    Carter our server was great!! Had walleye it was excellent, love the broccoli too!! Husband had their special roasted chicken, always very good!! Great drinks and wine list! Huge desserts too!! Highly recommend

    We were in town for a week for Mayo Clinic appointments and ate at Chester’s three times because it was so amazing; the best of all the other places we tried. The Walleye and chicken and rice soup with the cornbread were big hits.

    My bride and I have been visiting in the Rochester area for a few days. We checked Trip Advisor for good restaurants to try. Chester’s Kitchen and Bar was #1 on the list and for good reason. We dined there twice in three days; first for dinner and later for lunch. On both occasions we had exceptional meals and service in an inviting atmosphere. At dinner, I had an excellent filet mignon steak and my bride had the Walleye; both were exceptional. At lunch, I had the fish and chips and my bride had the French dip; again, both were terrific. The servers we had on each visit were were especially noteworthy; Devon took care of us at dinner and Gail at lunch. Both of these ladies were amazing—prompt, personable and professional. We enjoyed getting briefly acquainted with both and we cannot overstate how much they each contributed to our most pleasant dining experiences. We were also impressed with manager, Annie, who answered our questions and gave us recommendations for other affiliated restaurants. Finally, another member of the staff, Fidel, who brought our food to the table during both our visits was helpful and friendly sharing his insights. Our thanks goes to all these great professionals for making us feel welcome in the Rochester area and proving the # 1 rating on Trip Advisor is well deserved.

    The food was mediocre at best. The first plate that I was given to split the appetizer I had caked on food, stuck all over it, I couldn’t get the waitress to come over to our table, so I ended up using the serving plate as my plate. We then sat for 10 or 15 minutes with a stack of dirty dishes at our table while different busers, delivered bread and our entrées, but wouldn’t take all of the dirty dishes away until we asked them to. The waitress rarely came to our table. She never asked for a second round of drinks, we ran out of water. We then had to wait 20 minutes at the end of our entrées for the waitress to come over and asked if we wanted dessert, we said no, she left. Came back seven minutes later asked if we were ready for our check, we said yes She brought the check back to us. Left again, came back another 5 to 10 minutes later finally. Just the whole experience was frustrating and it is not a place I would go again.

    The Tuesday mushroom thyme soup is excellent. Great place for a lunch or dinner if in downtown Rochester.

    A fun little place in the heart of Rochester. Tucked into the downtown mall space. Food was good, well portioned and filling. The main meal was prepare as we asked, but lacked substantial flavour...assumed it was on us to add pepper and such, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. We ordered a burger, so we got to make the burger our own in that regard. Much rather have it that way than have something overly salted or peppered. We were there on a Saturday Night and could easily have a conversation without having to raise our voices, and the wait staff was very attentive. The prices were really reasonable for the fare we ordered. Worth dropping into if you have never been...
