Very good food and great service. Will go back again soon!
Every dish tasted awesome! Try the chilli paneer and saag ghosht
Atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. We didn’t have try and get there a attention a few times to get served again. Also we requested a booth to sit in and they said they were reserved and then most of them sat empty for the whole evening. The food was nice but not spectacular. Nice experience - but I wouldn’t go for just the food.
we loved the food and it tasted quite authentic. However it did seem quite expensive , considering its a new joint and I wouldn't go back to soon
Advertised as Indian street food, this is what is best at this restaurant. They were very good indeed, significantly better than the mains in my opinion. Next time we will order a greater variety of the street food starters and try the the tandoori menu.
It is fairly pricey, but not over the top.
Near ambience, a fun venue and a nice outing for a group.
I would recommend it and will return.
A real find. Lively but not too noisy. Excellent friendly service and delicious food. A good place for celebrations but also good for dinner for two.
Had an amazing time ..
Also a lovely early birthday treat.. Thank you so much
Amazing food and value for money. The chilli paneer is to die for! A great selection on the menu.
I found the food to be too salty especially the pakora. The paneer was too soft and squishy. The lamb in the biryani was too chewy.
The services was great though, our waiter was good. The bullet spicy wings were not spicy at all, I don’t ever eat spicy food yet I had 2 wings without a problem.
Great catch up with friends. Good food and good atmosphere
Good food, would come back again.
Downside, we had to ask 4 times for no coriander on our food and the live music was a little too loud.
A great Indian restaurant hidden away in Camden but I know the area so it was easy to find.
The paapdi chaat for starters was divine (5 per portion) but the croutons accompanying the bhaaji pau fondue were too tough to absorb the curry and should be replaced with soft bread. The paani pooru we noticed on the next table was presented very well.
We also weren't disappointed by the lamb chops & vegetarian thaali (subziyon kea khazaana).
Atmosphere was vibrant, décor authentic & there was a good flow of customers.
Advise to book in advance. You won't be disappointed!
We went on a sunday lunchtime and it was literally empty.. waitress and service was food but some of the food was not served how described on menu, but the set up is very nice and maybe on a busier day it would have been a more fun dining experience.
This is the 2nd time I’ve visited and food was good, service good, cocktails were nice. Will visit again for sure
Chai Thali is a family-friendly place, tucked away in a quiet back street at the edge of Camden Town - you would never find it if you didn't know it was there. Despite this it was full on a Saturday night.
The decor matches its Indian sub-continent street food menu. The food is very good, and is essentially a "cleaned up" version of the street foods you would find in the various parts of India, along with the Indian restaurant classics.
It is not the place for a quiet romantic dinner (the roaming toddlers will see to that!) but a good place for an interesting & fun meal.
Very good experience and great value
Would definitely go back
It's a nice size restaurant and easy to find parking. Food and service was good. They need an experienced cocktail mixologist if they want to continue offering cocktails. But overall it was good.
Great service and starters, mains were a bit average though.
It was just okay! The cocktails were interesting... food was average...
The place has great decor and fantastic fast service. Unfortunately when it comes to the food it is not really that authentic tasting and portion sizes should be improved. This is a real shame as the place definitely has the look and ambiance but does not deliver on the authentic taste, and is a too toned down version of typical Indian street food.
Pretty average Indian food no wow factor the only bit that is different is the dessert. Heard so much about this place but turned out to be a bit of a let down .. very much geared for western taste buds nothing was spicy even though marked as hot on the menu
Nice restaurant. Can't help comparing it to Dishoom. Food is tasty but a bit heavy/oily. Will visit again.
Fantastic restaurant and food was super too. The cocktails were great and overall it was great place to celebrate my dad's birthday with the whole family. Would recommend it to friends and family alike.
Just like mama use to cook - from home to home variety is the spice of life and at Chai Thali you will definitely get that.
Staff were attentive and pleasant.
the atmoshere and decor was well thought out and appealing.
we had a fabulous evening out.
Service was quite poor. The guy who brought the food to the table did not bother to tell us what are the dishes and could not handle the pots properly. he sweared when he found the pots too hot to handle. expensive for the area the restaurant is in.
Great place. We had lunch that was relaxed and the food and cocktails were amazing!!
Good food, nice deco, friendly staff. Wil definitely we going again.
Thought I'd posted a review for this place already but anyway; food was great & really authentic, service was attentive & cocktails were pretty alcoholic!
Great streetfood. Nice ambience and decor, lovely staff, and superb food. Definitely go! Cocktails are totally amazing.
Very impressed with food. Spicy but not too hot. Lovely flavours came through.
Will return to try the thali next time.
Fantastic find hidden on a side street in Camden, which has an extensive vegetarian selection. The food is truly authentic with a lingering spicy tingle on your tongue. Can't wait to come back again soon to sample the rest of the menu.
The restaurant is tucked away down a side alley you wouldn't expect to find the restaurant. The food was very nice and would recommend the lamb chops, dhaaba murg, and lamb shank nihari.
Amazing food, service and athmosphere! Can't wait to go again
I enjoyed the food here. The starters were really good - a group of us shared 6-7 starters and every dish was nice. The mains were a little hit and miss. The prawn curry and chicken curry were amazing but the lamb was not that tasty and a bit dry and the daal was a little bland. I ordered a mango lassi which did not taste nice at all I would not recommend that. Service was great. Would return to try the other starters.
Service was attentive, decor and ambience good. Lots of veggie starters but not enough main meal options and those on the list are not as interesting as the meat options. The staff didn't know about allergens though did find out but got suffering answers from
different staff so didn't risk these dishes and didn't eat a main. Would have been more professional to have an allergen menu or symbols on the menu. Staff do need training on this especially eggfree options for Indian vegetarians- weird they got so confused since it's an Indian restaurant!
The jasmine lemon drink was vile- they didn't offer to change it. I had the paneer jalapeños which weren't great- jalapeño skin was firm and the filling was literally just paneer- really bland dish. Was marked spicy but was just flavourless. Samosa chaat was good but quite spicy (not marked so). My husband had prawns and lamb chops which were good and he really loved the dhaba style chicken.
The kulfi was fab but the carrot halwa was repulsive! That's a strong word but it really was horrid- the worst I've ever had.
Great place, delicious food and very friendly staff!
There was a fear that style would trump substance upon entering, but such thoughts a re quickly quashed when the food, which was indeed stylish, was backed up by very solid cooking. Portions look dainty but were actually very generous in their contents.
Service was a wee slow, but still new, this is to be expected.
At 50% off, dinner was excellent value and perhaps without the offer, still pretty decent in this regard.
really enjoyed this interesting menu, decor and attentive staff. Well presented and prompt. Looking forward to returning in a large group!
Chai Thali was a great little find - the menu is varied and interesting. We shared a number of smaller dishes (tapas style) and then had mains. We had no space for dessert though they looked good. The cocktails were great and the service was very accomodating. Would return.
