Casa Calavera has an open-air, “feet in the sand” feel with interiors that feature traditional Mexican calavera art and a nod to the colorful Día de los Muertos theme. Authentic furniture pieces and lighting highlight the local culture with an array of architectural finishes, from Mexican tiles and vibrant murals to rustic wood details and stacked stone. Enter the cantina via a long corridor with special reveals that create a dramatic sense of arrival and set the tone for this fun and energetic venue that is set to entertain every day of the week.
I think Mexican music should be played the music choice was loud and definitely not dinner music
Knew nothing about the place except from Open Table reviews. Picked both because of proximity to where we were staying and that it is in the ocean. We drove and where pleased that resort in which it is located offers valet parking (for which they didn’t charge / but for the convenience of I have a large cash tip. The resort is an amazing design destination in its own right. The entrance to the actual restaurant is one of the most visually stunning I have ever surveyed, which carries over to the dining room itself. We were a family get together of five; and after a short discussion we delegated our food choices to our waiter (Nata?). His choices were superb. The food is artful in both taste and presentation. This is a high end restaurant so expect a commensurate bill: but we all thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend as a splurge. The only other factor to consider - we dined early - the wind off the water was cold, they supplied warm blankets - but consider taking layers with you.
nathaniel was excellent server ~ right on the ocean booth
taco tuesday did not disappoint ~ great live band amazing decor ~ loved it
Beautiful Mexican restaurant, interesting decor and the prices were extremely reasonable. I will be back for sure since I am a resident of Cabo.
There are so many great restaurants in San Jose Del Cabo but this isn’t one of them. This was a beautiful resort with terrible food and terrible margaritas. We ordered the taco sample platter and left half of it. What a disappointment.
We got to the restaurant a little early and it was a little cold but the waiters soon had blankets for us. Food was very good with great presentation. Beautiful view. Only complaint was we couldn't have coffee after our meal.
This restaurant was amazing. Great servers and atmosphere! I will definitely come back when I’m in Cabo again.
Very cool. Amazing environment. Love decor. Day of the dead never looked so alive.
Un excelente lugar para ir a festejar algo especial o simplemente para disfrutar con los amigos de una buena comida y buena música. Juan nuestro mesero super atento en todo momento y un servicio excelente . Sin duda regresaría para disfrutar de la comida y el ambiente
Believe they could revisit price point of drinks with the idea of reducing ie. wine by the glass and margaritas.
Great place to watch the sunset in Cabo. We ordered an appetizer to start the meal off and it came with a pitcher of margaritas. We meant to order dinner. Both the taco app and margaritas were awesome. But way too much for just the two of us. Wish we had saved room for diner but the app was amazing great variety. And they made sure there was no cheese due to allergy.
Service was excellent. Views lovely. The day club next door has some pretty loud music so it can get noisy. Overall great evening.
Tucked into the Vidanta Resort and next to the Omnia nightclub is this fun and fabulous Mexican restaurant. Its right on the beach with upscale and fun food, Day of the Dead decor and moderate prices. Great for casual lunch or dinner when in San Jose del Cabo.
My boyfriend and I went to Casa Calavera for his birthday and also our first night in Cabo. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Ambiance was perfect. Food was outstanding. Juan, our server, was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back before we leave town. 10/10 would recommend.
I recommend Casa Calavera for anyone looking for top-notch service, quality ingredients, craft cocktails, with a tank top vibe. Hard to find something so classy but still so relaxed. Great combo!
Great ambiance and superb dining experience.
Overall the experience was a good one. The only criticism was their choice of music and it’s noise level. It was not condusive to having a complete enjoyable experience. Change the music and bring the volume level down.
Festive and fun Mexican dining in Cabo. Fresh and creative dining experience with food to match the experience.
Great view!!! Great service !! Delicious food!!!
We were seated at a dirty table. The table was cleaned quickly so we decided to let it go and enjoy a nice dinner. We ordered appetizers, the queso and Tostitos, and cocktails from the menu. The drinks tasted cheap and overly sweet and the appetizers were not very good. The experience was so bad that we decided to leave before eating dinner. However, we could hardly find our server to bring the check. It was overall a very disappointing experience given the high ratings.
