We went for Thanksgiving Day dinner. Although the website said they were serving a turkey dinner, the menu we were given had no mention of it. We had to ask the server who was lackadaisical at best. Tiny little corn muffins were served with honey butter- they were cold and reminded me of the children’s food in those play kitchens. They had an extremely limited spirits menu, all of them local. We tried two of them. We ended up sending one back because it tasted terrible. The rice based whisky one I ended up pouring not my coffee and even that didn’t help. We weren’t offered a choice of appetizers- Caesar salads showed up and I deferred mine since I don’t eat salad. Nothing was offered to replace it. The sliced turkey breast was served on top of the crouton stuffing and gravy was already poured over it. It tasted like chicken gravy. Everything was cold, tasteless and dull. A teaspoon ( if that) of cranberry sauce appeared as a bright spot of color on the plate and did that well. No other vegetables were offered either hot or cold. Desserts were the usual from their everyday menu- no pumpkin anything was in evidence. My companions chose the ice cream in a waffle bowl. The ice cream was good. The waffle bowl was soggy and then the consistency of raw batter which they said tasted like bis-quik on the bottom. They ate the ice cream for the most part. I had ordered coffee. It was barely warm and tasted stale.
This was the worst, most insipid and uninspired Thanksgiving Meal I have ever had the misfortune to endure in memory. I have been inspired to go back to cooking my own holiday meals from now on.
Great food, great service great atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and visit!
Disappointed with the seating. My guest had cataract surgery recently and could not receive direct light. We asked for a different table and was told others were for 4 and reserved. Monitored the situation and they were not reserved.
Came here for brunch today..this has been a go to favorite for months. Today there were issues with slow drinks service at 10 am and the food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. I especially wanted to share the steak and eggs taste was off this time..could not pin point the reason but the overall experience was just ok.
The service was ok but my family was underwhelmed with the food. For example - I ordered the lamb and it wasn’t warm enough or fall off the bone cooked. So overall a so-so experience.
The food was good, the service was great, and it’s a nice place but not worth the price. We got the chicken which was way overpriced at $24 with no sides, and the spaghetti squash (a vegetarian dish). 2 entrees, 1 side, 1 beer and water came to over $80 with tax and tip - a little too pricey for what we got, IMO.
Copperwood was fabulous! the One Loudoun location is rustic and cozy. We went for brunch and ordered the fried green tomatoes, scotched egg, lobster benedict, and steak & brussels salad. Everything was really good - especially the benedict, which had a bunch of lobster on it. Delish!
The staff treated us very well! We’d love to go back. Everything was delicious—especially the devilled eggs, oysters, and several versions of eggs Benedict.
Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, our meals were all excellent, cooked to perfection and we all felt the quality and portions to be equal to and or better than Eddie Merlots at 1/3 of the cost. No shade on EM. Our waiter was outstanding, extremely attentive but not to the point of overkill. The cocktails and beer were also outstanding. The atmosphere is truly spectacular and the fire pits and fireplace add a beautiful touch during this time of year. This has been my favorite dining experience in recent memory. Thank you, we WILL be back😁👍
Great food and knowledgeable, attentive service! The waiter's recommendations were terrific!
Atmosphere was great, food was prepared well and came out in a timely manner. Staff was pleasant
It was very disappointing to see the table they were going sit my wife and I at. The worst table in the restaurant, a tiny table on a island by itself in the front of the restaurant, almost by the host stand. The host offered us the 2nd worst table right next to the bathroom. We sat there and it was ok but really disappointing when we had reservations. The food was great and we had a lovely meal but the start was rocky and made me wonder why we even bothered with a reservation. Not sure if we will go back anytime soon.
Very friendly staff and unique decorations.
Food was not great for the price. I had some sort of steak salad and the meat was mediocre and tough. The menu was very pricey and did not fit the casual decor and ambiance. I probably will not go back.
Great food and great service. Loved sitting on the patio with my doggie.
Copperwood Tavern proved to be a refreshingly different dining experience. The food and service were excellent. The decor is modern rustic, albeit a bit stark. The hard floors made for a slightly noisy atmosphere with too much echoing. I gave the lowest rating to value, as the food portions are relatively small for the price charged. I will consider coming back for special occasions.
We were delighted to find that we were early enough for the one-dollar oysters. My wife and I both ordered six on the halfshell, and six grilled. Served beautifully with several sauces. Because we were so early (had to go to an event in the area) and didn't have huge appetites, for our entrees we both chose a grilled Brussels sprouts salad with steak. Excellent. The server was brand new, but handled our order with enthusiasm and got everything right. If we lived closer we'd make the Copperwood Tavern one of our regular dinner places.
