Originally built in 1832 as the Cross Keys Hotel we have been serving the locals of Blaenavon and beyond for almost 200 years.

Great evening at Butterflies. Able to cater for all of us & we also all had a choice of what to eat - our party included a vegetarian, vegan & gluten free. Managed a dessert & the brownie cheesecake was amazing. Will definitely be back.

The starters were awesome. The surf and turf experience as out of this world, generous portion of zlobster, steaks cooked to perfection, succulent prawns and scallops, delicious Mussels and everything else. A truly unique experience even if there was enough food for 3 people. (The dogs enjoyed the steak we failed to finish). All in all a wonderful experience for our wedding anniversary. Thank you Butterflys.

Warm welcome, staff were friendly, chatty and attentative. Food was absolutely beautiful, haf 3 courses and could not fault it.

Our first time at Butterflies and it won't be our last. Extremely fast service, super friendly staff, tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and the food was amazing. Portion sizes, including the starters (lovely large chicken tacos!) were larger than expected, especially the steaks. Food is presented well and the steaks are the best (they even give you a hot plate if you prefer it well done). The vegetarian menu is varied, something for everyone, and beautifully presented. It's a small restaurant and always busy so can get quite noisy if there is a large party present. Book well in advance to get the times and day you require but you won't be disappointed! There didn't appear to be a service charge on the bill so be sure to leave a tip as the staff clearly work very hard here and deserve every penny.

I had yet another wonderful experience at BBK for their Sunday roast. The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly roasted meats, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and all the traditional sides were cooked to perfection. It’s clear they take great care in sourcing their ingredients and preparing the meal. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a relaxing Sunday meal. However, I do have a couple of minor points to note. As we were seated under the speaker, the music was a bit on the loud side, which made it a little difficult to have a conversation without raising our voices. Additionally, after finishing our meal, there was quite a long wait for the bill, which was a bit frustrating after such an otherwise enjoyable experience. All in all, I’d highly recommend BBK for their fantastic food, but maybe with a request for the music to be turned down a notch and a bit more efficiency in the post-meal service. I’ll definitely be back!
