Copperwood Tavern - Loudoun calificaciones y reseñas
The food here was excellent! The squash entree was so tasty and filing and the corn muffins that come in the beginning were incredible. The staff were nice although the service was a little slow. We liked our food so it wasn't an issue, but no one came to ask us so i'd imagine if you didn't you would be annoyed trying to flag someone down. They played some awesome 90s music though and honored my booking request to be seated off to the side of the restaurant out of the way (it was date night).
We were excited to try this new restaurant after seeing that the menu featured several game dishes.
We came away extremely disappointed and feeling that we had paid far too much for the quality of food. Our party ordered the duck breast, which was just OK and the venison, which was dry , tough and tasteless. The other menu surprise was that a $33/$34 entree doesn't include any sides (which were also sub par).
Service was friendly, but chaotic. All in all an expensive disappointment.
I dined at Copperwood on a Saturday night and felt the overall meal with missing something. I ordered the Pork Chop and Frites. My wife ordered two appetizers, the short rib and fried green tomatoes. The pork chop, short rib and fried green tomatoes were all cooked well and were appropriately portioned, but all three dishes seems to lack anything memorable with their seasoning/sauces. There was nothing bad about any one dish, but nothing that makes we want to try them again. The frites were excellent though and I would recommend them as a shared side. One other positive was the varied selection of beers on tap from various local breweries.
Seriously over-priced; go there if you are feeling altruistic and just want to support the farm-to-table movement. I know that it costs more to raise an organic, free-range chicken than a battery-farmed one, but the prices at Copperwood are truly stratospheric for what you receive. I've never been a fan of the unadored-piece-of-meat-on-a-plate format; in Europe, meats are always accompanied by their appropriate vegetables. Well, Copperwood brings the meat looking lonely on a plate and all the sides must be ordered separately. The meat is tasty and the sides are tasty, but overall the price is just scary. Good beer list. Half-price wine bottles on Tuesday is a great idea. I'm sure it will be a wildly popular restaurant, just not with me.
We come here at least 2-3 times a month for brunch with our infant and 3 year old toddler to meet up with friends and family. They are always so courteous, and the food is great! Normally do the Scrambled eggs with potatoes and Bacon, and the Iced Virginian. I've had the Bananas Foster which was also extremely great!
Have visited a few times in the last year. Our last visit was a bit odd, the food wasn't up to it's usual high standards. Everything felt like it was exceptionally light on the salt as a guess, the mashed potatoes and the brown butter chicken both were slightly bland. The drinks as usual were great and service is always polite and fast.
I had listed our anniversary as the reason for our reservation but that didn’t seem to matter once we got to the restaurant. The hostess gave us a table for 2 that the couple before us had just rejected and when I asked if there was anything else all she offered was a similar table a little further into the room. The table had horrible lighting and felt like nothing special - given the special occasion I had listed when i reserved. The food was fine - definitely not worth the price we paid for it. Overall I was not impressed and will probably not return - especially for a special occasion.
Came here on a Saturday for lunch/brunch with my friend. Was pleasantly surprise that the brunch menu was available on a Saturday (most restaurants in the area only offer brunch on Sundays)! Service was fine, love the lodge feel of the restaurant, and the food tasted great. The only complaint was that the coffee was expensive. I got a standard black coffee and it was $4! I'd definitely come back but would keep in mind the price of beverages before ordering.
We took our son and daughter-in-law for Sunday brunch. They lived in Arlington for many years before moving away and always loved doing brunch there. I should have taken a picture of my Bloody Mary....the celery in the glass was brown at the top and had droopy, wilted leaves! Maybe that set up the just okay food , tasty enough but nothing to return for.
Hard to tell which left a more positive impact - the outstanding service or the delectable food. Best rockfish and filet mignon we've had in ages. The immediate vicinity is a bit congested, we had to walk a little ways from our parking spot, and generally we're not crazy about rustic décor, but Copperwood Tavern was definitely worth it all. Most enjoyable experience we've had at a restaurant in a long time. Would have loved to have cozied up to the outdoor fire pit - maybe within the coming weeks!
The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. They brought a basket of mini corn muffins which were crunchy and slightly sweet. Two of us had the filet and it was perfectly cooked per our request and very tasty. The 3rd had the scallops and thought they were good. We shared the brussel sprouts and the truffle mac and cheese. Both were amazing. They had a very good selection of Virginia beers and other spirits. I would definitely go back if I'm in Ashburn.
