This place is wonderful start to finish. The ambiance is cool-casual but elevated. The food is off the charts. The chef even came out to see what we thought. Seems he had put of bit of his story into every dish. The paella was gorgeous and the ribeye was done perfectly. The vegetarians among us had a few options including a killer curascuro that surprised us all. Great wine list!
Very slow service and no communication. Might try again on a few months but not going until they figure it out
6/5 stars for food & drink - everything was terrific! We went on Thanksgiving with the special Thanksgiving menu and the food was exceptional.
2/5 stars for service - for it being a holiday, there were LOTS of staff members around. However, in the two+ hours we were there, our waiter came by maybe 4 times (initially to take our order and the others to remove plates). We had to ask for a cocktail menu twice and we ordered a side that never came. When we told the server “hey, don’t worry about it” (because we were done with our meal), he seemed to not even realize we never got it. The tables around us received much prompter/attentive service from the same waiter.
I am not normally one to comment on the wait staff because (especially now) everyone is just doing their best but if you have 10+ bus people/runners and only 1 server, maybe you should promote more of your wait staff to servers 🤷🏽♀️
Service was lacking for the price but the food was really good!
Wowzers what an amazing Thanksgiving dinner. Classic Turkey with all the trimmings but executed and presented in the most exquisite format. The white Turkey meat was compressed in the most moist juicy bite with the stuffing wrapped in a wonton. Fresh cranberries with dollops of creamy mashed potatoes engulfed the turkey. Best gravy ever mixed with a cranberry swirl. Did I mention how beautiful it was plated? We made reservations to return for the Xmas eve dinner.
Just amazing. Ribeye was insane
We had a nice time at brunch. The outdoor seating was so wonderful during a 79 degree November day. We loved the crab and shrimp salad as well as the salmon toast. Our server Kelly was very friendly and attentive.
Food was good and server was friendly. Overall a nice restaurant to go to
Great staff and delicious food. In my opinion best high end food in Mission Valley.
The food was extremely slow to come out but luckily we were not in a hurry. The food was just mediocre, except for the beet salad which was fantastic. The setting is beautiful but the children at the pool were noisy. Obviously not the fault of the restaurant.
Thank you so much for review ! I love the duck and beet salad as well. My apologies that the food took a bit to come out to you though that is disappointing, as we try our best to make sure that the pacing of the food is appropriate for each guest that dines with us. We hope to see you again here at ARLO and we will make sure that each course is sent out quickly. Cheers !
Ambience and patio were great. Clean and comfortable eating area. Service was great. Food was unfortunately disappointing. We had to return the cuban pork benedict; the hollandaise tasted too acidic. Cajun chicken was better, but still not very flavorful and lacked spice. Finally, the pastries were very dry and tasted days old. Overall, do not see myself coming back.
Eric, My apologies it appears that we missed the mark here a bit. Thank you so much for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. Chef is always creating fun new dishes and looking for ways to improve the dishes we currently have. We sincerely hope you come back to ARLO and give Chef Josh's amazing food another try.
Made a reservation and it was not busy. We waited 15 minutes to even get greeted or waters after we were sat. Once ordered we were happier but our prime rib came out burnt. It was char and flavorless. Not done well enough for the price at all. Super upset about the results. I did like that they asked for the occasion and they brought out a yummy cake pop for my partners birthday.
Food was great. Service was super slow. Nice ambience
Joey, thank you so much for the kind words! We are so happy that you enjoyed everything and took the time to send us a review. We look forward to seeing you next time here at ARLO. Cheers !!!
Great experience. Highly recommend
The food coming out of the kitchen is really well prepared and presented. Lots of flavor and colors to make the meal appetizing for sight, smell and taste.
However, the front of the house needs to have more attention for the details on patio service in order to elevate and match the food. Plastic dining tables can be hidden with white table clothes for dinner service and plate and silverware should be monitored for cleanliness prior to each course being served.
We were a party of 10 celebrating my father’s 83rd birthday. We ordered other desserts from the menu and they arrived at the table 5 minutes before my father’s was even presented.
Would I go again to try their service again??? Yes, but I would probably dine inside the restaurant and limit my number of guests to 4 to see if their service is better.
Joy, Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review. Chef works so hard to make all of his plates beautiful, we are so happy that you enjoyed them. We are actively and continuously training our staff to provide the best service, and feedback like this is greatly appreciated. I apologize that the desserts took a while to come out to you. I assure you that providing the best service is our top priority and we will continue to improve and make adjustments.
We really enjoyed our dinner. We started with the beet salad with prosciutto which was lovely. I would of liked a little more prosciutto but that might have been bc my husband and I were sharing it. We also enjoyed the lamb meatball which was cooked to perfection mouth watering and I don’t care much for lamb. Finally we had the Brick Oven Bolognese and broccolini. The meat sauce was so very savory in the sauce and great splurge if you don’t normally indulge in pasta.
thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review ! We are so happy you enjoyed your experience here at ARLO, we cant wait to see you again.
Great ambiance, fantastic food and service

a new foodie star in San Diego's sky. can't decide whether the ambience or the food was better...love this place
Judy, Thank you so much! We are so excited you enjoyed everything here at ARLO. We cant wait to see you next time. Cheers!!!
