the 5 courses were exceptional, the other 2 were good but not the same level. Wine was very nice. Service was indifferent. We ate on a Monday night, not sure if that is of relevance but service could have been slicker and more accurate. Silly things like topping our water glasses up with still when we had ordered and paid for sparkling water, took a long time to order a drink after being seated and then being charged for large glasses of wine when we had small. The staff (actually lady running the restaurant) were not overly attentive. Will not put us off trying the restaurant again, but a restaurant wanting to be top end needs to get it right and sadly it wasn't 100% spot on this time.
Booked in for the excellent value Sunday lunch. Lovely restaurant, great food and service was impeccable. The only downside was that despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with plenty of seating available, they chose to seat a large family party with very young noisy children directly behind us, which spoilt what had been a delightful experience.
Outstanding lunch with awe-inspiring food. The presentation and the combination and intensity of flavours made for a gratifying experience. Would recommend and now on our list of places to eat in Bath. Nice environment, great food and without doubt the best place to eat in Bath.
Been many times and is our ‘Go to’ dining option.
True class in every way and if it doesn’t get a Michelin star, it’s and absolute travesty !
Fantastic food, below average service.
Dan, your food deserves much better.
Good food. Service was ok but occasionally lacked finesse.
Excellent 3 course lunch beautifully displayed and served. A good and reasonable wine list to accompany the dishes which are so artfully presented - and so delicious. The waiters are so pleasant yet unobtrusive. All in all, extraordinary value on the two for one deal. Well done Dan Moon!
A truly great chef serving a modern take on English fine dining.
I’ve been to the restaurant twice with my husband and both times were amazing . Incredible food, brilliant service and excellent price. All the staff are incredibly helpful and attentive to your needs and we specially liked the waiter Pavel-he is lovely!!!
Nice meal, lovely service but was a little underwhelmed with the set menu. The last desert really wasnt pleasant and I was not overly keen on the chocolate one. Also the tomato soup was average at best. The chicken amuse buoche was a triumph. Wine and bread and flavoured wines were very pleasant.
The food was delightful
Very poor for the price. Service was excellent but the dishes were boring and tasteless for the most part.
Excellent value lunch. Food of the highest standard and beautifully presented. The only drawback is the ambience which is very quiet and the service is a bit "chilly" and stiff by staff who have a limited knowledge of English.
Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch, highly recommended. Very good value and service was excellent. We will be back soon!
Nice touches, great service . There were one or two things that did not max out on taste ie salted caramel tart and Parmesan broth on fish ...
The 2for1 lunch deal is fantastic value for money. The food and service was second to none
When in Bath this restaurant is a must. We enjoyed the incredible value lunch. 2 three course meals for £38.
The gentleman looking after us, Kris, is a true credit to the establishment. Dan Moon and his team wowed us with every course, and this started with the bread and butter.
We will be returning for sure and ensuring as many people know about this incredible restaurant.
Booked a table for 2 for lunch and the staffs were so polite and nice from start to end. They took care of us well and made the overall experience better.
We got the three different types of bread with three different types of matching butter before our courses which was really nice. We enjoyed the seaweed butter and tomato butter most.
We ordered the caramelised white onion soup and ballotine of smoked salmon with yuzu pearls and caviar. Both starters were nice but the salmon really amazed us. Good quality and fresh ingredients were used and everything matched perfectly.
For our mains, we got the roast tenderloin of pork which is inspired from asian cuisine and pork would be nicer if it was softer. But overall it was great. The other main was butternut squash samosa which was spicy so I did not try.
We got the panna cotta and chocolate ganache with banana ice cream and salted caramel purée. Panna cotta was great but I love the chocolate ganache more as the banana ice cream was so fresh and natural whilst the salted caramel purée had thin caramelised banana slices on it. The flavours matched well.
Overall the bill was £38 for the 3 courses for both of us and with the service charge, it was around £42 ish, which is an extremely good offer considering the quality of food and service.
I totally recommend this restaurant for high quality food and service, also the great atmosphere.
A wonderful lunch at the Gainsborough. The service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. The food was well thought out pieces of art on a plate, full of flavour and invention.
An amazingly good value meal for two with very high quality food and service- highly recommended.
The whole evening was first class from start to finish. The service was excellent. Every dish was incredible and the wine was perfectly matched to each dish. Can not fault a thing!
Great food and wines. Bread tools and butters also excellent.
The food was excellent & good value, especially considering the 3 rosettes.
I would like, in particular, to commend the head waiter, who was helpful, courteous. Unusual in these times for a young man, he knew how to address customers & did not use the American vulgarity "guys" once in addressing us. People of a certain age, such as myself, see a red mist when their wives are addressed as "guys".
Keep up the good work. We will return.
