Waiter was only interested in rushing me through the meal. Appetizer arrived before the cocktail!
We were seated upstairs and it seems that the service dwindled a bit, but food was great, staff was kind, and the place was beautiful. Hope to go back in the future.
Service was terrible and food was subpar, fairly disappointed
Went for the seafood. Waiter tells us that 2 out of the 3 seafood dishes had already sold out. This was at 7 pm on a Friday evening!
Great food! One of the best meals we’ve had in New York.
The food is great for any time of day...what makes this restaurant excellent is the friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service!
Food was outstanding. Crab cake appetizer was as good as I have ver had. Plenty of different food groups to choose from. Desserts were off the chart. Waiter was excellent as well and accomodated us when we asked if we could make small changes to our order. We will definitely be back.
This is our second time here. We have been pleased with the food. The menu tends to be static from season to season. We would expect more seasonal offerings from a farm to table restaurant.
We waited for our food (a salad and omelet) for 40 minutes - which at lunchtime is basically all the time we had, so we ended up feeling really rushed. The food is decent, and it's a lovely place to sit outside when the weather is nice.
Extremely fresh and great service!
The waiter Carl was the best!
Great food. Lively waiter
We really enjoyed our meal here. We were seated promptly and when we asked to be moved due to loud construction noise coming through the wall from next door to our table they were very gracious about it. The food and service were excellent. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Our meal was delicious, I highly recommend the Rose club sandwich and the chicken pot pie. They only comment I would pass along to management is to keep the music to a moderate to low volume. It can be hard to have a conversation if you have to shout over the music. They did turn it down when asked and the patrons around us seemed to relax and enjoy themselves more when that happened. I would highly recommend this place but be sure to make a reservation if you can, it is popular and does get busy.
Food is very good. Service was slow and needs to be improved to match the quality of the food.
I have been here many times but my experience yesterday was terrible. Service was atrocious, our waitress was incredibly rude and unattentive. I ordered the boomer special however the kitchen was out of ham, I asked if I could have mushrooms instead, our waitress said the only option was fruit and was unwilling to ask the kitchen for anything else. I pushed the matter as this seemed odd, given that there are mushrooms in other dishes and it was an inconvenience that they did not have what I wanted. She then replied with a very annoyed tone that she would ask but highly doubted it and stormed off. Our drinks then took over 20 mins to arrive. We could not see our waitress anywhere to even ask for a status update. The food came however there was no salt or pepper on the table and we wanted ketchup. Again we could not see our waitress and our food was going cold. Eventually one of my party had to get up and go to a different server to ask. Very disappointing experience.
Nice brunch options, we had farmers omelette and eggs benedict, both were good but served cold. The service staff was nice but I think they are a bit understaffed for heavy brunch mornings.
Service slow. Between ordering and serving, they ran out of what we ordered so they gave me fruit without the granola. Then I asked someone else to check on whether there was really no granola left and voila! there was granola.
Awesome as always.
Very fresh, but took over an hour after ordering to receive food!
The food was delicious but the service was abysmal. It took us 30 minutes just to get a glass of wine. The waiter was really non-plussed that we were waiting. I'd like to go back there, but would not unless time was no issue whatsoever.
We had a delicious dinner at the cozy Friend of a Farmer on our weekend getaway to NY. The quiet location was a gem in the city and the warm interior was perfect for a cool nights dinner. I had a delicious specialty cocktail and our food was all full of flavor and so, so good. I had the appetizer crab cakes for my entree with a side of their creamy mashed potatoes and I highly recommend. If you are looking for locally sourced comfort food—this is your place!
Came for dinner and had a great meal. We had reservations and the host seated us immediately. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. At first we were a bit concerned as our meals came out EXTREMELY fast. Even before our waiter brought our wine. Which made us wonder if the food was fresh and hot. However, once we started our meals, we both commented on how good, fresh and hot the food was, despite our concerns. Topped off dinner with the Apple pie which was amazing. Would definitely recommend and would go back again.
