Punta Bonita - Rosewood Mayakoba

Tastes differ, however I find the place overpretencious. The food taste is quite peculiar, service is good though

We did not expect to be at a resort and it seemed like the resort did not expect us(even tho we made reservations through open table).
The direction led us everywhere but to the Rosewood Mayakoba resort... we drove around and around. Finally figured it out.
The food was good and Uber expensive... the service was sweet. They made us feel comfortable.
I probably would not recommend this place unless you were already staying at this resort.

The chef is OUTSTANDING!! The food and atmosphere and service are top notch. This is quite possibly our favorite restaurant on the planet !!

Perfection in everyway

We were very excited to eat at this restaurant based on what we had read about on-line and the menu located on the Hotel’s website. The ride to the restaurant was great and beautiful. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful as it’s on the beachside. However, that is about it! The service was HORRIBLE! Our server didn’t know the menu (which was actually new and not the one on the website). We had to ask him for water, more wine, to clear our plates, to bring fresh plates etc. The food was also not good. We ordered mole. The mole that I eat at the Mexican restaurant back home is ten times better than what I ate at Punta Bonita. The chicken was actually brought to be on a side plate with no mole sauce on it. The mole sauce with a very dry tamale was brought on another plate and the idea was that you had to combine the chicken with the plate that hade the mole. But, there was very little mole sauce. Also, why we were there the lights surrounding and lighting the restaurant kept flickering on and off. We had to eat in the dark for part of our meal. And nobody came by to even apologize (obviously the waiter didn’t because was clueless from the beginning). Certainly not the experience one would expect from this property. We had eaten at the Sushi restaurant at Rosewood the night before and it was great but this restaurant was simply not good and over $200 later we were very unhappy!

We loved this restaurant! We ordered 2 appetizers (loved them!) and shared an entree. It was perfect. We actually tried to return for a second time, but the restaurant was closed on the day we wanted to go back. Service was excellent.

The best experience is on a Thursday night for Mexican bistro night.

Miguel is a wonderful server. We had an amazing time. Grilled lobster and the lamb shank were favorites. Mexican cobbler is unreal.

My family and I were in awe of the views from this restaurant. It was spectacular! It made our last dinner of our Mexico trip a very memorable one!! We couldn’t have made a better choice. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go!! You will LOVE it!!

Awesome Mexican night out on the beach. Make sure you call and figure which night this is each week. It’s worth it.

Mexican flavors abound at this Rosewood Resort restaurant. It is an all day affair here at the restaurant by the beach and pool. Dinner is not peak business but worth the trip over from the Fairmont Mayakoba for casual change of pace. The Rosewood Resort is impressive as are all the hotels we have visited to date in Mayakoba.

Great service and food! This is our second trip to Mayakoba and love to have lunch here.

Food was generally well prepared and tasty, but extremely poor value- a lunch for 3 adults cost $240 for tacos and ceviche and wasn't much better than the other restaurants in the complex or in town

It is almost impossible to beat the view - the ocean directly in front of you! But the food and service matched the view completely. Our server was amazing and gave great recommendations. The food was outstanding. We also had lunch here one day and the service and food was just as great.

No options and not very good. Fish was average and tasted fishy.

Service and food out of the ordinary. Signature cocktails creative & good. The tuna tostadas were fantastic; light and tasty. The ribeye tacos very flavorful yet not too heavy. Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Well worth it.

Great location and excellent food.

Great food very expensive but good, margaritas should never cost 21.00 however! The fish tacos were fresh and everything was very tasty, the ocean view is the reason to go!

Punta Bonita served very good food with attentive service. We were turned off by the extraordinary cost of cocktails: our meals here were more expensive than dinners at the resort's flagship restaurant in part because the cocktail specials were drastically more expensive than drinks listed on the menu. The ambiance could be extraordinary depending on the time and day: this restaurant is popular with families staying at the resort, and so during one meal we had loud, whiny children near us. We were puzzled that the staff seated couples right next to families with small children and large groups when there was so much room available in the restaurant.

Beautiful tranquil venue, right on the ocean. Best food I've had in the Mayakoba resorts so far (although haven't tried anything in Banyan, we have tried all of the Fairmont restaurants). Fish was fresh. The bread they brought out was dangerously good. Dishes from all over Mexico. And great drinks which while more expensive that the Fairmont were more plentiful and left you satisfied after just one. Service was perfect. A must try.

I though the very expensive drinks were not very good. Guacamole was terrible... I would avoid it. Main meal was fair. I was really surprised since the setting is really awesome. Service seemed just fine. It was really the drinks and the food that were the let down. And it was much more expensive than you would have thought for what you received.
