Great ambiance. Fun and lively. The food was awful. I shouldn’t say awful, but simply bland. No flavor, very plain. If the food quality bumped up just a bit, it would be a great place to go.

The fish fry was on the fishier side, but you'd expect that with skin-on. Our table was adjacent to the stage so we couldn't hear the person next to us. Service was good and very fast and the cuisine was good and authentic. Overall a lot of fun for a birthday dinner.

Very loud music to the point where we couldn’t talk to each other. The fish fry was not good. They accidentally charged us $5 per applesauce that comes with the potato pancake for the fish fry. We will not be back.

The Friday night fish fry is normally ok but the place is fun. Tonight the walleye was horrible. Full of bones. Smelled fishy. Hard and inedible.

The building itself was impressive with German decor everywhere and we enjoyed that. We did notice that no one has weeded the exterior in quite some time and that usually shows a lack of interest in keeping things up. There was some German music but it was few and far between with the music from all sorts of categories and when I asked, I was told the bar tender chose the music. I thought it was about the customers not the bar tenders choice. The food was ok and when I mentioned that a couple of items were just ok, the waiter said he hears that alot.

I have enjoyed the food at Bavarian Bierhaus since I first arrived in Milwaukee. The food had always been good, large portions and reasonably priced. I looked forward to bringing an out of town guest there for dinner. Was first surprised to learn that they no longer served wiener schnitzel, but managed to get over that. Then the waiter told us that he thought that they were out of pork. When I asked to confirm, he was certain. So, chicken was the only schnitzel available I and my dining companion both ordered soup and entrees. After a time, the waiter came back to let my friend know that they were out of the side that she ordered with her entree. She chose something else, and immediately, he was back with both of our entrees and my soup. He was surprised both by me expecting the soup before the entree and also that he hadn't put in for my friend's soup. "Really, you wanted the soup first??". Mine was cold. Not refrigerator cold, but tepid-- room temperature cold (and it wasn't gazpacho). My friend's soup (a different kind) was scalding. When I saw the waiter again, I asked for my soup to be warmed up. He came back with a new bowl, colder than the first. I will say that my entree was marginally warmer than the soup had been. The only bright spot was that we arrived in time to get a discount on our entrees. It was slightly dimmed by the suggested tip, on their electronic system that was used with the waiter still there during the signing, was based on the total bill (ie, including the tip). I won't be back.