Had dinner with four friends on a Thursday night. Fun was had by all with a few hiccups along the way. The Key to the Park cocktail was delicious. The Terry Allan Chicken was abhorrent. It’s a mess of a dish, doesn’t make any sense and wasn’t revenge delivered with all the ingredients listed on the menu — super odd. Our overbearing waiter kept hawking a $50 bottle of Chardonnay marked down from $120 “for tonight only” over and over. I don’t mean to complain though, I’ve always loved this place.
Music not consistent with “farm to table” or conversation. Greeting & Service perfunctory. Pot pie described as taking 25 minutes which was fine except it was delivered like warm. Guacamole & pita outstanding.
The service was unfortunately bad on this occasion and the food was also disappointing. I have had a couple of good experiences in the past but this time definitely didn't work out.
I have been to this restaurant twice in 2 weeks with large parties. Absolutely everything that we had from appetizers to desserts were amazing. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is friendly and attentive. This is now my favorite restaurant in NYC.
Our server Karl is amazing.
The food was lovely, especially the Cobb salad. But the waiter was hardly around. We had to ask for everything. He never even offered a beverage beyond water.
Great food! Super cute place.
We loved everything about it - the decor, the waiter, the food.
Repeat visit after 1-2 yr lapse -
Very pleasant experience. “Country Inn” setting, rushed but helpful waitstaff. Food markedly better, still simple but now more sophisticated. Really enjoyed the entire experience
We will be back
Awesome, love the homey feeling. Appetizers were a great blend of flavors and texture. The dinner was great and the dessert was so tempting. Wonderful experience.
Great place to go with family! Prices reasonable for the neighborhood and food tastes great.
Very disappionting. Tap water that we order in all NYC restaurants, in this particular one was undrinkable and smelled of swimming pool. The wait staff dismissed it as 'the city water, what do you expect' but after the whole experience here, I now suspect it was designed to make you order bottled water. Food arrived uncooked, pasta hard as stone, frozen peas still frozen. Crostini served for aperizer cold. When I complained about pasta they took it away, apologized briefly and mentioned several times that the will take it off the check as if that should be a good enough compensation and they were doing me a favor! No time for me to order something else so I remained hungry. My companions chicken pot pie was a mush and really unapetizing. Two apetizers, one main course a beer and a glass of mediocre wine, plus the mentioned small bottle of water amounted to $80. Not cheap enough for such a poor quality.
Friend of a Farmer was fantastic. Stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday and sat outside to enjoy one of the first nice, spring days.
The service was slightly over-attentive imo -- we were asked for our orders 3 times before we were ready -- but that may have just been because it was so early in the night and the place was pretty empty.
The food was outstanding. We split the parmesan shrimp appetizer and the mushroom tagliatelle. Both were amazing. Only 3 shrimp in the appetizer, but they were delicious, cheesy (an unexpected seafood twist) and perfectly cooked. The pasta was excellent, as well.
But the real highlight was the starter complimentary cornbread. It seems more like a dessert, topped with cinnamon apples, but I could eat it forever. Will definitely be back.
40 minutes to sit with reservation. Most of the menu was sold out. It was really frustrating.
We had a great lunch. Delicious cheese plate, and the chicken on the club sandwich was perfectly prepared. Get wait staff aa well. We got to sit in the front table downstairs overlooking the street and it was perfect.
We went there for an anniversary. Although not planned, the entire staff sang to the Bday lady with a desert and Bday candle. So very spontaneous and social.
We are Dutch and they took the time to give us advise on where to go and what to visit. Due to the staff we ended up visiting a NY Yankees match. Wunderfull.
The food was excellent. Well balanced, healthy, displayed on the plate with a care.
We loved it and will come back in August!
8 minute wait before water served- a night of half capacity. Drink orders and an app nearly forgotten. Food ok.
