Garufa Argentinean Restaurant

Garufa is a steakhouse restaurant. On our first visit, we very impressed with their tenderloin steaks, their 3 toppings for their complimentary French bread, and Mexican chocolate cake from a Juarez bakery. Since Las Cruces, NM has no dine-in availability to high Covid-19 infection rates and is abysmally lacking in fine dining restaurants, we have always tried to partake of some fine dining while in El Paso. Upon perusing Garufa menu we found some interesting salads and empanadas. On this second visit, my partner stuck with steaks, a churrasco which was very tasty and tender. I tried a small* Palta salad (avocados, apples, celery, pecans, and heart of palms) with a thousand island looking dressing, quite unremarkable in execution. As an entree, I tried three seemingly interesting empanadas, humita (mozzarella, corn, and bacon bits), blue cheese (mozzarella, Roquefort, diced celery, and pecans), and camaron (shrimp, bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions) each in house made flakey empanada. Only the camaron was tasty others failed to taste up to their ingredient statement. Although their menu is well written as regards salads and empanadas, I must say that execution is wanting. So, while there are still pasta dishes to try, we think we'll, in the future, go here for steaks only.
*. NOTE: The server mentioned that their large salads as well as their pasta dishes are frequently sufficient for two people.
Alfredo Salmon Pasta was amazing, also the cheesecake is outstanding. Totally recommend and great service
The food was tasty and prepared nicely. The waitstaff was attentive and our water glasses never stayed empty for long. The ambiance was pleasant and conducive to an enjoyable dinner. I will go back.
Amazing lunch special! Food is delicious, staff is friendly and the overall ambiance is pleasant.
Another dining find in El Paso, while inside dining in New Mexico is prohibited.
Garufa, an Argentinian steakhouse was chosen mainly because it was not a Mexican restaurant.
Often a good sign that you are in for a fine dining experience is the bread. Four slices of a French bread accompanied by spreads of chimichurri, Arbol chili paste, and marinated cannot beans.
Since Las Cruces steakhouses are chains, we will have to come here for steaks once in a while. We both had their 7 oz. tenderloin, one coming in bed of mashed potatoes surrounded by red wine reduction and topped with shredded fried onions and the grilled sweet onions and a roasted jalapeno which complemented the very tender meat. We ask for additional chimichurri which made wonderful topping on the steak. We finished with marvellous chocolate cake made by Julia's in Juarez specifically for Garufa. What made this cake special was slight hint of bitter chocolate which is quite the surprise from typical chocolate frosting which are all sweet. Like Entrecote the French bistro a few blocks down Mesa, we'll be coming to El Paso again for these dining delights!
Appetizers were very good. Entrees were average at best. Service was impecable, but he did serve me very old wine by the glass that tasted like vinegar.
This restaurant is amazing. The food is terrific, the attentive service incredible and a management team that cares about all who enter. We will definitely go back again.
Great ambience and service. Ribeye was a little hard but otherwise a great place for a business dinner
Great Service, great food the chicken alfredo is great here and friday at 7 pm they have live jazz music.
Perfect evening.
The food was delicious and the service by Edgar was outstanding.
Will definitely be back when in El Paso
Excellent food, great service... a winning combination when you are with your loved ones
Great food, great Service. the Best cheesecake
Great atmosphere! Great service and very attentive.
my rib eye steak was cold........potatoes nice and warm.
Daughter asked for a mojito and drink was no good prepared with menthe concentrate.
Bone marrow was raw after waiting an eternity for it.
Music was great and the steaks had a perfect flavor.. and service was great.
Excellent place to dine, either with a date or with friends. I've dined here multiple times. The tenderloin and the ribeye are delicious.
The empanadas are also a great get. However, my personal favorite appetizer has to be the sausage. It is phenomenal.
Do yourself a favor and eat at Garufa.
The empanadas are great.
Some of the finest food anywhere in El Paso. The skewer with steak and veggies was beyond delicious. I had the sea bass as well. A slice of heaven.
Had a reservation for today, showed up and they were closed! Missed up my whole idea! I was going to ask my girlfriend to marry me but they messed it up! So now I had to hold off to figure out what I’m going to do! Really unprofessional!!
I left a google review, but everything about this restaurant was phenomenal! Highly recommend!
Food and drinks were great, the wine and food menu left us wanting more! The service was significantly slower than we expected, but staff was friendly and helpful.
Live music upstairs, would have been great to know or be seated upstairs, perhaps upon request only?
Will definitely be back again
Had an opportunity for a night out and seized it. Couldn’t be happier with our choice. Very nice and fantastic steak house. Wife is from South America (Brazil) and the churrasco took her back home. The empanadas are also a home favorite of hers and hit the spot here every time. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice night and aren’t afraid to pay for quality. Great care taken to make sure our night was a terrific one.
found this place enroute to our destination and was pleasantly surprise, great place, live music, food and service were worth the stop my girl had the pasta and it was one of the best she has tasted a little on the spicy side, and my steak was cook to perfection.
Lovely ambiance and great service. Will definitely go again.
Amazing experience. Food and drinks are always great and service is awesome. Great for Date night . Thank you for an amazing evening.
We had a wonderful dinner at Garufa. They did a great job with Covid restrictions - everyone wearing a mask, tables far apart from each other, hand sanitizers available and service was outstanding as always. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and the wine selection was great.
Appetizers were innate. Very well put together.
Great experience and food!
It was awesome experience being there. For instance, I love the set up of the table and being several right way. In addition, the food way delicious.
Edgar was a wonderful server! He offered great recommendations. Ask for him!
Always love this place! The service and food is great! Cool bar too.
I celebrated my anniversary and i had an outstanding experience!
This was by far one of the best dining experiences i have had. Very attentive and provided exceptional service. Food was amazing!!! I would compare this to Ruth’s Chris and its more affordable with the same class and elegance as expected from a higher caliber restaurant.
Wow. The ambiance is soothing and the food delicious. Will definitively return.
Great food as always. Jeff was our waiter. Exceptional service and food. We had a selection of empanadas, wine and the special.
Great selection of appetizers and steaks were really good. Service was attentive and not rushed. Great place for a special occasion dinner.
Great atmosphere, great service, and interesting menu. Was hoping for better tasting steak for the price. Maybe I’m just used to a salty steak like the ones served at Ruth’s Chris or Cafe Central. These steaks were cooked perfectly but to me and my wife, lacked seasoning.
Just poor overall service from the waiter. He knew nothing about the menu and rarely returned to check on anything...the busman was on the spot refilling water. Everyone’s steak was mediocre, sides were good and dessert was mostly unavailable. Not likely to return with other good options in downtown now.
We had dinner reservations for a Saturday night and thought that maybe the place wasn’t good because it was empty (around 6:30). We ordered drinks at the bar and were promptly seated at our table. The service was spectacular and our server was able to explain the menu to us in detail along with wine and drink recommendations for each dish. We went with the rack of lamb and the butterflied ribeye. The lamb was crazy delicious and was served with a mint jelly that added a nice change from the blackberry jam I’m used to having with lamb. The ribeye was super tender and juicy, you could practically cut it with a fork. I would highly recommend this place for a date night.
