Prime Rib Dip

Mixed Greens & Tomatoes, Balsamic Vinaigrette
It was a bit chilly, even in a booth. And the butternut squash ravioli was just warm. Our waitress Julia was great.
I love the ambience here and the fact they have live music every night. That said, don’t sit inside if you want to have a conversation. The service is good not amazing, but the food is always good. Had the Miso Sea Bass and it was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and the crab fried rice and habañero cauliflower complimented it well. It’s a bit pricey but well worth it.
Every time we go to this place, my husband and I are impressed with the food, the service and the amazing musicians in the live bands. Last night he had the scallops special and I had my usual, the wahine salad with some grilled shrimp. We also started with a bowl of their posole soup, which is so authentic just like when we were in Mexico a few years ago. Yum. And that pesto sauce with the bread is fab. The band last night was incredible. The saxophone player blew our minds. I think we put more in the tip jar than we spent on dinner because they were that good. The manager, Jose always says hello and we notice that everything runs smoothly under his watch. Highly recommend.
Delicious food and great cocktails. Live ban, very clean bathrooms
Amazing menu, fun and eclectic. We ordered several items off of the tapas and salad menus and everything was excellent! The bar area had a live band playing that was great. They added some liveliness but were not so loud as to overpower our conversation while we waited briefly for our table. We ate in the pop-up, outdoor dining area where the live music was piped in at a reasonable level and the strands of lights and vertical space heaters created a pleasing ambiance. Last, but certainly not least, our server was outstanding. A+ experience across the board.
Really excellent. Steak frites, Bangkok noodles, salmon, pozole, ribs and butter cake were all delicious, well prepared and well presented. Located right North Coast Highway makes for very high noise level due to motor cycles and cars.
Always a good choice and our very favorite and attentive server Emmie made it the perfect date evening!!
Enjoyed my dinner at this popular spot at the coast. The happy hour specials were reasonable, and I had a glass of wine, the wahine salad with mango, hearts of palm, and avocado, and lamb chops. Food was tasty and service was friendly without being intrusive.
My wife and I ate with another couple on a busy Friday night. The cocktails were excellent, service was great and my steak taco dish was fantastic. Everyone else enjoyed their food and cocktails as well. This is a fun, lively place that consistently puts out a good product.
Dinner with the wife and food was amazing! Service was also great. Emma was a terrific and warm server and Kristin the manager was clearly paying attention to what was going on at every table. Will definitely come back.
We tried out Le Papagayo Encinitas for the first time on Fri 10/15. Parking is a bit challenging due to the location. Nice atmosphere… once we got past the hostess booth. There we’re two hostesses. Unfortunately, the more petite of the two watched us walk up the ramp to the hostess booth and turned her back to us as we approached / completely ignoring us standing there for at least a minute before we were acknowledged by the second hostess. Not a good start to the evening- but keep reading… this is in fact a 5 star review!
Restaurant - There’s curbside dining, a bar area (a bit loud/crowded at times due to great live entertainment), but there’s a dining area behind the bar which was great for friends or small families. The outdoor courtyard in the rear is a great hangout area with plenty of heat lamps. Kristin (one of the managers) made a point to check on how we were enjoying ourselves. Nate was our original server, but got busy with existing tables. He made sure that another server was there to fill in, and he STILL came back to check on us! Inside service is a 10!
Food - the FOOD…OMG! The scallops were seared just right and served on perfectly cooked risotto. The Papagayo flatbread had top notch toppings (we’re sticklers for a good Italian sausage). The calamari strips were addicting (just wish more came in the order). The drinks (pear mojito, toasted coconut martini, and the Smokey Italian) were masterpieces!
Did I mention we went back again the next tonight to order everything we had last night?!!!!! Yeah- it was that good;-). Fortunately there was a different and more welcoming team of hostesses outside on Sat night, and miraculously- we got a spot in their lot pretty quickly! I also mentioned the incident from the night before to Jose (one of the managers). After speaking with him, I know that what I experienced the night before was not representative of how they do business. We will be back!
