We wondered why Brasserie Blanc was virtually empty when we visited and the restaurant just down the way from it was packed, and we found out. The limited menu offered some French standards, but there was not a lot of choice. I had the cheese soufflé as a starter and quickly regretted it. While perfectly adequate, it emerged far too fast from the kitchen to have been made properly, and so I was not surprised that it bore a close resemblance to the frozen cheese soufflés that you can buy at Waitrose...only those are superior in my view. For my main course, I had another starter, as I usually cannot eat an appetiser and a main course. This time I had the pea and feta croquettes, which my husband had as a starter, and again, I regretted my choice. These croquettes too were warmed up from frozen, or possibly deep fried from frozen, but they were stodgy and lacking in much flavour. My husband had the sea bream which had been thououghly overcoooked. Poor fish died in vain. Our dinner guest fared better than we did. He ordered the trout gravlax which was delicious. For his main course, he ordered pork belly which, judging by the way he devoured it, must have been ok, but I declined to taste it For dessert we had the creme brûlée. More regret. We enjoyed a reasonablly priced rosé with our meal, but sadly, we will not be back...We'll follow the crowds next door.

the setting was very good- helped by a great Summers evening. The staff were polite and attentive. we wer not rushed so we were able to enjoyu a sociable meal. The food and wine were very good. we will go again.

The food was excellent, and overall good value for money. We especially liked the bottomless roast potatoes and the superb cherry tart. The restaurant is smart and welcoming and we will most probably come back.

The service was extremely rude and inattentive. Clearly ignoring guests whilst chatting to friends, and gives off a not welcoming vibe, despite having a brilliant location and menu to offer. Really disappointing visit overall…
