Beatrice was great and we loved all our food!
Wonderful place to dine, it was my first time trying Allegro. The food was amazing, we had a large party of 7 ordered the food family style. We had the oysters, burrata, fresh salad, the gnocchi, and the ravioli, and the pasta carbonara. Everything tasted delicious.
For an Italian restaurant, the pasta dishes were mostly disappointing, the appetizers were good, as well as the wine selection. Unfortunately not blown away.
Had a great time. Staff was very nice! Will come back.
Had high hopes for Allegro. The whole dinner felt rushed. One pasta dish wasn’t cooked long enough and some pieces were hard and stuck together. Our brussel sprout side dish was cold and the vegetables hard. I wanted it to be great and it has potential to be.
The food is good but not great. Service and drinks were very good.
Great food and atmosphere. Not the best service though
Beautiful restaurant and great food! I would make reservations ahead of time to sit under the lemons.
Trendy decor, great service, good music, and delicious food. We had a fantastic date. Thank you so much!
Food quality is it worth it, food was soso, salad did not have dressing on p, and go on and on
Our waitress Beatrice was super friendly and helpful! The bucatini carbonara dish I had was amaaaaazing! I seriously can't wait to go back and get it again.
It must’ve been a bad night to eat here at Alegro. We were greeted by the host who wasn’t the friendliest employee, looked at my husband as I like we were bothering her? Then as we sat down at our table, you could tell right away that our sever was overwhelmed in his role. We have him the benefit of the doubt seeing as how I used to work in the serving industry for 10+ years. Unfortunately he was rude and very impatient with my husband as my husband was looking over the menu to order a bottle of champagne. It was by far the worst experience, we never received our champagne and felt un acknowledged. We attempted multiple times to flag him, (our server), down but he kept passing us up even though he clearly saw both my husband and I try to have him take our food order. It was so bad that the kind bidder came by and apologized to us for his behavior. I will be contacting the GM to make him aware of this horrible experience. What was supposed to be a wonderful date night turned out to be a night we wish would’ve never happened. It’s unfortunate due to Alegro being one of our favorite restaurants to go to prior to this experience.
Best meal and dining experience in a while! Good food, great service, and great ambiance! Loved it!!
Every time I come here the experience is outstanding!! Everyone was so nice and helpful, we went to celebrate my moms birthday and I came with my newborn and the staff was so thoughtful to accommodate us in a nice spot where I could fit the stroller.
The food is DELICIOUS and the service was fast without feeling rushed, we are going to keep coming back
This is my third time there and it did not disappoint! Ambience is great, food is exceptional and service good. Sam was very entertaining and attentive, though it was very busy and he had alot to attend to. A large party beside us made the noise level extreme.
Food was expensive but came out cold and did not taste good in comparison to other restaurants in Little Italy. Service was very slow and would not go again.
It was good
Incredible dishes, amazing service, and a gorgeous restaurant style. You can’t go wrong.
Delicious entries, drinks, dinner , definitely coming back for the burrata the fig pasta and the salmon
Was worried about the service based in past reviews, was a non issue. Service was great, timely and helpful. Food came out hot and was delicious. We’ll be back.
Food was not outstanding, We were expecting more.
Service was outstanding.
Homemade delicate pasta was heavenly. Recommend getting the Gnocchi. The ambiance was romantic especially under the lemons.
Fun vibe in the bar area while we waited for our table. Meal was enjoyable with great service. I will recommend to friends.
Amazing food and beautiful atmosphere
The food is good, albeit a little pricey compared to similar restaurants nearby. The ambiance and service unfortunately depend entirely on where you sit. The main parts of the restaurant have a very cool vibe, but if they seat you on the side street section outside, you lose that vibe entirely. It feels like you’re tucked away in a dark corner with slightly worse service and everything that makes the restaurant cool (the interiors, lighting, energy, decor) is completely absent there. I almost would recommend they get rid of this section entirely because it doesn’t match the vibe of the rest of the restaurant at all.
Waitress (Beatrice) was lovely.
Bus staff never refilled water. Did not get requested plates for apps or fresh milled pepper for salad and pasta.
Octopus, calamari apps were very delicious. Caesar salad was good but would have benefited by the fresh pepper and homemade croutons would elevate.
Cappuccino was not cappuccino. Not sure they know how to make one.
Two before dinner drinks; a Tom Collins & an Amaretto Sour were underwhelming. Sour needed more Amaretto.
Would return when back in San Diego.
We had a great special dinner out here and the food and ambiance were wonderful
Outstanding experience. Both Nick and Daniel were fantastic and took great care of our group! Highly recommend the Fig Ravioli!!
Overall the experience, service and food was poor. Too many tables for the amount of staff, they were over run. Every table around mine had some sort of complain.
We made a reservation on OpenTable and they sat us outside (we asked for inside) and we told the hostess that it smelled like cigarette smoke. She agreed with us and moved us inside to the bar area where it was a small circular table meant for drinks and not food. We ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board. The wine arrived about 15 minutes after and then the charcuterie board around 10 min after that. at this point we had no napkins, no plates, and no silverware. we had to wait and track down a waiter to get utensils and plates. The charcuterie board was 2 small pieces of cheese, salami, and mortadella. For $25 that seems like a pretty high price for a board with half arugula. We were there for about another half an hour and didn’t see our waiter to order food. we ended up leaving after 45 minutes and went to eat somewhere else. When we wanted to leave, it took them about 20 min to pick up the check so we ended up paying in cash to just get out.
Allegro has amazing fresh pasta and a great drink selection. Always not too loud and a great place for an intimate dinner. Try the chef’s special cheese wheel they serve on weekdays with the mushroom parmigiano pasta.
What an incredible date night! Maria, our server, was an absolute delight! The food was just outstanding and the ambiance was perfection! We sat outside along the potted plants which was the perfect touch to separate the sidewalk and corner from your dining experience. We can't wait to come back! Actually going to book another reservation right now......
Hostess was extremely rude and kept seating other people before my party of 2, even though we had a reservation. My reservation was for 8pm we didn’t get seated until almost 9pm. Food was really good, and service from everyone else was amazing.
Our dishes were missing potatoes and when we told them they never brought us out potatoes. Our server forgot to give us our sides. Other tables received bread and we were never given any. Our server comped us with drinks for forgetting our sides. They were definetly understaffed so I understand, but too expensive for mediocre food and service.
Waiter forgot to bring out appetizers so we had to wait until after the entree to eat.
Honestly save your money- not really worth the hype. Going for dinner and drinks in little Italy, you kind of know what to expect and our group was excited to try allegro. Made a reservation for outside at 8pm and showed up on time- still was asked to wait but the bar was full so we stood outside for 20 minutes ended up inside at the worst table in the house. Service was 0/10 - waiter was sweet but we quite literally waited another 25 min for water.
After ordering martinis and a meat and cheese board we got basically wilted arugula and two slices of pepperoni. My partner ordered the steak and it was essentially inedible- so fatty and just a terrible cut and cook overall. I understand they were peak busy at 8:30 on a Friday but we had a horrible experience and for a $250+ dollar tab- take it somewhere else. 0/10 would not recommend unfortunately.
We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday. Our server Patrick was phenomenal! We will definitely be back.
Two of the 3 meals were average at best, the 3rd, duck pappardelle Raghu, had bones/bone fragments that could have caused serious harm. Manager came over and said yes, it was shredded duck and perhaps bones were to be expected? 4 of them? They removed the charge and brought cake but moment ruined. Our server was very nice but given all the other options, will not recommend or return.
