The manager waived the corkage fee for a special bottle of wine we brought with us — a very gracious gesture.
Great meal! The Kung Pao cauliflower was amazing.
I made a reservation for brunch for 2, we arrived a few minutes early and our table (we could pick one) was ready. The host who welcomed us was the least pleasant of the staff and didn't make me feel welcome at all - didn't make eyecontact when talking to us, hardly said hello but was fumbling with papers looking away as he was talking to us. The waiting staff was friendly and made us feel welcome fortunately. I think it's an awful shame that the first impression as you walk in is so negative, because the food was outstanding which is a reason for me to come back. We had deviled eggs, pumpkin bisque with lobster dumplings, mussels and eggs benedict. I asked the waitress to compliment the chef as I have never eaten a soup more tasty! The eggs were beautifully poached, the yolk looked almost caramelized and it was heaven on earth! I will definitely be back.
We loved our experience at Lyon Hall! The restaurant had a hip, fun vibe. The food and drink selection was incredible! We will definitely be back.
It was a fantastic dinner. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, but not hovering, all dishes came out quickly, but not rushed. The food was delicious! Can’t wait to go back again soon!
Absolutely delicious- fantastic menu and every item we ordered lived up to our hopes
Overall it was great. The food was tremendous. Dessert was wonderful. One problem was I got the seat right next to the front door and it was about 20 degrees outside. Couldn't even take my jacket off.
Delicious food. Service was excellent even though the place was packed. Had a mix of high top and regular seating, better ambiance in the regular seating area.
Service was great, especially for a busy day. We had a reservation, but since they were busier than they thought and they made us wait a few extra minutes, they served us champagne. Nice touch, and the servers were knowledgeable and friendly.
Arrived early and received very nice service by the bar tender and reception team.
Too noisy and tables too close together for valentines day
Overall great service and food! The high tables were a bit uncomfortable.
European cafe atmosphere. Great food, very attentive service, nice decor. Prices appropriate for the quality.
Food and service always fantastic. Be prepared to shout to be heard even though space is tight, with barely enough room to slip in between tables.
Food was incredibly bland. Not pleased whatsoever.
Always excellent food and service
Lunch of onion soup, quite good, and tuna tartare, excellent. Service was great, not rushed, attentive without being overbearing. Had not been to Lyon Hall in years and experience this time was spot on. The whole menu looked interesting so will definitely return.
Great food, great service....nice setting/ambiance
We had a wonderful pre-theater dinner. The pork schnitzel was very good, as were the mussels in vin blanc. The Plane to Paris cocktail was excellent. Would definitely plan a return visit soon.
Lyon Hall was the perfect spot for dinner among old friends. We ate oysters, mussels, pork roast and steak/frites, all tasty and well-prepared. It’s a bit noisy but we could still talk without shouting. All in all, highly recommend Lyon Hall.
Food was great!
Always reliable, excellent food. Love the wild mushroom &
Lyon Hall is a laid back bistro with excellent food, superb service, and a very pleasant ambience. You can even talk to someone over lunch without shouting or repeating "What?" The mussel bowl here is justly famous, but all the seafood is good and the wine list is excellent and moderately priced. I have never had a bad meal here or an unpleasant server. Keep on keeping on, Lyon Hall!
We were giving Lyon Hall a second chance after being served bad mussels two or so years ago. On this occasion we sat in the bar to enjoy the happy hour special, which is a great value proposition. We had the deviled eggs, which were good; two types of mussels (normandy, thai), which were pretty good (including the french fries), and the bavarian pretzel, which was a disappointment. The pretzel did not have that cushiony bite you would expect, but instead was bready and on the stale side of its useful life.
The food was fairly nice overall,l but definitely a couple of misses. The oysters were quite good and their texture was lovely. The escargots were ok but the was under seasoned and sauce missing something. The tuna tartare needed some sort of seasoning or sauce but was quite fresh. Maybe a one off, but the trout almondene was way overcooked, overlooking that, the taste was actually good. The creme brulee was i felt, a skip: dense and more resembled a flan, with no crunch left on the sugar top. The staff was busy but kind. The most noticeable gaf was the repeated abrupt removal of dishes. I feel that we should have been asked if we were finished before arms were reaching for their removal.
Food was delicious and atmosphere was great!!!
This is our favorite local spot. We always have great meals and stellar service
The only disappointment was their take on Creme Brulee which almost seemed like it was a thawed, grocery store isle dessert. I am a huge fan of Creme Brulee and was profoundly disappointed. That asside, the appetizers and the entrees were fantastic.
Food is always excellent- you can count on it. Instead of my usual moules, I had gangar steK with frites. The frites were disappointing- doggy. Need to be crisper. But the salted caramel Mille feuille was a good finish.
We liked the food so much we came back twice last week. I will take my brother from out of town this Friday. The food is excellent and a great value. The hostess was amazing fitting us in earlier in the week during restaurant week. I recommend the mussels in white wine. Soo up every drop of the white broth with the nicely crusted bread!
Amazing deal during restaurant week! There were huge portions and you could pick anything from the entire menu. It was a great experience and I’ll definitely be back!
Best brunch in town!
Spectacular food! I can't wait to return. Great place for a date-night or dinner and cocktails with friends.
We dined in for DC Restaurant week and were very much pleased that the whole menu was offered with some minor exceptions. For my main course, the duck was the better choice for a cold day as it tasted like a home-made stew. As I was not a fan of the first dessert that I ordered, the waiter offered to bring a second one out instead that my taste buds were pleased with. Good fun, warm food, and great service.
A fantastic restaurant with great food and attentive service.
Absolutely love Lyon Hall. Always enjoy my meals there and they are always consistently good. I go from time to time for lunch/brunch - and went again for restaurant week last week. Their prawn salad is absolutely my favourite salad, the trout is always delicious. and the dessert they had - the Mille-Feuille pasty dessert was outstanding. Highly recommend Lyon Hall for lunch/brunch and dinner.
Table next to us was annoying.
Our server was amazing... great suggestions!
