Andrea at Velas Vallarta
Food is solid but not amazing, esp for the price. The spicy shrimp was too spicy (and we both love spice and have a high tolerance). Soups were unremarkeable as was the salad bar. Some of the entrees can be excellent such as the tempura octopus. But the fish was overcooked and the steak a bit underseasoned. The musical accompaniment was surprisingly more like a karaoke presentation--can't believe the singer gets paid. All in all--would only go if you are staying at the Velas Vallarta and esp if you have all-inclusive. They do try to vary the dinner theme for variety--the Mexican gourmet was pretty good...esp the shrimp tamales! Service is impeccable with a decent wine selection. Desserts are not worth the calories.
No respetaron la reservación que solo los huéspedes y estaba hospedado
We stayed at a resort over. They were thoroughly confused when we showed up. They didn't realize that we had made a reservation via OpenTable. We were shuttled to a table in the back. The night we went was Asian night so the menu was restricted to asian fare. This is the buffet dining place for the resort. No more - no less. The idea that people are required to be formal - even for PV standards is not true. People were in flip flops, shorts and tank tops. Unless you are staying at that resort, I wouldn't bother going.
We went on Christmas Eve. It was Asian night. The food was expensive and didn’t taste fresh.
We were told they weren’t on Opentable anymore so didn’t have our reservation. However, they were able to accommodate us.
Great service and mediocre food.
Christmas Eve dinner, it was a French-themed menu. Pork chop was yummy and the seafood trio was tasty. Nice staff and service.
Was seated promptly and service was great. Excelent experience.
