Mon Ami is our family and friend “go-to” restaurant and the meal and service never fails our expectations. Would recommend to anyone.
One of our all time favorite restaurants. We are never disappointed!
The service and food was very good.
Several times have brought professional colleagues. Always a great meal.
Everything was great! Had a wonderful time
Great ribeye steak, sauce, and salmon tartare. After dinner, stretch your legs by walking in Reston. Great if you are dressed up and want a nice meal without breaking the bank.
It's been a few months since we've gone to any Mon Ami Gabi. The food was amazing but we noticed the portion sizes were much smaller. The food was great, regardless. The service was good, not as great as it normally is, but we went during a busy Friday night. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
Expensive and not great quality. Very limited menu. I had Gabi’s Fish and Frites which was awful. Fries were cold and soggy! Bread was the best part!
We always feel so welcome here. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable and ready to help if there is anything specific you need. The food is prepared expertly and always quite tasty. This is one of our favorite spots. My husband particularly appreciates the wonderful wines that pair so nicely with his meals.
The food wasn’t as good as usual. The pate was a bit bland; the oysters were tasteless. But the steak and the salmon tartare were superb.
Salad included interesting vegetables beyond the norm which made the salad very good. Deserts were unique also.
Service and ambiance were very good. However, we had ordered filets and both were lacking. Mine was way underdone and I had to send it back. My wife's was not melt in your mouth like it was the last time we were here. Attentive staff took care of me efficiently and apologized. My wife ate hers but did not let her disappointment be known until later. It was a pleasant evening, but we'll have to wait awhile before returning. The excellent service was what salvaged the rating, otherwise it would have been an overall 2.
We were excited about the daily special, beef Wellington, but even though we had an early dinner reservation, they ran out after only 10 orders. So then we ordered other steaks off the menu and all the sides came out cold, and the steaks were not cooked to the temperature anyone ordered. It all had to be redone.
Overall a great experience. I think the waiter and the menu could either or both do a better job of explaining what is on the menu. Specials were not on the menu -- but often could be printed to be easier to review. Drinks were okay, but not 5 star -- perhaps 3. Overall a good experience and I'd go again, but my feeling was that it was 1 star below Morton's or DC Prime which I'd recommend above Mon Ami Gabi.
Love the steak frites
Excellent service from start to finish. We were placed in a cozy, quiet corner booth which was very nice. The server Billy was attentive, knowledgable, and polite. The duck confit, cocktails/wine, and bone in Ribeye were all fantastic. We will definitely be dining at the Reston location again soon!
Been a while since I've been to Mon Ami. Thought the food was good this time around, but honestly, a little disappointed. The $21 salmon and kale salad was a few leaves of lettuce, a couple of pecans and a small piece of fish. Not worth the price.
The food was delicious but, when you sit outside, the service isn’t as good as inside it appeared. Will definitely come back but, won’t sit outside again.
Busy Wednesday night dinner and it was crowded. Not as attentive service as times before perhaps because it was so busy. They ran out of my entree and the delay in telling me meant my companions got their food before me. Food was excellent though. Disappointing that you could not get happy hour specials at your table only in the bar. They used to have a bar cart come to your table as well and that didn't happen either. Will go again and hope the service is different.
Ask for Doug...the best waiter in Reston. The restaurant is always friendly and professional...couldn't ask for more.
Brunch with an old friend. Waiter was very accommodating and patient with our gabbing. Excellent salad with real anchovies on request and salmon eggs Benedict. Yum
Too much noise service was good no special occasion just Sunday brunch
We've been there numerous times and enjoy our meals.
Steve our waiter and the host and waitstaff were all very attentive, professional, and responsive. Unfortunately this time, the kitchen was a bit off - the rice pilaf was "crunchy" - ie undercooked, and the mussels were seriously oversalted.
I was really sorry to have to point it out to Steve, who immediately offered to serve something else (I had worked around the pilaf and so didn't need another entree and declined) - and both Steve and the host stopped by to apologize and compensate for the lapse in food quality.
The errors were things that the kitchen should not have missed - I have alot of sympathy for the waitstaff in situations like that. Steve and the host both told us that they had reported the issues back to the kitchen - and they did everything in their power to help make it right.