Decided to have brunch after seeing them mentioned on a list of places to go in SD. The atmosphere was nice and it wasn't crowded at all on a Sunday. Server was very friendly. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. For the price, we were expecting much more. We ordered the Cuban Pork Benedict which was very bland. It tasted terrible; like the meat was off or had turned. Cajun Chicken & Biscuit was better but the meat wasn't very tender and biscuits were just ok. The best dish we ordered was the side of Bacon Fritters. They were tasty, but the middle was runny. I couldn't figure out if it was because there was possibly some cheese inside or the batter wasn't fried all the way through. Lastly, the wait for food, the check was very very slow. We waited almost 20 min. for our check and the restaurant had maybe 7-10 tables of guests. Not busy. Overall, I was not quite sure how this brunch made it on a must try list in SD. Would not recommend unfortunately.
The service is consistently excellent. The lamb meatballs appetizers are not to be missed. Worth every calorie.
The wine list is good but the martinis are small. Order a double.
Sunshine, Thank you so much for taking a moment to leave us a review, it is greatly appreciated. I absolutely LOVE our lamb meatballs. Chef Josh creates so many amazing things to try. See you soon here at ARLO.
Date night approved, great way to spend your evening with your significant other. We brought own bottle of wine. However, if you’re any like, and love a good wine! I saw they have a Cabernet Sauvignon by Peju, which is a great wine and on my favorite list.
Ernestina, Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review. We just updated our wine list and it is always growing and changing. Peju is such an amazing producer in Napa Valley. It is definitely one of my go to wines to enjoy. Cheers!
Wonderful dinner with great atmosphere! Outdoor dining at its best on their beautiful, spacious covered patio with heaters & fireplace overlooking pool area & grounds. Mouth watering food from starters & every course was exceptional. The house baked sourdough bread with butter, honey-garlic & smoky sea salt was so good I can’t wait to go back for more!! House cured duck prosciutto & beet salad was wonderful. And the brick oven rigatoni bolognese was masterfully prepared & delicious. Nate our server was so friendly & clearly loved what he does. And we so appreciated that Josh the chef came out to chat with us. Arlo is a wonderful spot & we plan to become regulars. Lucky us we live in San Diego. Local or visiting San Diego - this is a great pick!
Thank you so much for writing this review. We are so lucky to have Nate and Chef Josh here at ARLO. They truly make this restaurant so much fun to come to and enjoy this beautiful place. We are so happy to have some new amazing regulars at ARLO, we cant wait to see you again.
I would definitely come back. Great place for drinks and food. Group of 13 us gals came to celebrate a birthday. Everyone enjoyed their food and drink & service was on point. I personally ordered the Charcuterie de mer (it was a nice change from a meat & cheese charcuterie), Pulpo Passion, Bao Buns dessert & three espresso martinis...my personal bill (includes tax & 18%) came out to about $130. We'll be back!
Superb service, excellent food and drinks! So good
Really nice food and lovely atmosphere. Actually wish we would have sat outside as the patio looked so nice. I enjoyed the food but wasn’t blown away by it. Would come back to sit out on the patio. Not that great of vegetarian options. If you’re pescatarian, lots of choices.
Halibut, ravioli were very good. Vegetarian crepe entree not great. Good atmosphere but a very hard place to find.
Service was excellent, Derek was vey attentive! The food was good but expensive.
Amazing all around! Definitely a place to be in mission valley!
This was my second time there and I liked it the first time better. My husband and I shared the paella which was not very good. We loved the lamb meatballs, the bread and dessert.
Service was so so.
I was very impressed with the food, extremely creative and very tasty. Service was good as well!
Hard to find, gps takes you not to the right place.
It is in a hotel maze, great if you are staying at the town and country Inn. You sit outside looking over hotel and pool with guests and lots of children.
Drink menu and overall menu is good, interesting Choices
Fresh veggies done well and slivers of duck prosciutto is a nice touch. Veal belly was good the smoked polenta outstanding! Made the dish.
Inside dinning room looked not inviting.
Everyone serving was gratuitous.
Over all good experience.
Will I go back? Will see, it is close to home.
All of us were pleasantly surprised by the ambience, the menu, and the quality of the food. Service was not particularly attentive but it was definitely acceptable.
It is unfortunate, do to low staff how it impacted our first experience at the restaurant. Our drinks came out very late (one drink was forgotten.) The Margherita pizza was too greasy and very mediocre tasting and looking. Our dinner food did not all come out at once so we had to wait until it all arrived so we can start eating at the same time. My rib-eye steak was on the cooler side by the time I took my first bite and it was very mediocre tasting. We also orderd a 2nd round of drinks before our food arrived so we can enjoy with our meal. The drinks never came, so after our meal we asked them to cancel the drinks. I was hoping big things and I was very excited for the place but last night was not the night.
On a side note, which completely surprised me the restaurant only carried 1 anejo tequila. I have Never encounter that before at a restaurant. I hope that changes.
On the flip side, the restaurant is really cool. Not sure if I would want to go back and pay premium prices for a mediocre evening.
Tyler was great! The staff got us extra bread when we were leaving.
We had not been to Arlo and were a little hesitant to go to a hotel restaurant but decided to try it out. This is NOT the old Town and Country Hotel! The remodel is beautiful and has the feeling of being in a hip new hotel.
We ate outside and ordered appetizers and salads so we could try a variety of things. We had the lamb meatballs, ahi and avocado salad, beet salad, soup shots and sourdough bread. Everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent and friendly. We'll definitely go again.
Loved drink recommendations from our server. The sour dough bread was worth the cost. We both enjoyed our entrees. Recommend ordering sides as those included with entree are more of a garnish.
Music way too loud, told server who agreed it was too loud. It was like electric guitar solos and vocals, instrumentals loud is fine but it was singing in a very nice restaurant. 45 min wait fir food.
Arlo's food is amazing! Great service and very good wine.
