L'Auberge Chez Francois
Loved it. Great restaurant.
Thami was our wonderful waiter as he has been in the past. Food and service excellent.
received a confirmation call two days before. As I couldn't pick up, a message was left telling me to
call back! It is very unusal to ask a client to call back to confirm a reservation.
I was flabbergasted!
You can never go wrong with Chez Francois! The food is just amazing. For the first time in my life I actually got to experience the joy of a perfectly made Soufflé,,, It was exquisite! We haven’t been in a very long time and we’re so glad that this was the decision we made for today. Not to mention 70° in January just perfection!!!
First time to Chez Francios. I am not normally a review writer but this restaurant was first class. Wife and I went there with two friends. Food was excellent, service was above excellent, atmosphere was very nice, the pace of service excellent and next thing we knew it was 3 hours later that felt like 30 minutes. It was fantastic. Top 2 or 3 restaurant we have been to. We're going again. Frequently.
As always, Auberge exceeds expectations. Service and food were incredible. Well timed and superb prep and presentation. If you do not visit, you will be missing a real treat.
Wow, this team never disappoints. The service is so friendly, instinctive, and attentive. Every bite we tasted was a treasure, and we can't wait to go back. It's hard to find an experience like the one Chez Francois offers these days, so we're grateful for this long standing culinary institution.
Excellent food and service, it remains our #1 favorite restaurant in the DC area. We had a ball celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday at L'Auberge.
Fantastic meal and friendly service as usual
Food mediocre but the setting and service are wonderful.
Just the BEST!!! It never disappoints!!!!
I’ve been many times and each time I just love it!!
We have been coming to this French country inn for 25 years now on special occasions. The food and ambiance has always been good. This time however, we found the lobster overcooked (the steak was medium rare and excellent). For $100 per person, we expect excellence and it was not. We will return, but we are putting this establishment on notice.
Fine dining meets country inn all settled in a residential nook, away from commercial area. Impressive menu selection. Well prepared dishes. Amazing service. Overall just a delightful and impressive dining experience.
Always good food and good service. My husband had a seafood dish in a wine sauce which he thought was particularly good. The little extras served between courses (soup and sherbet) never fail to impress. It was a perfect venue to celebrate the friendships and mark the birthdays of our little group
We took my mother to celebrate a big birthday and I couldn’t have asked for anything more amazing! The service from the moment we arrived was phenomenal. Julio was amazing we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to make my mother’s birthday wonderful! The food from start to finish was some of the best I’ve ever tasted! I wanted to take home little parts of everything to savor forever! The cottage cheese with the bread was so amazing! If this could be sold in stores it would be a dream. We had Lobster and the plate was almost too pretty to eat. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. My mother had the lamb and beef medallions which she said were to die for. This truly was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to come back! I want to thank everyone for a truly amazing experience and for making her birthday so special!
Two Thumbs Up & Highly Highly recommend it!
We love Chez Francois and Jacques Brasserie, we come frequently. At a recent Saturday lunch I asked the server, who never gave us name, about if the bouilliasse was available as an appetizer. He said no but reluctantly checked with the chef. The answer was yes. However , I then ordered another appetizer which I have done for years. Salads are not on my diet. He was annoyed and said no but I could pay extra. No problem but he should have checked again. Very condescending which was highly unusual. The cotes de Rhône wine was undrinkable, he never asked why I didn’t drink. We will make sure server #3 is off our list. The food was awesome as usual
It was very pleasant and the food is always delicious
Establishment was beautiful for the holiday season. The food was okay but not meeting our expectations for a French fine dining experience. The service was also slow and not helpful in describing food selections. Overall, a disappointment for a special date night out with my partner.
We’ve been eating there for 34 years. Very dependable - everything is first rate.
Lunch at L’Auberge is always a treat. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, and the service is fantastic. The complete prix-fixe lunch at $45, which includes a glass of wine, is great value for a special occasion or just a lovely outing. I have dined there many times, particularly at lunch because of the great value, and the restaurant is consistently outstanding.
Exceptional dining. Exceptional service. Exceptional food and ambiance. Bravo lauberge chez francois team!
L'Auberge is our go-to restaurant for all of our big celebrations--birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It is our absolute favorite restaurant in the DC area, especially because of its Alsatian and classic French menu and ambiance, and its extra little "gift" dishes, such as the sorbet to rest the palate before the arrival of the entree. And, by the way, the plum tart, my favorite dessert, is unique here.
All I wanted for my birthday was Chez Francois’s bouillabaisse and a raspberry soufflé. And I got my wish in spades. Just a super wonderful dinner.
I’ve come to appreciate L'Auberge Chez Francois over the years because it always feels like coming home. I know that their classical French dishes will still be there, the service will be excellent along with table crumbing! We will always be treated well.
Everything was supper...the sommelier suggested the perfect Alsace Cremant to go with our dinner. All the perfect extras were there including the cottage cheese herb spread.
Chef Jacques even made the rounds that evening. It felt like Papa, Chef Francois, was still there and may have been in some form.
Great food. Beautiful decor. Great service.
The food, the ambience, the menu selection, the service, the experience was incredible. Truly an experience to behold.
Sunday lunch was just the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. We are so glad the suggestion to consider two half bottles of wine was made - we so enjoyed them both.
Delightful 19th birthday experience for our daughter
We love coming here for our holiday dinner with family. It’s our annual treat! We love our server Sammy. Ask for him!
Guest from out of town.
Chez Francois is a wonderful treat...interesting appetizers, many delicious alternatives for entrees, incredible desserts, an accommodating wine list and it’s feels/tastes authentic French without the attitude or travel, for us this place is the total package..love it!
Wonderful as always. Professional service, exquisite cuisine, and an ambience not found elsewhere. Always a celebration.
Excellent as always - purchased gift cards on the way out. Can't wait for my next visit!
I've celebrated more special occasions with family and friends at L'Auberge Chez Francois than I can count. It's virtually always a wonderful experience, but a few occasions stand out, such as the most recent holiday lunch. One advantage of dining at a favorite restaurant often is the opportunity to be greeted by name upon arrival, a lovely way to set the mood. You also get smiles of welcome and greetings from every server you pass. Service in general runs like a well-oiled machine, so food arrives at a good pace--and it's hot. It's also consistently tasty, and requests for items such as extra béarnaise sauce are filled cheerfully and quickly. Old-school comfort foods (beef bourguignon) have a depth of flavor, and lighter dishes (trout) are deftly handled. The $45.00 lunch price includes a glass of wine and is a remarkable bargain. Go ahead, though: Pay extra for a delicious dessert soufflé and your lunch turns into a party!
Beautiful location, decor and ambience felt like Alsace-Lorraine and their holiday decorations were magical. Service was so attentive without being intrusive. Food was excellent. This is a “go-to” special occasion place and it made our post-Christmas weekend very special.
We had a family dinner of 10 and outstanding service from Jefferson. The participants were varied and unsure their meal choices with ages from 80 to 21 and he was patient and accommodating. The food was very good and the back room was warm and cozy.
A very nice afternoon.
Decided to have a special date night after Christmas and enjoyed our favorites like French onion soup and escargot, and tried their specials for the night, which was beef Wellington and Christmas goose. Everything was delicious and the sommelier was on point with our wine selection.
Great cozy place for a cold night.
