Ada's is a beautiful restaurant on the water. The service was pleasant and wine list was very good. Everything we ordered was good, few things could have been better. Bone marrow app didn't have much marrow but was topped with shredded meat which was odd. Brussel sprouts appeared to have been overcooked and had too much spicy mayo like sauce on top. Scallops were cooked perfectly and was delicious, but the plating felt super busy with chick pea & other topping which was puzzling. My favorite thing was the whole oyster mushroom side. The season was amazing, but it had a smoked by gas grill like taste that was a bit off-putting. The restaurant was busy and crowded so the noise level was a bit high. I had marked in our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary but that was not recognized.
We went for a birthday dinner. The food was terrific -- the brussels sprouts alone would bring us back, as would the grilled octopus; we also had the scallops and charred cauliflower. The creme brulee was good but perhaps not as outstanding as the other dishes. The setting is very pleasant -- but it was a relatively cool evening and all the tables are in the shade, which made it a bit less pleasant than it would otherwise have been. The service was good, but perhaps a bit too attentive -- we would have been happier with just half the check-ins to make sure everything was ok. I was also just a bit disappointed that there was no acknowledgment that it was a birthday dinner, which we'd noted when we made the reservation -- I think we've been spoiled in that regard by Fiola Mare. But all in all, it was a great dinner and we'll definitely go back.
The lunch was delicious, service attentive, and the view spectacular.
Nice new spot along Alexandria’s waterfront. They are known for the wood fire items. I had the wood fire grill shrimp salad and it was delicious
I wanted to love Ada’s, as our server was wonderful and the space is really pretty. But it was too loud to have a reasonable conversation (though they did -twice!- turn down the volume on the music) and the last thing we wanted to do as we ease back into in person dining is shout at each other. My shrimp salad starter was expensive and disappointing - shrimp were undercooked, the lettuce was soggy and overdressed, and the avocado was brown. My tri-tip steak was delicious, but the “twice baked” potato side was a normal baked potato with some toppings, and the broccolini was so smoky, I couldn’t taste anything else. My dining companions felt similarly about the cauliflower - lots of potential, but it was really smoky. A few highlights, though - delicious cocktails and very yummy chocolate desserts (highly recommend the soufflé). I heard the crab cake, mussels, and pork chop were really good, though I didn’t sample myself. I’ll be back - the ambiance by the water is so pretty, will be eager to try again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us Emma. It means a lot to us that our server was able to make your evening enjoyable, but we would like to apologize for our dishes not being stellar. At Ada's we focus greatly on making sure our guests leave wow-ed but this time it was not the case. We hope you join us again so we can turn your experience into a positive one.
After reading Tom Sietsema's review of Ada's, we decided to eat here for our 25th anniversary with our children. We highly recommend it! It was a little chilly to eat outside but once it warms up, the patio would be a great place to have dinner. We had the crab cake, tri-tip, king salmon and the scallops (and the souffle and lemon tart for dessert) and everything was wonderful. The only criticism we had was that the brussels sprouts were super salty, but everything else was excellent. We'll be back.
Another awesome meal at Ada's! Loved everything we ordered!
The setting is lovely and the food and service are equal to the views of the river. My new go to place for lunch with friends! The chopped salad with smoked chicken, crab cake salad and the Brussels sprouts all stand out.
I took my mom and family for Mother’s Day dinner and it did not disappoint. Amazing location in the river and great table with a view to start. Really enjoyed the octopus appetizer and the mushroom side is a must. Also really enjoyed the soufflé and the lemon tart. The grill flavor is delicious in the meats - smoky, juicy and grilled to perfection! Will definitely return!
We ate lunch outside which has a nice view of the potomac River. I had the shrimp and avocado salad and my sister had the burger. The food was very good as was the service
Popular new restaurant, noisy and crowded. Fois gras donut is decadent and delicious. Veal chop prepared with precision. Mushroom lasagna too salty. Entrees are simple and lack sides which must be ordered separately and are small portions. Desserts are lush and are gilding the lily but worth getting! All in all a very enjoyable evening.
Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant Paul. We're glad you were able to enjoy our dishes and had a pleasant evening with us. We hope to see you again soon.
Great place servuce was wonderful...food ok...great location
Thank you for your review. We're glad that you enjoyed the service while dining with us.
The location overrlooking the Potomac River was outstanding. We had the shrimp and grilled avacado salad and bone marrow both of which were great. The mushroom side that we got with the steak was a bit too salty but the crab mac and creamed spinach were very good.
Thank you for sharing your review with us. It's a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed our dishes.
Food portions unexpectedly small
Thank you for your comments. We apologize for the potions not being to your liking and have given your feedback to management.
Brunch was really delicious and the riverside ambience was relaxing and pleasant!
We had a great time; service was great, food was delicious and it was a great spot.
We had maybe overly high expectations. Even though made the reservation 7 weeks ago, we were shuttled off to a back room in the restaurant with 3-4 other tables in it. The food was excellent. The noise level was so loud it was difficult to hear anything, including my dinner partner 2 feet away.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We want to apologize for the noise level of the restaurant but are glad to hear you enjoyed our dishes.
Cocktails were not made well and the music was too loud for good conversation at the table without raising our voices. Food was ok but a balance needs to be found between the strong char taste of the wood fire and the natural taste of the food. Servers were exceptional!
Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We want to apologize for the level of music and the food not being excellent, as it's what we strive for on a daily basis.
The food was delicious and the service was exceptional! Can't wait to come back.
Weather permitting, sit outside and don't forget to order the fois gras donut either as an appetizer or, as some prefer, dessert. This new riverside restaurant jumps to the top of the list of Alexandria's must-visit eateries, offering steak-house quality beef and inventive, delicious cuisine.
Suerte!!
Stylish new restaurant on the Old Town Alexandria riverfront specializing in wood grilled meat. My hamburger was superb. Rich juicy, perfectly cooked, with a tasty smoky flavor from the grill. The only minor quibbles were that the French Fries were limp, cool, and unremarkable and that the char grilled lettuce salad while properly grilled was waterlogged with dressing. Service was welcoming and attentive.
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant Jam. It's a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed your hamburger as well as the service. We do apologize for the salad not being excellent and have passed on your comments to our chefs.
Best salmon i've ever had around the area..in fact everything is amazing! Second time there and will go back again
The food was fabulous! First of all, we were seated in a smaller booth and didn't like the table because we were celebrating our anniversary and the table was small and didn't have a view. Without even being asked, one of the managers (Deja) came over to our table and offered to move us. So kind! And then they brought us a complimentary glass of Lemarca prosecco to toast our anniversary. We loved our new table and had an amazing dinner. We started with the grilled octopus and the seared tuna (both excellent) and then had the scallops and the swordfish for our entrees...the creme brulee was perfect for dessert. Overall it was a wonderful evening and I would go back there in a heartbeat!
This was our fourth time eating at Ada’s, the food was delish as always however the service was very friendly and helpful but definitely on the slow side. We just ordered wine (no time consuming cocktails), entrees w sides and then one dessert that took at least 20 min. So we still had a lovely time and will definitely return but the service was disappointing
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant. We're glad to hear that this is your fourth time dining with us! We do apologize for the service not being quicker like your other visits.
Hard to make a salad not taste like every other salad you've had, but Ada's made that happen. Plus, they gave me a beverage to go, which was unexpected and welcome.
Great service from Leo.
Thank you for your review, we're very glad you enjoyed the service.
Beautiful dining experience on the water. The food was delicious! Cat was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations! I will be back!
Disappointing meal. The broccolini and steak salad tasted like lighter fluid was poured over it. Very off putting.and the salad lacked any anchovy or Parmesan cheese as listed on the menu., or at least I couldn’t taste it. The steak was tender , but bland.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us Frank. As you know this gives us an insight into aspects of our restaurant we should be focusing more on. Having said that we want to apologize for the flavor of the dishes. This is not how your meal should have been, and we hope you join us again so we can turn your experience into a positive one.
