Father’s Day party of 9 and I wanted reservations! Dining early because of grandchildren and mixture of dietary needs and not a chain restaurant …that makes it a tough call! The Bijou seemed like a calculated risk and it payed off. Situated across the street from the main entrance to Shea’s Performing Arts Center on Main Street it was fun to watch the subway come in and out of the tunnel ( grandson enjoyed it) and there is limited street parking ( which happened to be free on Sundays) and no current event at Sheas so we were easily accommodated for seating. Most of the family ordered the Salmon dinner… 1 who wanted it missed out because we ordered more than they had! I thing that is a GOOD THING, it means that they order their fresh provisions close to the chest, nothing sitting around getting old! ( I had a long hospitality background years ago so I look at things differently than a layperson) We had a allergic to ALL seafood diner and they took care not to cross contaminate between plates. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold, pork chop dinner and kids options were very tasty and EVERY dish was attractive, and had elevated elements. The bar was well stocked for the two dads in our party. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, and polite , efficient. We NEVER order desserts but after a look at the offerings we ordered 6 desserts, the 2 children had a good portion of vanilla ice cream that was included with their meals. We will make it a point to return when downtown, especially when we are at Sheas!
