   My best friend took me to J. Gilbert’s for my 63rd birthday . I love how they make you feel extra special when it’s your birthday . The food was amazing as always . I got the Short Ribs Gnocchi and my friend got the Filet . Perfect dinner . Our waiter was great as well . Thank you J. Gilbert’s for making my day complete .

   We love J, Gilbert’s. Usually great food at a commensurate price. That said, this time one of the filets was ordered medium and came to the table rare. Not a difficult fix, however, it’s really not an acceptable error for a steak restaurant at these prices. At the point in the meal it wasn’t worth sending back (we would just take it home as left overs). I raised it with my waiter and expected it to be comped. Comp was not offered. While we will likely dine there again, it was a bit disappointing.

   We always enjoy our experience here and trying new things on the menu. The French onion soup was excellent and we enjoyed our server!

   This was my first time at this restaurant and I’m happy to say I’ll definitely be back. Service was impeccable and pleasant. Food was delicious and the presentation was perfect.

   It has been many years since our last visit, but the restaurant is as good as it has always been. Steak, sides, seafood and dessert were all excellent. Wine prices reasonable. Service was excellent.

   It was our anniversary and when we were sat at the table it was decorated with tiny little hearts. Our server Michelle was amazing. She was very conscious of my gluten allergy and made sure to recognize which foods I could and could not eat. She was very attentive and the food was delicious as always. The filets were prepared to perfection. My husband and I agree that J Gilbert’s has the best steaks in CT.