Excellent food and ambience and a great addition to Alexandria's otherwise mediocre waterfront dining options. Friendly staff.
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant Don. We want to thank you for enjoying our dishes as well as the service.
Food was good, the best items was the hamburger: although it was not at the requested temperature- medium well/well done instead of medium rare- it was delicious. The omelette was perfect. In the eggs Benedict, the sauce was a bit watery (probably from the poached eggs, that were instead remarkable). Very good meal.
Thank you for joining us for brunch Charles. We're glad to hear that you overall enjoyed our dishes. Hope to see you again soon.
My friend and I were lucky enough to get the last table available for brunch yesterday. Beautiful place, fabulous service. Very happy to see Ada’s off to such a great start. High compliments on my Bloody Mary, one of three versions they offer and a nice size! My friend said her eggs seemed a little undercooked, but she enjoyed her steak and eggs just the same. Her tri-tips were delicious. I had a charred romaine salad with grilled chicken and really liked it. That grilled lettuce has such a good taste. We were very excited to dine here and will be back again soon for a round of dinner. Definitely worth it, if you can get in! Make reservations way ahead of time and mark it on your calendar.
Thank you for joining us for brunch. It's wonderful to hear that you and your friend both enjoyed the dishes you ordered.
Service was nice, but very slow.
Thank you for your feedback Judy. We're glad that our waiters were nice but do apologize for the speed of the service.
We LOVED our experience dining at Adas for Brunch. The wedge salad was truly the best salad I’ve ever had, which isn’t necessarily super exciting, but 10/10 would recommend. Additionally the cinnamon rolls in the bread basket were best of their kind. Entrees, excellent, pricey but what you would expect on the waterfront in old town. Service was quick and attentive and decor is beautiful. We will be back.
Food was wonderful, some came out cold.
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant. Although we're glad you enjoyed our dishes, we want to apologize for some of them not being the proper temperature.
I hate to write this since I know it will make it harder to get future reservations but this is a restaurant not to be missed. It is the best restaurant in all of Alexandria. The food, wait staff and ambiance are top notch. Not all of the tables have a great view but everything makes up for that in spades! This is a special place. I hope they open Adas 2 very soon!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Ada’s. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with lots of light and lovely views. While the food was very good, it is also rather pricey. Our server was very good, gladly answered any questions and was very attentive.
Thank you for reviewing our restaurant. It's great that you enjoyed your dining experience with us.
I enjoyed my pre-meal Condopolitan cocktail which was the recommendation of my server’s trainer and was also spot. We opted to sit indoors because it was a very windy day. No matter, the inside is just as beautiful as outdoors, great ambiance. Everyone was doing there best to follow Covid safety protocols, while we start emerging form our cocoons, and that was very reassuring. We were there on a Friday, for lunch with a 11:45PM reservation and managed to grab paid curbside parking. It cost us $3 for 1.5 hours. The max length of curbside parking in this area is 2 hours. There are nearby parking garages also.
I would order the same things again if I didn’t want to taste test other menu items. For some reason I expected the tri-tip sandwich to have some gristle and/or bones; not so. My sandwich was 100% meat, a very pleasant surprise. My glass of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile set that off. I even enjoyed the accompanying FF’s and aioli sauce and I’m not a FF person usually. We thought the Crab Mac and Cheese wouldn’t be enough for my sidekick but it was. She had an order of Brussel Sprouts to fill the void but it was unnecessary. Therefore, she brought some of the Crab Mac and Cheese and Brussel Sprouts home.
The restroom was immaculate, with modern fixtures and well lit. Someone in managements pays attention to details and it shows.
The topper for us was the Lemon Tart. If you are a lemon dessert lover, like we are, do yourself a favor and order the Lemon Tart. Yum! Yum Yum. You’ll leave with a smile on you face.
Thank you for the excellent food and wine. We all had an amazing time. Pat was great!
While the menu is inventive and the plating artistic, you simply can't beat the Potomac River view from the large windows inside, or better yet, the lovely deck seating outside.
Thank you for your review of Ada's Joe. It's a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the taste and presentation of our dishes as well as the spectacular views.
