Copperwood Tavern - Loudoun calificaciones y reseñas
For the price, I expected better. I ordered the chicken and although the butter sauce was quite tasty, the chicken was slightly overcooked. My date ordered the steak and wished it was made clear that it comes without side items. You have to order shared sides separately from the main course which makes it feel like it's a way to nickel and dime you.
I love a place where you can go and be able to have a conversation and absolutely great nutritious meal, witb a great ambiance, without being interrupted every second. My favorite place. The New Year special was absolutely fabulous. 💖🥂🍾 Thank you Copperwood Team. 😁
We went for New Years Eve dinner. First we were surprised by fixe price meal that was not advertised online. We decided to stay and make best of it. Unfortunately the food was just Ok for a very stiff price. The service was fair to poor. The food came out in super fast time as they pushed to clear table.
It my be a good place to eat on a regular night but last night was way over priced for the meal. I figured that they placed at least a 100% premium for the night and a glass of champagne.
Had a Prix Fixe New Year's Eve menu with Options for each course. Cocktail prices were typical, but portions were small (i.e small glass filled with ice). For $13-14 I expect a cocktail, not a trial size. The meal was $69/person for a 5-course meal that included one side dish, dessert and a glass on champagne. My selections started with a cup of chowder (good), a scallop appetizer :-(yes, one), brined pork chop (dry, charred and tasteless- just like at home), mashed potatoes followed by chocolate temptation cake (very good). My wife had lobster tails, one was fine but the other was raw in the middle and she had to send it back. Service was very good. Staff was very pleasant and attentive, they promptly replaced the uncooked lobster tail with a cooked one.
In the end, I enjoyed the company, service was very good, but the meal was not a good value considering the raw lobster, overcooked pork and cheap cocktail portions. Our experiences for brunch in the past were very good with great cocktails and satisfying food. Maybe it was an off night or just bad luck at our table. I'll give them another chance since it was a New Year's Eve dinner with a possible full booking and a pre-selected menu that was challenging to execute.
Busy. Food was just ok. Wife had the rockfish and wasn’t impressed. Fries, which are normally very good, were too greasy and not crisp. Staff was nice and did try to make it a good experience for us and our kids. But, for the price point, we expected better food quality especially on higher end plates.
Food was good, service was good. BIG EXCEPTION, my credit card was charged twice for the bill AND additionally charged for a large party's bill in excess of $200. My waiter informed me of the overcharge in excess of $200 and that he had initiated the recall. The charge did show up on my credit card statement, but was taken off per his recall the next day.
I was NOT informed of the double charges and that WAS NOT recalled. Three days later it is STILL on my credit card statement as "pending." Went out of my way to go to the restaurant to attempt to reconcile. Met with the General Manager - Jeff - to discuss the problem. He was apologetic, but told me to wait until the charges were posted before he would refund my money. WHAT!!!!????
Called my credit card company and was informed that these pending charges might hang around for at least a week!
Bad on both the restaurant AND the credit card company.
One thing is certain, I will NOT be returning to Copperwood Tavern.
The portions were on the small side for the price. The wait staff was good and attentive. It was a little chilly inside, and I had to sit w my coat over my shoulders, despite the fireplace going. For 4 of us, with 2 apps, 4 entrees, and 3 sides, plus 5 beers came to $200 w/o tip.
I loved the farm to table cuisine. The steak tartare was well seasoned and the oysters were fresh. The rockfish was flavorful and cooked to my specifications... no dairy. The braised rabbit was more of a pasta dish as opposed to rabbit on a plate. The spaghetti squash with the addition of shrimp was a hit at our table. The shrimp were large and fresh. Wine was affordable and good. The atmosphere is rustic with a homey feel. Love that they have fire pits outside and provide blankets to keep you toasty warm. Will definitely return!!
The food here was excellent! The squash entree was so tasty and filing and the corn muffins that come in the beginning were incredible. The staff were nice although the service was a little slow. We liked our food so it wasn't an issue, but no one came to ask us so i'd imagine if you didn't you would be annoyed trying to flag someone down. They played some awesome 90s music though and honored my booking request to be seated off to the side of the restaurant out of the way (it was date night).
We were excited to try this new restaurant after seeing that the menu featured several game dishes.
We came away extremely disappointed and feeling that we had paid far too much for the quality of food. Our party ordered the duck breast, which was just OK and the venison, which was dry , tough and tasteless. The other menu surprise was that a $33/$34 entree doesn't include any sides (which were also sub par).
Service was friendly, but chaotic. All in all an expensive disappointment.
I dined at Copperwood on a Saturday night and felt the overall meal with missing something. I ordered the Pork Chop and Frites. My wife ordered two appetizers, the short rib and fried green tomatoes. The pork chop, short rib and fried green tomatoes were all cooked well and were appropriately portioned, but all three dishes seems to lack anything memorable with their seasoning/sauces. There was nothing bad about any one dish, but nothing that makes we want to try them again. The frites were excellent though and I would recommend them as a shared side. One other positive was the varied selection of beers on tap from various local breweries.
Seriously over-priced; go there if you are feeling altruistic and just want to support the farm-to-table movement. I know that it costs more to raise an organic, free-range chicken than a battery-farmed one, but the prices at Copperwood are truly stratospheric for what you receive. I've never been a fan of the unadored-piece-of-meat-on-a-plate format; in Europe, meats are always accompanied by their appropriate vegetables. Well, Copperwood brings the meat looking lonely on a plate and all the sides must be ordered separately. The meat is tasty and the sides are tasty, but overall the price is just scary. Good beer list. Half-price wine bottles on Tuesday is a great idea. I'm sure it will be a wildly popular restaurant, just not with me.
