    Celebrated our anniversary with dinner. We were not seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time although other parties, also of two, with later times were seated before us. Service was slower than usual. Shrimp cocktail and crab cake appetizers were good, filet mignon was rather dry which is unusual. Disappointed that we were not offered a dessert to share to celebrate as for a birthday. The restaurant was very crowded and very noisy making it rather difficult to hold a conversation and hear the server. All in all though, it was good but perhaps not really as good as it used to be.

    Always a great place to eat and the service can not be beat. When in doubt - pick J. Gilbert's over any other.

    Always have a great meal and a great experience at J. Gilbert’s. Very busy on a Monday night but service was excellent, food was great and we enjoyed the evening.

    As usual, it was my spouse's birthday, and we had two surprised guests attended my invitation. When we sat in our booth, it had enough space to have 4 guests total. Our server Jacqueline was attentive and patient with our questions and needs. At the end of the meals, we were surprised to have a candle on the carrot cake we ordered. Of course, we used the birthday voucher sent to him. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch.

    After 20 years of reliably being our favorite steak house, we have been disappointed twice in a row. Our last visit was a bit less than we'd hoped when we were served a pork chop that was raw inside. It was immediately taken away, as we expected,and the problem was rectified. We thought nothing of it. On the visit yesterday we ordered calamari appetizer, the salad with chicken and two filets. The calamari was dry as a bone, overcooked. The salad had a chicken bone that was not properly removed from one of the chicken pieces. We left the bone on the table. We had an amazing server and we did not complain. But I want folks to know that the standards are not what they used to be. Hoping for a change soon. Would hate to completely give up on J. Gilberts.

    Everything was top notch and new design to menu. We both ordered the Block Island Swordfish. it was a lovely presentation and everything tasted great. We began with the calamari lightly breaded and delicious dipping sauces. We finished up with expresso and carrot cake. The ambiance soft and quiet and just an overall great dinner experience.
