The ambiance was stellar, it felt as if we were out of town! It was the perfect place to celebrate my husbands birthday. Chef Padilla came to our table and explained flavors and how tomahawk was cooked and even guided us upstairs to La Perla all while explaining some of the hotels history. From the restaurant itself , to the service by Cesar , the food and drinks - it was a 10/10! We will definitely be back!!!
Great atmosphere, friend and helpful staff, delicious food and drinks
Chef Padilla was amazing , and his food superb! We had a blast and the service outstanding!!
Great restaurant! Will return soon.
Amazing like always love the AmBar 💪🤘💪
The food wasn’t that great, the ambiance is nice
the food is NOT good, it cannot be defined as Mexican Gastronomy, very small portions,
The habanero sauce and the tuetano of everything we ordered was the best, the place is very expensive in relation to what they serve. I definitely don't think I'll visit it again.
Also it was seen that the staff at 9 p.m. wanted for us to leave the place and they didn't even want to serve coffee anymore
Very satisfied with this place and service! It was outstanding!!
Amazing experience! First time there, and Tim was outstanding! Very polite, informative and even gave us a tour of the rooftop! Will definitely recommend to my friends and will be back son!!
My husband and I LOVED this restaurant. According to him, it was one of the best meals he has ever had. The Cream of Hatch Green chili soup was exquisite as was the short rib. The coconut tres leches cake was unsurpassed in our experience. We highly recommend Ambar.
Excellent service and food was delicious highly recommended
Chef Andres Padilla who headed Rick Bayless' Chicago Mexican restaurant, Topolobampo, has returned to the borderlands to open a fine dining eatery in El Paso's newly renovated Plaza Hotel. Chef Padilla graduated from New Mexico State's Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management program and has participated in the program's celebrity chef dinner as a means of fund raising for students in the program.
Before the review, I must comment on the restaurant's handling of my Open Table reservation. No shows are the bane of restaurants and I am scrupulous about notifying the restaurant of any problems with my meeting my reservation time. However, Ambar communicated to Open Table that I was a "no show." Open Table corrected this and credit my account. I also communicated my dismay to the restaurant.
Our reservation was for a time after lunch, but before dinner service and I am somewhat leery of this period, since who is running the show. We tried a salad, Ensalada Otonal, consisting of beets, thinly sliced radishes, green onions, and cheese which was OK, taco (3) tasting platter, Baja fish, too hot, Cauliflower with onions and cheese, and Pastor, with bacon and pineapple which was very good, Coctel Classic, a cerviche which was very tasty, and Eggplant Milanesa, consisting of black beans, Cole slaw and cheese. Some winners and some OK's. A mixed bag, but perhaps attributable to my early concern about service between lunch and dinner. All in all a pleasant addition to the El Paso dining scene, given the dreary bistro-centric dining situation in nearby Las Cruces, NM.
Service was outstanding !!! Food was good ! Great atmosphere !
What a beautiful place!! Expectations high as soon as we walked in for dinner. Staff very attentive and nice. First thing we noticed in menu was various words misspelled, also one vineyard misspelled on wine list. Unless you are wines of Mexico expert, you will not recognize any wine and also no description provided. Waiter was lost in the wine department. Our food came to table all at different times, even after we asked the waiter to bring them with good timing. Food was good. We were celebrating a birthday, waiter said dessert was gonna be on the house. Bill came and it was on it.
We’ll give them a second chance, for a hotel restaurant it is on the pricey side. Still needs some fine tuning.
Food is amazing, however, a little on the expensive side.
The pescado venezolano, the ámbar ceviche, the carnitas tacos, and the flan are ALL TO DIE FOR. Don't sleep on the drinks either!
Overall a 10/10
Just the usual El Paso restaurant
Nice place very delicious food !!! Service excellent!! Love it
The chile verde soup was amazing, chicken tacos were plentiful, hand made tortillas are a must to try. Would have given 5 stars for food but my fish was undercooked. Excellent experience overall.
My boyfriend and I went to celebrate our four year anniversary and we had Andrew as a server. He was AMAZING, so nice, knowledgeable and overall just made our experience very pleasant. He recommended the tequila sour to me and I LOVED it. My boyfriend had a whiskey mule and he loved it as well. We had the guac with crab as an appetizer and WOW, it was so delicious. You could tell it was made to order. We also got the Ámbar ceviche as an app and it was SO fresh, I would have ordered 10 if I could haha. My favorite dish of the night was definitely the duck and mole. Absolutely amazing, the duck was a perfect medium, and the mole was truly out of this world. My boyfriend and I joked that we would rate this place a high 9.5 because there’s always room for growth, but we had to go 10/10 because we couldn’t think of one thing we would have changed. Bravo! Definitely on our VIP restaurant list. Thank you for a wonderful night!!
Lovely setting, good food, need more wines by the glass.
It had been a while since my partner and I experienced such unique flavors in El Paso. It was a magnificent combination between familiarity and novelty. We had the best mole and enchiladas in town.
We had a wonderful meal, craft cocktails and wine.
Love coming here for a late dinner and drinks with my friends; Ámbar is cool and swanky and a great place to hang out.
The food was delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable and courteous. It's a bit pricey but well worth the experience. I wish I could dine here more often but I wouldn't be able to afford it. Great for special occasions.
I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion! The ambiance is fantastic, the food is out of this world, and the service is incredible! This is my go-to restaurant to impress out-of-town guests.
Very limited wine list
Cocktails not cold enough
Tuetanos served without tortillas
Entree options limited
There are other options for the same price
As yes or no answer for recommendation I say no
Wonderful ambiance, nice open kitchen. Beautiful bar area. Food was "gourmet"Mexican.
Servings were small. Nice "tastes". Cauliflower mole taco was delicious! Salads and soups were great! Only complaint, is that it was a bit pricey for El Paso. No way you justify $228 for a Tomahawk Ribeye!
Birthday celebration with family. Truly enjoy the Chef his time to tell about some dishes. Enjoy bone marrow and Duck mole.
We were very disappointed with the lack of wine and liquor selection. It was my husbands
We were a party of four with a strong experienced culinary background. We are dissatisfied with the price portion value and very dissatisfied with the service. Our waitress disappeared during the last half of our visit. Cocktails were excellent, good menu descriptions yet presentation and portion didn't measure up. Front of the house needs more experience with service to match prices and expectations.
Try the duck mole, incredible atmosphere, the menu was diverse and varied, staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Love the smell of the wood fire.
5/5 on everything
No llegaron a tiempo nuestros aperitivos , pero no los cobraron 🙏🏻y nos regalaron postre 😋🍰
Beautiful restaurant that I would like to see succeed but they need to step it up and train the food servers. The Caesar salad was salty and the Veracruz dish just had no flavor. We ordered dessert and were given soup spoons. We had to ask for dessert spoons or forks. The answer was, we don’t have dessert spoons but have small coffee spoons. We got our bill before finishing our meal. Had intentions to order more drinks but since the bill was on the table decided to pay and leave. I’m planning to go back hoping that the food and service will improve.
Wonderful place! Great atmosphere and everyone was very attentive always! Highly recommend to anyone!
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and we absolutely loved it. Great server, great food, great place, great service. We made a reservation beforehand and it didn't even take 1 minute for us to get a table. Highly recommend, food is a bit on the pricier side but it is worth every cent. If you want to try Mexican food with a twist of modern, this is your place.
Wonderful experience! Delicious Food ! Will be back !
Ambar is a amazing restaurant I highly recommend it and have told all my friends and family about it!
This place is very beautiful, service was good, but the food was not too good
it was my second time and the first for those with me, we all had a good time and enjoyed our meals
