Outstanding experience. Would certainly go back to this restaurant.
Our lunch was delicious, and our steak perfectly served. We ate outside and we will be back.
The ambience of the restaurant is superb. The service was good. I was disappointed in my steak. I thought the NY Strip was thin but it was cooked to my request. For the $58 price, I expected a better steak.
Staff was excellent and service was A+
Top Notch Service from Start to Finish. Our waiters were super patient with our 6 and 9 year olds. They knew when to refill glasses and to appropriate levels that were manageable for them. They provided a split dish for them to share and yet keep them feeling like that had their own order.
The Lavender Collins is a must to try! Great recommendation from the Manager, Derrick.
Derrick, was very accommodating and ensured a Fine Dining experience even for a family of 4. Courses were well paced and when kids began to get restless, they were able to speed dessert up to meet our needs and children’s attention span.
I would definitely recommend the experience and will be back. Maybe just with Mom next time.
always love this place for a business mtg, solid food and service. And you gotta love Lamar!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We did the dinner for 2 and it was INCREDIBLE. A great amount of quality, delicious food with fantastic service. Will be returning.
The Prix Fixe menu was an excellent value. Service was outstanding, and my server replaced my cocktail to another one that I preferred, no questions asked. Outdoor dining was very pleasant and was able to hear the bell tower chime across the street and see many joggers go by.
We had a good time in spite of the server being overwhelmed. The dinner should’ve taken about an hour but ended up taking about 2 1/2. We were seated outside and by the time we were done we were eating and pitch black because the sun had gone down. We had a twice baked potato that was not that great and the rest of the food was average. I’d go back in a pinch but wouldn’t go out of my way.
Perfect great food and service as always!
Great place. Good food. Good service nice atmosphere. I recommend it highly
We had a wonder experience! They waiters are professional, very kind and ready to serve you to overall have a wonderful experience.
Great food and service. The Porter house steak was wonderful
This is a DC heavy-hitter steakhouse - it's been outstanding in the past - this experience was not outstanding. The staff seemed to be only half-interested in serving us with more people standing around than being attentive. The place was only half-full. The waiter took our drink orders and then we waited for 15 minutes before he realized we never got them. We ordered wine and food and all was fine - they brought my steak - which was entirely the wrong cut (I ordered the NY strip and ended up with some sort of ribeye) - luckily the matre-de noticed and quickly corrected it. But the steak was obviously hurried and just not up to what it should be at this place. We were hoping for an epic night out with great steaks, great wine and great service... the wine was great - the rest was lacking this time.
It seems like the kitchen is still getting back into the groove of high end dining. My fish was over-cooked and the sides lacked a some seasoning.
However, the waitstaff and bar staff were very attentive and did a wonderful job making us feel welcome.
I think being closed for such a long time was hard, but am confident the restaurant will recover to the top notch steak house we know and have loved for the last 10 years.
Outside seating was great. But felt neglected in terms of service. Our order was wrong. No refills for drinks until we asked and it was very late. Probably felt our order wasn’t high ticket enough so didn’t warrant the attention.
We went for our 25th Anniversary, as noted on the reservation, but they didn't even acknowledge that, which was fine. I ordered the DC Bibb Salad to start and unfortunately
it had zero flavor. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and it was good, but it came out very overdone. My husband had the Spring Risotto and he said it had good flavor but wished there were other vegetables to offset the starchiness of the ingredients. We also ordered a side of broccoli and Mac and Cheese. We both really liked the Mac and Cheese, but the broccoli was barely blanched and crunchy. I prefer mine soft, but even if I forget to request that most places cook it more than that. Overall, it was underwhelming and perhaps we went on a bad day, because the reviews were phenomenal, but I think we both agree we wouldn't go back.
Welcome back and it was like going home again. So glad Charlie Palmer's in DC has reopened. It was great to see familiar faces of the staff and as always the outstanding food and service.
I liked the service and the attention we received on a special occasion. However, the steak I ordered was not good. I expect better from this restaurant and I was disappointed. I will not be returning any time soon,
Food was subpar
There are lots of "expensive account" steakhouses in Washington, DC -- ranging from dining rooms that feature a rustic, wood paneled ambience, to a few that depart from the cliched traditional decor in favor of a more refined and sophisticated ambience. Charlie Palmer's falls into the latter category, offering the usual array of steak and seafood specialties, but served in a polished contemporary environment located within sight of the Capitol. We find the change refreshing, and the menu, while hardly innovative for the genre, high quality and satisfying. In sum, it's a refreshing alternative to the Capitol Grills and Ruth Chris' of the world, and well worth experiencing.
We sat outside and still had great service!!
Rodrigo my waitress was excellent food was good and very affordable for a nice dinner in the DC region.
The food was not great for the price. The steak was ok...surprising for a steakhouse. The lobster was “stuffed” with ritz crackers and garlic butter. Sheesh!
Pretty bad experience. Was overcharged for a dish ordered (different price when charged from what was shown on the menu). Extreme long wait between courses. In consistently prepared food.
I have been going to CP since it opened many years ago. It has been at the top for American DC Steakhouse. No frills not insane menu, impeccable service, delicious food. I am so glad it is back after this pandemic. I will be a regular again.
Excited to take my wife downtown to lunch at Charlie Palmers. It is a steakhouse and so we decided on the Steak Friets. New York Strip with french fries and a salad for $36, Wellfleet Oysters and a glass of wine. Oysters were spot on, but when the Steak Friets came out, I thought someone was playing a prank on us. The "steak" was literally less than 1/4 of an inch thick. We both looked at each other and laughed as to why they asked how we wanted it cooked, as it was cooked through. Probably 30 seconds a side would do it. They should be embarrassed to serve a dish like this. Service was fine, but team was stretched thin. Unlikely to come back and hard to recommend.
Fabulous service & food. The Rosemary lemon drop was off the chart!
Excellent service starting with the Manager and GM!!!
Our server and the manger couldn’t have been any better.
When an issue arose with our meals both without missing a beat went above and beyond.
Extremely friendly and attentive team. Highly recommend and look forward to dining again.
Very nice experience. Service was a little off. Missed a drink order and wine came out late.
Danny & Lamar were wonderful! Lamar was an outstanding bartender & Danny w wonderful server. Justin did great with desserts. Support staff were outstanding!
Celebrating my engagement with my future wife was amazing thanks to their staff. We intended to have it there before the pandemic hit last year, but had to cancel it. This time around when I made the reservation and explained what happened, the restaurant made sure we had a great experience just like what we wanted to have a year ago. We will definitely go back there we really loved it. You guys are amazing.
I was so happy to hear that Charlie Palmer reopened! The food and service was top notch. Lamar is my favorite bartender in the city and it was great to see him again after all of this time. I look forward to getting back more often.
Food was fantastic... Best steaks we've had! Highly recommend!
This was my first time back at Charlie Palmer’s since the pandemic and it is better than ever! The service was perfect and the new menu is wonderful.
Great food and service. Waiters were all great and professional
