"Well-prepared, reasonably priced Italian food in a lovely setting, either indoor or out, overlooking the boat channel in Marina Del Rey. If Sapori was in Newport or Malibu, there would be a crowd clamoring for a table. Luckily for diners but unfortunately for the restaurant, it's in the moribund Fisherman's Village complex, so getting a table is never a problem. With a plate of pasta and a nice Barolo, watch the yachts cruise by in an airy setting so adult and civilized that you can actually talk to your companions. Newcomer Salt is less than half a mile away, and also on the channel, with inferior food but much greater hubbub."See more

"I suppose they are trying to have an active bar scene so maybe it's busier on week nights but it was astonishingly empty last Saturday night between 6 and 9 PM. I could see why. They've lost their loyal clientele (that would include me) by trying to be too hip. The updated decor is fine; the food is actually better than it used to be; service friendly and effective but the whole thing lacks spirit. Except for the few moments where someone was yelling so loudly in the bar, I thought something untoward was happening. Quite disconcerting. The koi are still there but, in my opinion, I'm sorry to say this, there are better choices when in MDR."See more

"Went to Salt as a "last minute" option for a later dinner and were able to get a great table over looking the Marina del Rey. The octopus appetizer was great, with the right amount of char and a delightful addition of chorizo and salsa verde. The filet, however, left a little to be desired. While I freely admit, I am a beef snob, living in Chicago and having the ability to go to any one of many amazing steak houses at a whim, I was still not completely satisfied. I ordered it medium rare and it was definitely medium, a big "no no" for steak people, however the presentation and the potatoes accompanying it were very good. I'll chalk it up to our late reservation. However, all said, this restaurant is a winner, with great drinks, try the signature "Salt". I would definitely recommend it to any friends who ask."See more

"The smooth elegance of the Chart House's dining area greeted us as we arrived, with echoes of elegance in the meal presentation and service. The calming ambiance is a delightful contrast to the bustle of L.A. traffic we survived to drive there. Nestled away in Marina del Rey, do not overlook this excellent restaurant. The menu offered so many tempting creations, it was frustrating to limit my order to what could be eaten in a single meal. And pricing does not require a second mortgage - unlike the disconcerting dining trend of checks equal to a car payment. We were sorry to leave the VIP treatment but look forward to revisiting soon. Expanding the salad bar to include a cheese board would be my only recommendation."See more

"I like Cafe del Rey a lot, particularly for lunch. The view of Marina del Rey is unbeatable, so nice and relaxing. The food is consistently very good and nicely presented and the service has always been friendly and efficient. We especially like having a late lunch here, around 3 pm. At this time you are limited to the bar menu, which is varied tapas style plates and pizzas, but the dining room is empty and a few times my wife and I had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Very relaxing, very enjoyable, put the top down on the car and take a nice drive around the marina before heading home. Life is good!"See more

"We went with friends to the Warehouse in Marina del Rey for Sunday brunch on a beautiful sunny day. We were glad that we had requested and were lucky to get a window table. The view of the marina was fantastic with a lot of activity on a perfect weather day. Start with unlimited drinks: Champagne, orange juice (mimosas, anyone?), other juices, tea, coffee, water by request only (yeah!), more? ( forgot to ask about hot chocolate!) This was a buffet on steroids. The selection of foods was almost overwhelming from made to order omlets, waffles and more at the breakfast area, then walk over to another area for lunch selections including a meat carving station, bagels & lox, salads, peel and eat shrimp, king crab legs (asked for a seafood cracker), hot dishes, empanadas, "et cetera, et cetera", and then we went back for dessert. Did not feel rushed and really enjoyed the fun food, location and the company of our friends!"See more

"I love Cast and Plow on the marina in Marina Del Rey. Located inside the Ritz Carlton, it already has the ambiance and decor that you would expect from a high end hotel chain. Add to that the sunsets on the marina, the outdoor seating with fire pits in the table, and exceptional service from a well trained waitstaff and you've got yourself a great place to take clients, a first date or your family. Thanks to the cost of drinks and the slightly upscale menu, Cast and Plow is usually devoid of the usual college kids / yuppies that can ruin a classy joint by causing a scene and ripping shots left and right. The staff is outstanding and I would recommend this establishment to any of my colleagues or friends."See more

"This is a great find in MDR. It may be a hotel restsurant, but locals love this place too and for good reason. The food is amazing especially for the price. The view of the Marina and the hotel's well manicured grounds makes for a beautiful surrounding. And. As a nice plus, dogs are allowed on the patio with their owners and are treated with water by the staff. They also have a nice Happy Hour every day. I'l be back for sure...might even become a regular!"See more

"Food is good, but nothing to get excited about. The fish is fresh and wonderful, as you would expect. Really, it's about the ambiance. Irori feels more Japanese than the rest, starting from taking off your shoes, then on to the floor level tables with cut out wells for you feet. I guess I go here and bring guests just for that Japanese feeling. Wait staff keeps that up too. I work in Marina Del Rey and have dropped by for a few business lunches. Perfect place for lunch in the area."See more

"We have enjoyed Ruth's Chris Steak House in Beverly Hills for years. But not long ago, they opened a new branch in Marina del Rey, closer to our home. This new(ish) restaurant is very comfortable and fairly quiet for anyone who's interested in conversation instead of cacophony. But the main draw is the food, which is extremely well prepared and presented. I had the lamb chops, which were delicious, and everyone else had some cut of beef, all top notch. We all enjoyed their signature side dishes, the potatoes au gratin and the asparagus (how they cook it perfectly every time is a mystery). Our party of four visited on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but not packed. We saw a few couples on date nights, but even more large families celebrating special occasions (it isn't a cheap meal by any stretch, but it's worth the price of admission). With the Marina City Marketplace's recent renovation, there are a number of new and increasingly popular restaurants in the complex -- which makes parking problematic at times. Outside of that, it was a fine evening at Ruth's Chris Steak House."See more

Variety or choices from small plates to full entrees. Definitely a place to share because you want to try everything. the Varenekies (dumplings) are a must, as is the honey layer cake. we were six at the table and everyone had something different and each dish had it's own flavor.
