We (five of us) had a delightful Singapore Asian inspired dinner at Aperi. Three of us have homes in San Miguel. It was one of the best meals that we have had in Mexico. We were lucky enough to meet the guest chefs, Maryann Yong and Mario Malvaez, who came to our table and made recommendations. The food was exquisite and the evening delightful.
Service was pretentious and dismissive. Sorry we went there. Unfortunate as the food was creative and in most cases delicious.
We had a large group of 9 people and we all had the 8 course paired tasting. We sat outside in the courtyard on a perfect January evening and had an amazing experience. Beautifully paired wines with creative and delicious food and fantastic and attentive service! Our tasting leaned more towards white wines, and I still loved it, despite being a bigger fan of red wines. Highly recommended, and I would go again!
We found this to be the best restaurant in San Miguel. Food was outstanding. Drinks were delicious and generous. Service was excellent.
Delicious food. We loved the atmosphere. Just beautiful. But could have had more generous servings.
Service was Ok, we came in and important part of the menu was not available (they claimed off-season availability is low so they run out of some ingredientes very early in the night), however the place was good and food was ok too, not espectacular. Could give it a second opportunity!
We had such high hopes for Aperi. It is a very beautiful restaurant, unfortunately the food does not match up. We thought by not being able to get a reservation until 9, that it had to mean the food was exceptional. The only thing dining at 9 pm gave us was a 50 percent choice of entrees, 2, one a vegetarian option, of 4 and one special. When other diners were leaving they warned us of the problem and were clearly not happy with their options. So the chef does not plan accordingly with upcoming dining reservations to have enough entrees on hand. The waiters while very pleasant were not seasoned enough. I was poured a flat glass of champagne. It was obvious it was flat but he poured it and walked away. I after calling him over it took almost 15 minutes for him to find and open another bottle. Not all of us ordered first courses. The waiters brought out entrees while others were just getting first courses. Half of us were finished eating while the other half of our party were just getting entrees. The food, was, for the price, very overrated. My rack of lamb barely had any meat on it and was super fatty. My husband, said he would never serve it the way it was. The duck confit was dry and not really a true confit. The wheat risotto was lukewarm and the risotto was undercooked. The dishes most liked were the frog leg appetizer, the burrata, Brie cheese and the ravioli. The food was really pretty underwhelming and the service was very disjointed. We do not recommend.
Fine dining prices but the food isn’t that great, we weren’t impressed. There are much better places in SMA
Not what I expected. Food was average. The Wagyu steaks were tough, hard to chew and lacked flavor. Service was not knowledgeable about their dishes and their ingredients and the 3 wines I was interested in were no longer in stock. Not a memorable dinner.
They were out of some of the menu items.
Maybe it was because this meal came after a superb experience at Pujol, or maybe it was an off night, but my family and I found Áperi to not live up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in San Miguel. Our dinner was at 7 pm and they had already run out of two main entrees, plus one of three red wines by the glass. Service, while friendly, just didn’t feel as refined or attentive as it could have been, and the food, while pretty good, was not at the level we were expecting. Perhaps we did it wrong and should have done the tasting menu? Either way, if you go, know that if you’ve had experiences at other top restaurants, you should lower your expectations.
Apparently the chef recently left the restaurant and as a result the food has suffered significantly. My husbands rack of lamb was inedible. It was over 50% fat leaving very little meat. What meat there was was terribly undercooked. In hindsight He should have sent it back.
The restaurant was nearly 75% empty which should have been a sign. Would not recommend
Amazing restaurant in San Miguel de Allende!!
One of the most refined and upscale dining experiences you will find in San Miguel. Excellent menu options and execution on the food was overall pretty solid. Lamb rack was a little on the small side and while I ordered it MR it came out closer to Rare and a bit chewy. Service was very professional. Restaurant space itself is really well done - classy but comfortable at the same time.
Great service and good food in San Miguel.
The service was slow and not friendly
The food was well presented, but not out of the ordinary
The decor and ambiance was dull
The hostess was really nice
We decided to go a la carte instead of the tasting menu because all of the entrees sounded so great. The short ribs and fish were particularly outstanding. Incredible value. Eat here!
Everything about Aperi was excellent. The setting is just gorgeous, the service was impeccable, and the food was great. We were not crazy about the desserts but everything else was excellent. We even tried to reserve the following night but they were all booked up. I will definitely go again the next time I am in SMA.
Nice people, good food
Menu was a bit "out there" for us- too many different ingredients. Service was great but we were seated near a very LOUD table and there was no effort made to move us. Location is lovely and staff were very nice. An interesting place.
Do the chef’s table tasting experience. It’s a more intimate setting and the dishes are a more thoughtful reflection of the chef’s tastes. Highly recommend!
The 5-course tasting menu is wonderful. Highly recommend this place.
We had a fabulous experience at the Chef’s table. Everything was perfect — food, drinks, atmosphere and service. This a must visit destination during a trip to San Miguel.
