Called a day before our reservation to let them know we had a vegan in our group and ask if they could accommodate special diets. Was told yes, just ask the server for the menu with special diet options. We asked after being seated and were told there was no such menu. They said the chef could make a quinoa avocado salad, which was fine but was just the appetizer salad with a little bit of red quinoa on top and guacamole spooned on the side and really not a full meal. I would’ve appreciated just being told on the phone that they would only be able to do a side salad; we could’ve found somewhere else that had options. Otherwise the food was fine, and the outdoor seating was nice.
Thanks for a great Father’s Day brunch!!!
As usual, Lyon Hall is always a great place to eat, hang out, whatever. Bonus: sitting outside is such a great place to be too.
Service is great and food is delicious....awesome for Father's day brunch (and everything else)
Mussels were in a wonderful saffron sauce with shrimp. However some were not as fresh as I would have expected. Otherwise would have rated them a 5.
Great service and food. Absolutely a repeat winner
Nice casual local restaurant in Arlington. We were glad to have a reservation as the room was packed and buzzing on a Saturday night. The Thai mussels were terrific. Decent wine selection. Good friendly service.
Love this place! A Clarendon gem!
Food is delicious. Great service.
The tuna tartare and mussels were great!! And the chocolate mousse delivered “on the house” for my birthday was a delicious surprise!! Great evening.
Noise level was high because we chose to sit outside.
Service was excellent.
We love Lyon hall always a great experience
Great food and service. A pretty expansive menu and all items executed very well.
The service was VERY slow and the servers did not seem to care. There was no attempt to compensate for the problem. It took a long time to get bread. We decided not to order dessert because we thought it would take too long. The service marred what would otherwise have been a positive experience with good food and a nice ambience.
The mussels were outstanding! My salad was fresh, asparagus a little pricey but looked great. Look forward to going back because there were many items on the menu I would like to try. Bread and butter melted in you mouth. Wine and beer selections nice. The down side. Sevice was not good. Waiter seemed totally disinterested but he was servicing a lot of tables. We ate outside which lacked ambiance. Only 1 or 2 flower pots. Nothing on the tables except the essentials. No special forks or spoons to eat the mussels. No toasted bread to soak up the very tasty sauce. Most diners are young, late 20s and 30s. Happy Hour menu is a good value and lasts until 7! I'll definitely give Lyons Hall another try.
We had high hopes for Lyon Hall based on other reviews, but it was a pretty average place. The food, while good, relied heavily on oil and salt for flavor. The portions were well sized, neither too much nor too little, and the presentation was nice. Service-wise, we were 10 minutes with nothing at all and then another 20 minutes with only water, and it is possible that the situation only changed because we chased down the server and asked for her to just bring "everything." There was a good selection of wines and beers, though our experience it that you might wait a while so don't show up thirsty like we did. Given the numerous other dining options we feel no need to return but wouldn't reject if a friend wanted to go there.
Great dinner with an old friend.,food and service were excellent.steak and our schnitzel were wonderful. House-made sorbet was outstanding!
Our second time eating a Lyon Hall and it was as positive as the first. Excellent food and drinks - I would highly recommend it. A wonderful Belgian-style restaurant - and I lived in Belgium for two years.
Luncheon after anArlington burial. Excellent food and very nicely staff. We will definitely return when in DC. Thank you!
We enjoyed our dining al fresco, although there was a little street noise. The food was great and the service was exceptional!
Smoked salmon was quite terrible quality (and far too thick cut) but otherwise fine brunch.
Great food - wow service. Good at first but waited ages to order dessert and then get dessert.
The service was terrible. It was so slow for only having about 12 people in the whole place. We sat right next to the service area and got to listen to the employees stand around and talk about how hung over they were instead of working. We were given dirty glasses twice (after the first time they should have checked). I had to ask two different hostes for our check because our waiter disappeared. It took us almost an hour and a half for breakfast.
While this particular visit the meal wasn’t that memorable for me, it’s what I selected. Past visits as well as this provided a great, un-rushed meal with friends. Service absolutely on point. Lively ambience but not overwhelming. Overall a solid, good evening and will return to Lyon Hall.
If there was a national
Competition for the best waiter, our waiter, Mark, would be the clear winner. He was attentive, insightful, and thoughtful with every detail. It was truly a pleasure. He made us feel like we were in his own dining room rather than a crowded restaurant The food was excellent too but he made the entire experience exceptional! Thank you!
There were four of us dining. Two of us asked for dressing/sauce on the side; both orders came with sauce on or mixed in. That being said, the food was very good, especially the mussels ordered by my friend. My garden salad with salmon was generous and the salmon was perfectly cooked--if only the dressing had not been on-the-side, as ordered. The noise level in the restaurant was extremely high; so high that normal conversation was impossible. All-in-all, Lyon Hall is a good dining spot, although not in the must-go category.
Delicious, and I love when I am served an Amuse Bouche.
Great restaurant with good dishes. Although I do think they can improve the dishes with a little more flavor, however I would still eat there again.
Dinner date with the missus. Food was tasty. Wine pours were healthy. Service was great! First time here and my expectations were exceeded by a mile. Will go back for sure!
We were seated promptly at a table upstairs. Our server was welcoming and attentive. The food was amazing as always. Our friends who dined with us there for the first time were impressed. We had a wonderful evening, thank you Lyon Hall!
Very nice! The chef prepared the duck perfectly. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and he met them all.
A reliable experience, good food, good service, but nothing extraordinary.
I would like to have given the food a higher rating. Appetizers were wonderful....steak tartar, tuna tartar, lyonais salad...delicious.
Was looking forward to the main course, Thai curry mussels. Expected them to be spicy and flavorful. Very disappointed. No heat at all, but also lacking in flavor. Probably should have ordered something else looking back on it. One other person ordered the same dish, and she too was equally dissapointed.
I understand that Thai food is not their specialty, but in that case, maybe take it off the menu
We have had good meals at Lyon Hall before and in general, good luck with this restaurant group. We eat at Liberty BBQ or tavern nearly every week. This time at LH, service was poor and my husband's steak ($40) overcooked and tasteless. We came with our two children and found that nearly every table had at least 2 kids. This is nice to cater to families and a good business strategy for the restaurant, but I would never go out with adults here until after 7:30.
Great food, great experience. We sat outside on a beautiful day.
My parents paid so it was great
The service was terrible and waiter was extremely rude even with some basic questions.
Always great, our neighborhood favorite
Great food and service
For the most part, I’ve always enjoyed Lyon Hall. If nothing else, their fries are incredible. But the Lyon Hall burger was not good. Burger was beyond well done, despite being ordered medium rare, and the dominant flavor was burned meat. Yet somehow it was also greasy. I will be back, but won’t ever order the burger. C’mon guys!
I would not recommend them for breakfast. Donuts tasted stale, burger was undercooked and overloaded with condiments not listed on menu (like pickles which I do not like!). Only ate half the food. May come back for a happy hour to see if their drink and appetizer menu is better.
Another lovely bistro dinner at Lyon Hall! We have New England family so of course we ordered lobster rolls. They were delish, along with the salad and pomme frites. The waiter we had that evening was excellent. Checked in the right number of times, attentive, and friendly. We will be back many times this spring to enjoy their patio.