Oh Man, this place used to be an easy go to, but quality has slipped. The Paella was dry and the sea food was very dry, steak Frites were charred and not particularly good. The truffle fries were wonderful though. The flat breads were ok, but the balsamic was really sweet. Hoping that this slip is just temporary.
Excellent experience! Try the steak tacos! Delicious!
Probably one of the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had. Its much more casual than I gathered from the reviews so we were overdressed for our evening. But the atmosphere outside is lovely, the waitress and the food server both wanted to make it a lovely night. The food was good. I’d come back with warmer clothes and expecting a more casual atmosphere
As always the food was superb and the service was excellent. Our server, Emma, was terrific. Absolutely loved the live entertainment by Shook.
food was outstanding - service was excellent !! will definitely go back !
We really enjoyed the range of choices on the menu. The Le Papagayo salad is a favorite choice of mine, and you can add a range of proteins such as grilled salmon or a crab cake. The lamb chop tapas was tasty and the spaghetti bolognese was a great comfort food option. The outdoor courtyard dining was nice, but the music at times was too loud to allow talking. Great place to go on a Sunday night when everybody wants something different!
Nice place. We visited on a Friday night. Food service was quick. Nice menu, wide choice of different meals.
Everything was fantastic! Drinks, food, service! Rebecca rocks. The only complaint was the music was a bit too loud. We enjoy music during dinner but it was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk! Save that for 9pm. Just a few decibels lower would have been nice..
Service was great(Julia) food was great. Margarita was not great. I usually love them here, but I feel like it was missing something,…
Loved the musician.
We took friends for dinner knowing that there is a menu gor everyone. One person enjoyed flatbread because they featured a gluten free crust. We loved the stroganoff, and had lamb chops which can come with 2 or 4 chops. Great dinner, with entertainment and great service.
Wonderful staff, fun friendly atmosphere, and the first time I’ve had mussels that weren’t over cooked!
Best live music in Encinitas
Wonderful happy hour for an early dinner😆. Tapa menu is excellent! Good find!
A wonderful night outdoors. Great outdoor lighting and delicious food. Live music was playing and they adjusted speakers so we could still have a conversation with background music. A great experience
This was our second time visiting Le Papagayo, and first brunch. Great selection of breakfast and lunch items, all very delicious! We'll be back!
Great band equals great tunes , great food equals great night
Service by Shannon was first rate and they do a great job giving distance between tables - thanks for not being greedy!!
Will be back soon
Always enjoy eating here, and the live music is a bonus!
This place is hit or miss for me. I love the food, but the prices are outrageous!
Great service and awesome food!
Love the patio but wish music was louder to be able to enjoy the entertainment.
This was our first time dining at La Papagayo and we couldn't have been more pleased. The outdoor dining setting (due to Covid) was very well organized. Heat lamps were arranged perfectly and provided a very comfortable experience.
The few plates we ordered (App- Artichoke hearts, Entres - Oso Bucco and Papagayo Flat Bread) were incredibly tasty and very well presented. The artichoke hearts were some of the best i've ever had.
The service was fantastic. Our server, Andrew, aside from the fact he was extremely knowledgable about the menu, was incredibly pleasant, helpful and attentive.
If you are ever in the area I highly recommend dining at Le Papagayo!
Great service and atmosphere!
This restaurant is always awesome. Their mussels are incomparable. We got seated at a very nice distanced table. Food was served in proper timing. Very good. Delicious. Thank you
Fun spot to hear some music and get some good food. Almost always a wait, so make sure you reserve.
Always enjoy our experience at Le Papagayo. Food, service, music, ambience, such a great time. This place is a gem!
Good food, good music...love the blues! Service was great too!
Amazing food, good ambiance. Live blues band at night.
We shared a flatbread, the Papagayo salad and the butter cake. It was all super delicious. We will be back!
It was our first visit and we very pleased! The food was outstanding and the
service was friendly and prompt! We ate outside in the back and we did not have a noise issue. We also ate early!
We will look forward to returning.
