Good as usual. Glad to be out supporting local El Paso.
Though safety precautions were being taken, service was “as if any other day” and it was comforting.
Server was attentive, kind, and always ensured we had everything we needed.
Great job taking precautions to be open during these times. All was great and spotless
Overall, the meal was good, but not great. We had the Dinner for Two which consisted of green chili soup (salty) and choice of entrès with vegetables (salty) of the day. My wife had the sea bass (a little too sweet) and I had the RibEye Steak (excellent). We chose to sit in the patio. To my disappointment the table cloths were rumpled and worn with one having a hole a quarter sized hole. Cafe Centrale, i know you can do better.
Great quality food for the cost. It was my companion's first time in an upscale restaurant and the server was quite amicable about it. The beef carpaccio, lobster ravioli, and mousse tower were particular stand outs.
The day’s special was fabulous. Bone-in tenderloin was cooked to perfection. The service was top notch, as always. It was very quiet, allowing is to have a good business discussion. That’s not normal, and unfortunately this was caused by the ongoing global situation. I can’t wait to return with my family. My thanks and best wishes to the staff.
My dear friends from El Paso told me about Cafe Central - they have been going to this restaurant for years. What an amazing place. We had a very long dinner, amazing conversations (that we could hear), I had a GREAT glass of their private reserve Cabernet - their Cesar salad (it was too hot to try the soup they are known for), friends had cocktails (they LOVED them) and other salads. I tried the chef steak special with bone marrow and mushrooms (amazing flavor), Victoria had lobster ravioli, and our other friend had Scallops. Let me say, none of us left any food on our plates. Thank you for a VERY enjoyable dining experience. We were not rushed, the service was perfect and the food was top notch. I just wish I had not given up sugar for lent (lol). Thank you for what you do.
Food was amazing. Drinks were so good! Tally our waitress was so knowledgeable and nice and funny! Made my wife’s birthday truly special!
Amazing service, amazing restaurant, amazing waiter! This was my first visit and my wife and I will be returning many more times
Oh after going out to eat with my wife and daughter for my birthday, I discussed the dinning experience with my co-workers. Some of them have experience with fine dinning while others do not. They were all in aggressive that they want to try and eat here.
Cesar outstanding service as usual. Charles the Mgr hospitable
This restaurant has nice decor but for fine dining it was very loud. Patrons are up and down alot to go smoke. The waiter we had was super nice but not as attentive as most done dining places. The food was prepared well but it is nothing special. The out door seating faces an alley way so nothing much to see there. I would go back if I was with a group that wanted to attend but would not pick again on my own.
Amazing place. It’s so classy but inviting. The staff was so nice. The food was to die for and the wine was amazing!
The food is no longer the interesting culinary experience. The menu is the same for years and the specials are not specials. We are always treated so well but for the cost of the culinary especience.... it is not worth the money.
The Chef needs to expand what is offered... or its time for a top Chef that has true culinary education, experience, and ingenuity.
I appreciate good food and wine
Great dining for date night!
A very good dinner, but not as good as usual. Food was overall very good-- wife had the Chilean sea bass, very good, but the portion size seemed a little smaller than in the past. I had the tomahawk pork chop, which was very good, the second time around. When I ordered the pork chop I asked that it be prepared pink in the middle. When it came, it was evident that the pork chop had been cut improperly--one end of the chop as about an inch and a half thick, while the other end was only about a half inch thick and consequently, while properly medium rare at the thick end, it was overcooked at the thin end. When I pointed it out to the server, he apologized and offered to bring another one. However, about five minutes later, the maitre d' came to the table with my original pork chop cut open at the thick end and showed me how it was properly cooked. I had to again point out how the thin end of the chop was overcooked due to the chop not being butchered properly. I thought it VERY tacky of him to attempt to sell me again, on the first chop. If he had just brought a new chop as originally promised I'd have had no complaint--things do happen. To make matters worse, when the waiter brought the bill, I was charged for two pork chops and then at the bottom of the bill a credit for one pork chop was entered with the annotation "BAD CUT". Similarly, the restaurant nicely gave us a plate of chocolate covered strawberries in recognition of our anniversary celebration (and they were fantastic BTW), but i was charged $10 for them, and then credited the amount at the bottom with the annotation "ANNIV". Before I could even question it, the waiter apologized for the additions and deletions stating it was required for the restaurant's "accounting requirements" VERY TACKY and declasse'.
However, the service was excellent! Server, Jason, was outstanding. And the second chop was delivered very quickly. A good recovery. And the bread service, frequently criticized by others, was flawless.
An excellent special occasion restaurant. The ambience is very traditional, with servers catering to your every need, white linen tablecloths, an array of silverware for various courses, and even a live singer and grand piano.