We have been wanting to try Copperwood for dinner for quite a while now and finally had the chance. The bright spots were the employees and the ambience. Every single person we encountered was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was clean and lovely with a country theme done very well. The not so bright spots are the prices which seemed quite high for the small portions, and some of the actual food. The goat cheese appetizer was amazing but almost everything else was way undercooked. Steak ordered medium was RARE and salmon was raw in the middle. It was actually cold. The brussel sprouts were like well seasoned rocks. We took a lot home, reheated it and it was good. We will go back but probably stick to apps and such.
Very cool outdoor space; indoors was nice too. Definitely not kid-friendly. Food was good, wine selection limited. Would recommend for quality or special occasion, but not for family dining. Not very many people on a Friday night..not sure if a good or bad sign...
I've been to Cooperwood Tavern several times in Shirlington and loved it! Since moving to Ashburn I decided to try this location for my sons birthday. It was terrible. I ordered a ribeye medium well and it came out medium rare. I asked for them to cook it to medium well and it was returned to me medium. I cut the pieces up and asked for it to be cooked again and this time it was okay. By that time my side was cold and I lost my appetite as well as my sons appetite. It seemed as the server didn't care. The overall experience was completely opposite from what I have experienced at Copperwood Tavern and I am disappointed that I need to travel to Shirlington if I want to enjoy this restaurant again. I would recommend NOT going to this location if you are trying to celebrate a special occasion. I arrived happy, ready to celebrate and enjoy a delicious meal. I left annoyed, starving and having to go home and cook a meal after spending $50 on my meal alone. Very disappointing.
Farm to table is expected to e more expensive, and it was. The service we had was subpar. Steak delivered with no steak knife (3 minute wait). Medium-well salmon was literally sushi raw and had to send it back to be cooked longer. Portion of salmon was much smaller than I thought. Luckily the steak was nice sized and I got a few pieces from my spouse. Ordered apple pie a la mode for dessert. Nobody mentioned that the small pan it's served in is literally hot as molten lava, and I got a nice finger blister from that. (Learn from me, please!) Again, the server failed as he delivered my pie and ice cream, we were brought no utensils and our dinner utensils had been taken away. I sat for close to 5 minutes before I saw any waiter (happened to be ours) and got a utensil. Ice cream was half melted, which might've been a blessing in disguise because the pie tasted like it was made weeks ago. Driest pie I've ever had. I'm a dessert addict and I didn't finish it (not because it was too big of a portion either).
All in all, it was fun to try a new place, but we won't be back. When you are paying $35 for a steak and then another $10 for a side item (asparagus for us), you'd maybe expect to not be served tap water from a mason jar. But that's what you get here. I would best describe this place as a fancy Ruby Tuesday's on a Coastal Flats budget. Clearly they want to be a big dollar, high end eatery, but it won't take long to feel the lack of attention to detail and quality that you get at most places in the same price range.
Apparently it was a slow day so they sent home a majority of their staff which left our waiter to take care of all tables and bus them. Big mistake on managements part. We had to get up and get our own beers from the bar bc they were left sitting there for 10 mins after being poured. Left me wondering if we will return - the food was just OK especially since it was so pricey. May give them another shot for happy hour but not for a meal.
The cocktails were the best part of the dinner. My salmon was overcooked on the outside, and the oysters were not as clean as they should be. The scallops were good, but the sides were just okay. I enjoy spending money on a good meal experience, but there was nothing memorable here.
Our waiter was very nice! Atmosphere was casual and comfortable! My only complaint was that we had a few gnats or similar flying around our table once food was served. We couldn't tell if they came with our food from kitchen or were hanging out and wanted a bite of our food. Waiter graciously got me a new salad because the gnats/flies were hovering my salad. You may want to look into this as it is a turn off.
Went here with my daughters and grandson for my birthday. Chose it because it offered brunch on Saturdays. Our server was very nice, but not very good. The meal we ordered for my 11 month old grandson never came. We waited and waited, and we done with the adult entrees before it came. They did remove it from bill, but a child doesn't care about that, just wants his food. Also, my daughter and I ordered two different entrees to share beteeen us. Stated so and asked for extra plate. We were almost done before plate came. Several other issues as well, never got utensils for grandson, just shared ours, etc. Food was very good however, as we're drinks.