Great food! We will come back
Like atmosphere and the way staff interact with patrons .
Let me start by saying our server was very nice and some things were probably out of his control...it was both my husband’s and my first time and sadly we were not very impressed or even really satisfied.
We had reservations for 7pm on a Saturday to celebrate our 11 year anniversary. We sat outside but it didn’t look terribly busy inside. Our server took our drink orders and then came back almost 30 minutes later to ask what we ordered again (side note, they were out of the moonshine to make the drink I really wanted so I ended up with a drink I didn’t enjoy very much). So we didn’t get our drinks until about 40 minutes after we were seated. After that the food all came out quickly. I’m not much of a meat eater but my husband is and said the steak he ordered was just ok. I ordered a steak salad (I didn’t really like the steak so I have it to my husband but the salad part was very good). Half way through I found a hair wrapped in some blue cheese in so I couldn’t even finish it. Sadly we probably won’t be visiting again and thankfully we had received a gift card as a gift so wasn’t a waste of our own money.
Over priced and terrible service....no attention to details....coffee had grounds in it and was cold....eggs werent cooked as ordered. Milk in 8 ounce glass with no refills for kids. Over 125.00 bill for eggs and bacon, a waffle, 2 hamburgers and a salad with water. Sunday from 12 to 2 and they were 6 other people in entire restaurant. Tells you something...place was dead
The appeal of this restaurant is the "farm to table" all local ingredients. Excellent food, mixed drinks were good, beer was well, beer. A bit pricier than I expected, dinner for two (with two mixed drinks and two beers) with tip was roughly $175. We went late (8pm on a Friday). Not crowded, server was very friendly but there were points where the service was a little slow considering how empty it was. Ambiance is nice. Updated and clean. Patio seating looked good (we were inside but bay doors were up to allow for fresh air on a nice evening). Because it's right on the street the only noise issues involved the occasional muscle car enthusiast or motorcyclist who felt compelled to rev the engine as they drove by.
As always never disappointed here. Food and service are always great. Love the atmosphere. We come back often.
Soup was cold, “shareable” sides were small, and delivery of apps/soups/salads was poorly timed. My steak was good, but that was all I got for my money: a piece of cooked meat on a plate - period. Even at McDonald’s you get a pickle with your burger. If I wanted any sides, even a potato, it was extra. Very disappointing.
Great place for brunch. Opens at 9 am which is really nice. Everyone is very friendly. Our eggs Benedict and western omelet came out hot and both were delicious. Definitely will be back.
After several really good meals, this last one was just sort of average. Pork chop was tough, Brussels Sprouts were ok, but the Mac and cheese......yum. Service was good but not great.
Great place - great food.
Most important to me and my doggie friends is the patio that allows dogs and gives them a nice homemade peanut butter treat
For claims of farm to table, local source, and for the prices listed you would expect high quality and flavorful taste. I tasted all the local IPAs on tap and did not find any of them to be very good (there are good Virginia IPAs, but none that they had), the wild mushrooms appetizer seemed rather plain and over sauced (maybe to compensate for lack of flavor in main ingredients), the salmon was just okay (the stuff under it seemed to have some grit in it), and the center point of the chocolate cake was good and moist, but the outer edge was rather dry. I ordered the cake to go and they put it in a big bag but didn’t include a fork. It was not bad food, just not good enough for the price. That is probably why the restaurant was so empty at 7:00.
Came with 5 adults, great breakfast and presentation. The service was spot on
We had a great experience through and through. Our server was fantastic, the food was top notch, and the ambiance was friendly an inviting. We'll definitely return.
The food and the service was great!!
I don’t normally write reviews... but this was a lot of money and quite disappointing — having had a great experience once before. Our food was cold in the middle... the English muffins were soggy as the hollandaise had been left on too long. We had to ask for the popcorn delivered to most tables. The waiter was nice... The whole experience was not good though — and it was a special occasion which made things worse. Spent over $80 for four people for sub-par food — which all sounded delicious. Will not be going back.
Amazing overall experience! Four stars only because the desserts left a little to be desired.
Excellent food. Sides were great. Outdoor seating very pleasant.
Try the lobster wraps, amazing ! Great food and a great place for a celebration.
Sat on balcony. Bartender led our service team. She did a great job! The $1 oyster special did not hurt
My daughter was craving the French toast sticks so we headed over for brunch. The food was very good, we had a variety of breakfast items. The service was very attentive too. We might go back next week for my birthday.
Always great service and great food at Copperwood Tavern! We were able to sit at a table right inside the opened doors, so it was perfect to enjoy the beautiful weather, but not be in the sun. Our waitress was wonderful, the food we ordered was delicious, and we will definitely be back!