We will return... hopefully the kitchen mess up was a one time situation.
This location has gone down hill significantly. They didn’t know how to prepare Trout Almondine, a former favorite. They cut almonds in half and put them next to the sautéed trout.
The waiter told us the fish special was a Wild Caught, Hybrid Chilean Sea Bass. Hybrid & Wild Caught?
He couldn’t tell us anymore about it.
Wonderful food and great service! The craft cocktails where wonderful and the food was great!
Good restaurant in Reston. Service and food very good.
Perfect place for dining out personally or for business. Great food and excellent service!
Food was great. A little pricey for the meals though.
Business meal. Got hanger steaks, always great here. Nice Bordeaux to wash it down. Also shared frisee salid - split it - when you do this they give each person an egg. Nice touch.
I hadn't been to Mon Ami Gabi in a while and remember having a great first couple of experiences. I'm not sure what has happened since I've been there, but the overall quality and taste of the food has not lived up to my memories and standards. I ordered the french onion soup, chicken pate, and Gabi's fish and frites. The only item I truly enjoyed was the soup. The chicken pate was fairly tasteless and the fish was very oily. It had a breaded/crusted topping that was more soggy than crispy. I'm hoping this was a one off experience because I enjoyed going here in the past.
One of our choice restaurants in the area. Good ambiance, good food, good service, fair value.
We were looking for quiet intimate dinner and we got that and more! Food and service was excellent. Wine list quiet extensive and we really enjoyed the French ambiance and quiet music. Lovely relaxing time. Plus waiter gave us complimentary dessert as first time quests. Great attention to detail
Our Waiter , and the staff were superb ! The food , cocktails , and wine were equally superb ! Have not been to Mon Ami Gabi in a while. I will go back again soon !
Excellent food, great service, extensive wine selection. The outdoor patio is wonderful in the summer with fans adding to the slight breeze. We both had the steak with hand cut fries. A taste of France in Reston. Wonderful server added to the ambiance. Very accommodating and highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back
Love the escargots (sand and all) and frites. Perfect outdoor seating
Nothing special. Good, but not outstanding quality of food. Service was OK.
Loved the food and the service! The wine list is great as well. The only complaint I have is the noise level is very high. I had a difficult time hearing my date, but no problem hearing the couple at the table next to me.
There was nothing French about this place, a truly disappointing experience. The food was served lukewarm and the presentation was comparable to a roadside taco joint. The server was uninformed and inattentive - it seemed he had been brought over from IHOP that morning. I have been to this place before, they seem to be striving for quantity rather than quality.
Avoid this restaurant at all costs, especially if one is going there for a special occasion. My wife and I checked in for our reservation 15 minutes early and the rude, unfriendly host did not bother to one acknowledge our reservation by looking it up on his computer and two made us feel as if we were dogsh*t scrapped off of his shoe. He first informed us that we were too early for dinner (dinner started at 4 pm and we arrived at 3:45 pm), we then stated that we will return if this would make it easier. He stated that no we did not have to leave, but kept asking us if we wanted to sit outside and each time we told him that we preferred an indoor table. The restaurant was virtually empty having only 2 other groups in the dining area while the bar area was doing good business. Once seated, he stated again we were too early for dinner, by the time we actually got to order it was 3 minutes after 4 so we were able to order dinner without having concerns that the dinner items were not available. We were provided with bread that was so stale it crumbled instead of tearing when separated with our hands (no knife or cutting surface provided to cut the bread). The server did the absolute minimum service possible, refilled our water once each and never bothered to check to see how our dinners were. We received an email from OpenTable asking us why we were no shows; I responded we were there, the restaurant failed to even bother to verify our reservations. We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and this went from an expected nice dinner to one that will always be remembered as one of the worst starting with the conflict with the host, to whom we were very cordial and respectful, the host, as stated earlier, treated us like crap. My wife wanted to leave, but I was hoping that maybe the restaurant would redeem itself in its service, it failed miserably. The food was very good, but the rest of the restaurant left much to be desired. Avoid at all costs!!
Had not been here in a while, food was good but not as good as I remember. Patio seating was nice but did took a really long time - they did give us a complimentary appetizer to make up for it.
