Muy buen restaurant, exelente servicio, buena comida. Fried Calamary de app, cocktail de camarones es lo que nos pedimos de entrada muy bueno, los postres y la comida. Super recomendado. El servicio es A1
Mediocre service. Those who had steaks said they were good. My crab cakes were so so as were the desserts. We only had to ask for utensils 2-3 times in order to be able to eat the desserts. Also, I recognize that people want to get out of work after a long day on their feet, but running a vacuum cleaner and putting away coffee items while people are still trying to enjoy their desserts and company is a bit much. P. S. The decaf coffee is atrocious
The restaurant is tired and needs to be refurbished. Especially with the prices being charged.. We sat at a wobbly table that had seen better days. The wait staff were great, but clearly under staffed. The food was excellent and came out piping hot.
Excellent ingredients, service and ambiance! I had the lobster Cobb salad and you got a great portion of lobster. It would be great if there was some relaxing background music.
Graham was our server and he was excellent. Please relay that to him.
ordered the filet mignon with a dollop of crab aka Filet Oscar (albeit far less crab than pictured in the enticing come-on photo in the email promotion) . Selected two sides: Brussel sprouts w/prosciutto and a mushroom risotto. Everything was delicious. washed it all down with JGilberts custom Manhattan. sat at bar and bartender was , as usual, fantastic.
I was a little concerned when we arrived that no one on the staff was wearing a mask. I would have expected an establishment like Gilbert's to have more concern for their staff and their customers.
Great food, cooked to preferences, great service.
Great time for my dad’s bday. The dirty martini was perfect! The salmon and steaks were delicious!
Great food, great service, as always. Can't ask for more.
Porterhouse steak not as flavorful or tender as in prior visits.
Absolutely great for all aspects. From the starter to the dessert.
Our daughter loves the chocolate velvet cake, so we have to go every time she comes home from school for breaks. My filet was delicious, cooked exactly as I like it
Had a lovely dinner. Treated the kids at the table with kindness and respect. Price fixed menu did not disappoint.
The crab bisque and shrimp Diablo were very good. Salmon, filet, shrimp were fine. Crab cakes depend on personal preference. Tomahawk steak was impressive and cooked very well. Brussels sprouts needed to be crispier. Potatoes au gratin was great. Server was on point not too present but never waited for him to come around, friendly but not too much. Ambiance: very dark, felt stuck in a corner. I’m sure the tables near the fireplaces were better.
Food and service were excellent. Steaks, crabcakes, salmon, bisque all delicious. Food and plates were hot. Each course served all at once. By a team of servers
But BEWARE: they overcharged us by over $50: double-charged for certain items and didn’t apply the prix fixe price. Any it took them two tries (and 15 min) to fix it.
I’ve noticed this at other area restaurants and so am starting to wonder if it’s deliberate.
Excellent food and service. Have never had a problem at this location. Great experience at a reasonable price.
We love J.Gilbert's. It is classic McLean and we've been going for many years. The host staff is always so welcoming upon arrival. Our server lacked warmth and was deliberate/responsive in his service, but never asked if we needed anything like a drink refill or dessert. Service is so hit or miss, though, and staffing is so challenging in any service industry right now (post-waning days of COVID)- happy to give J.Gilbert's a mulligan.
Overall, the food was very good (those who deviated from the prix fixe Thanksgiving menu REALLY enjoyed their filets). The Thanksgiving meal was a generous portion and included all the typical fixings.. Of course, we'll be back!
Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing. Turkey wasn’t tender and the dressing was drab and tasteless. The crab bisque was served with just a tiny portion of crab quickly drowned by the soup itself. Except for the attendance of the wait staff, it was an unfortunate let down.
The waiter was very professional, courteous and polite.
Excellent service on such a crouded day. Food was excellent
Thanksgiving: the food was wonderful and the service was extraordinary. Our waiter, Graham, was given 10 stars by us. He was one of the best waiters! We were lucky.
The Thanksgiving meal was outstanding Our waiter took very good care of us.
Outstanding meal. Food was prepared to perfection. Excellent service. Will return!
we always enjoy dining at J, Gilberts and have scheduled several events there for family and friends.
Delicious dinner! Steak was perfectly prepared and the crab cake was full of flavor. Excellent wine selection and original cocktails. Service was outstanding- Evan was our waiter and he was knowledgeable, friendly and so efficient.
Have never had a bad meal at Gilbert’s. Expensive? Very. But the place to go for well prepared service.
Every time we go to J Gilbert’s we feel like we have our own private dining room. The service is always great. The food is always perfect. The vibe is relaxing and you get quality time with your group.
server graciously accommodated our request for faster than normal service due to our desire to get to a basketball game
Terrible service our steaks was not warm it’s like room temperature
Also received sides I didn’t order
They have changed the menu and prices have gone way up- will definitely not be our go too place anymore for an evening out
This was our first visit to your restaurant. My wife Maple Plank Roasted Salmon with associated roasted potatoes and asparagus and it was all very good. I had the wood grilled Ribs, Creamed Corn with Bacon and Poblano Au Gratin Potatoes. Although the Ribs were very meaty, the KC BBQ flavor was missing entirely. In fact, there was no BBQ flavor whatsoever. I had 2 ribs and took the rest home where I will remove the meat and add KC BBQ sauce and recook them for sandwiches to see if that helps. As for the sides, the Poblano Au Gratin Potatoes were nothing but inundated with garlic and had zilch flavor of potatoes and cheese, so I could eat it. The Creamed Corn I would call Soup of Creamed Corn and it also was disgusting. For dessert we had a Creme Brûlée and we both enjoyed it. Our waitress was extremely attentive and a delight to have wait on us. We will return and I'll try something else next time. Bill was $107 with tip.
We arrived on a Tuesday night to a jammed parking lot and no valet. I was concerned the night was off to a rocky start. However, we were quickly seated at a fairly quiet table. Server was polite and attentive. Seafood mixed platter was great and the filets were cooked to perfection. J. Gilberts is my consistent "go to" spot.
One of the 5 best for me in the Tysons area. Really good food, service and atmosphere.
We were slowed to be greeted; drinks took a bit of time, but once things started - service was great.
Service was very slow and food came out equally slow. Often had to remind service staff of what we had requested
Absolutely the best food and service tonight! We ordered steaks and salmon with salads. All were prepared and served perfectly. Great service as well.
We went for a late lunch/early dinner. The restaurant wasn’t crowded. However we had a wait so they could prepare our table. When escorted to the table all the hostess did was remove the extra plates, utensils, and glassware. It took a long time for the sever to come take our drink order and bring the drinks. So when he did, we promptly ordered. It still took a long time to get the food.
The food was delicious, as usual, as we often dine here.
Our server was attentive and efficient and courteous. The food was outstanding as always; I had the filet and crab soup with creme brûlée for dessert; my husband had the porterhouse, expertly cooked. Our new favorite place!
Our party of four had a great time at J.Gilbert's. Great table, excellent server, good food and a nice place for us to catch up after not seeing each other for two years.