For our son’s birthday, our server brought out a dessert with a huge sparkler ignited. Quite impressive! Taco Tuesday is great for trying the many varieties offered, all delicious. Open air dining on the ocean makes for a special experience!
awesome food and service! Alex was great
Service was slow and inefficient, everything else was fine. It was taco Tuesday, tacos are good. This place has great al pastor tacos but it seems they only serve them at special events and not part of their regular menu. No clue why...enjoyed the live music while dining.
Rodrigo Cortes is the man! Ask for him - he is an excellent, knowledgable waiter who is sincere and makes the dining experience a pleasure. We went on my birthday for the first time and wished we had discovered it earlier on our vacation. It was recommended by someone staying at our resort. First, let me say the decore is spectacular and must be seen! The food is wonderful - we particulary enjoyed the tortilla soup. It is the best we have EVER had! Hibiscus margarita was wonderful. We will be back next year! Thanks again, Rodrigo.
Great food, great service and beautiful location. The addition of a bingo like game made the evening fun.
We went to Casa Calavera on Thursday night after the San Jose Art walk and we had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and the ambiance was very cool. I would highly recommend coming here. There was a live band with salsa dancing that night, although it led to a fun environment the music was a little loud and it was hard to have a conversation. I’m not sure if they have live music every night but I would highly recommend this place regardless. Ricardo was our waiter and he was fantastic, we will come back!
The hotel is stunning, so walking to the restaurant was beautiful. The food was incredible. We’ve eaten at many places in Los Cabos, and this tops the list. It’s definitely a must try. The avocado taco and beer batter shrimp tacos were beyond delicious.
Our dinner was delicious and the margaritas were outstanding. Live music was playing but we were still able to enjoy the conversation. Our waiter, Diego, was friendly and very helpful with our orders. The painted murals were fabulous and the walk to the restaurant thru a cool lobby and outdoor area is worth the visit!
We went on a Tuesday evening which also happened to be Christmas Day. We didn’t know ahead of time that Tuesday is “Taco Tuesday” and that is all the serve along with a few appetizers. However, the tacos were amazing and they offered a good variety (~ 15 different tacos) and it was all you can eat for 450 Pesos. The service was very attentive but they did mess up our order a few times but were good to correct it. The view and atmosphere is amazing!
Juan really looked after us. He left us alone to be able to enjoy our meal and conversation, and was attentive enough to know when we needed something. The food was outstanding; from the 1-2-3 ceviche to one of the best steaks I’ve experienced in a very long time.
We had a prix fixe menu for Christmas eve. Nothing was fresh and it was obvious they were just serving items that was cooked earlier in the day. Food was not very flavorful unfortunately.
Wonderful dinner at Casa Calavera..... two thumbs up ... great food..... def coming back !
Good place to walk to for dinner, interesting interior design. We chose to sit outside which was wonderful. Dining is casual and do not be in a hurry. margaritas are fabulous, the waiter attempted to get us to order the American version of margarita, but we politely declined and order great margaritas from the drink menu. Food choices somewhat limited. 2 in our party has the enchiladas, 1 had the chicken mole and I had the fresh catch of the day. The Mexican dishes were better than the catch of the day which could have used more seasonings. We also ordered the pico and guacamole, the menu said table side guacamole which we thought would be made at our table.this didn’t occur, the salsa are really good. We will return. Service could have been better, waiter was not attentive, they either were short staff or he simply was not a good waiter.
Restaurant ambiance is ok, when I went with my wife the place was empty, actually that is ok for me, I asked for a burger cooked medium, and I recieved it almost well done, the good thing was that actually tasted really good
todo bien pero el servicio lento los meseros no hacen caso
Food is good and a good value except for Taco Tuesday. It’s a special menu with all you can eat tacos for $450 mx. On the regular menu they are about $3 usd each. So you would have to eat 7 tacos on the all you can eat to break even. We saw people walk out, others complaining and others just ordering appetizers and a salad. That was a ripoff but the regular menu is good.
The tacos were terrible... the place is amazing... the beer super expensive
First stop of our vacation! Amazing food, service, ambiance and decor. Very reasonably priced as well.
We had tacos, guacamole, whole fish and the best grapefruit margarita.
Will definitely be back!
Love it! The place is amazing the food delicious just have to admit that the service is slow!