The menu is much more contemporary and the ingredients are very fresh. In fact, the seafood sampler we shared was better than most seafood I've had in coastal locations like LA or Seattle.
Spendy but well worth it for that special occasion.
AWESOME restaurant! Every bite of food we put in our mouths was wonderful! Delicious drinks and tasty bread started off our meal! From soup to salads, to escargot, to Chilean Sea Bass to Linguine, to Tres Leches Cake.....all were amazing! Service was perfect, and we were checked on many times by several staff members. The manager even took us out the rear door to meet our Uber driver! We could not have asked for a more perfect evening!
Everything was great!! The food was delicious, I would like back soon!!
Outstanding top of the line service. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants all time
Had a wonderful birthday celebration
We had a great time! Your waiter went above and beyond and customer service and making the experience amazing.
Excellent food and beautiful atmosphere.
It was beautiful, however there are separate rooms for dining. There is an open room where there is a live music and a back room with a more intimate space.
The actual server is not at fault for the lower end service rating. In fact, he’s the reason it was not lower. Unfortunately for him, the system messed him up. The second bread took forever to get to me (did not get there until the actual meal arrived). And then when the new arrived, no one came to give us our steak knives. Thus, we were not able to eat until our server came back and we point out to him that we had not gotten our knives yet. Also, being seated next to a wall when there was an open table next to us was not appreciated. Especially when I made a reservation and was on time for the appointment (15 minutes early actually).
Amazing food. Was walking distance from hotel. Food is very good. Service was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
Had a great time at Cafe Central. The only downside was that the salmon had a “fishy” taste to it. I’ve had better salmon at other less expensive restaurants.
This is a tough one. Since we’ve arrived in El Paso all we have heard is about how amazing Cafe Central is.
With the wife and myself being avid ‘foodies’ this seemed like a perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Having been lucky enough to have experienced dining in establishments run by individuals like Janos Wilder and Joel Robuchon we were excited to have something local that was on par with that. Unfortunately it was not.
First and foremost, their staff was incredible and helpful. If you’re going for a nice night out these are the people you want serving you. Their sommelier was very knowledgeable and engaging, working tirelessly with my wife to choose a wine she would enjoy. They also pour generous glasses of wine, far more than is average I’ve found. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the liquor. First issue is, they ridiculously overcharge for their scotch. A glass of 25 year Macallan usually goes for around $65-$80. Ive found it as high as $105 in New York and $100 at Chandelier Bar in Vegas. Here they want an insane $165 a glass and it’s not even the full 2 oz. It’s half that. The pricing on this alone was a testament to how the rest of the evening would go.
The food was a very mixed bag. The brioche with caviar was very good and the octopus carpaccio was incredible. However, the wife’s Chilean sea bass was a travesty with a mushy center and my tenderloin was more medium than medium rare. We finished the evening with their signature tres leches cake and it was also very underwhelming.
At the end of the night it was a $300 tab that was maybe worth half of that (I passed on the 25 year and had 18 year scotch at a $45 price tag). Overall, I’m not sure what all the hype about this place was for because it left us with a pretty unsatisfied experience overall. Was a bummer because everyone I talked to said this was ‘the place’ here in El Paso.
I realize that on Valentine’s Day it’s bound to be a rush but we went for a late lunch and waited 30 minutes just for wine and over an hour for our food. We were fortunate to grab the bread guy walking around but he only came once and forgot to bring butter. The food was absolutely delicious but the service was probably the worst I’ve experienced in a while.
We were very disappointed with our experience here. There were various issues with the service. To begin, our waiter did not tend to us for about 5 min after being sat at the table. Then, after we ordered food, they did not bring the bread we order with our soup. It then about 15 min to get the bread out to us, which the soup was cold by then. However, the green chile soup tasted very good, as did the rosemary bread. Next, they forgot to bring a side of jalapeño broth with the salmon, which I had ordered. Even after reminding the waiter, we never received it. The waiter also never brought us more water throughout the entire meal, even after being asked twice to bring it. I thought that perhaps our experience was unique since it is a little more upscale of a restaurant, but the couple sitting next to us had to complain to the manager for many of the same reasons. They ha da different waiter than we did, so it seems to be an establishment issue more than a waiter issue. I would not recommend this restaurant specifically because of the poor service. The food was good, but not worth dealing with the service issues.
The service was incredible slow. We were at our table without drinks for about 10 to 15 minutes at first. The service crew looked scattered and all over the place.
Such a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal and great service.
The food was outstanding and tasted even better than we imagined.
It was great, great food and service!
The only complaint that I had was the wait on the food took longer then going to Ruth’s Chris.
