Friend of a Farmer
Lunch: Monday - Friday 11:30am - 4:00pm
Dinner Served Every Night: 5pm-10pm
Service was wonderful, very nice people all around. In my opinion most of the food was overpriced considering how much fruit they put in almost every dish (sorry not my taste, maybe they can give more savory options?) and for $18 dollars the burger was good, not great. We were embarrassed they did not accept a certificate that we were sold for the restaurant, trying to take out of town guests somewhere special, but ambience sitting outside looking at the park was priceless. Our guests loved that too.
Always love this spot. Great vibe and amazing food.
Have enjoyed both breakfast and lunch. The food quality is great as was the service and general atmosphere. In very nice Grammercy Park neighborhood location.
Open Table’s website states this restaurant takes American Express. It does not.
This error caused me trouble & embarrassment.
Loved this restaurant! We liked it so much we went twice (for lunch and dinner) over the weekend. Highly recommend it!
Tasty meal, however it was very cozy table, the server wasn't very on top of things and for a Saturday night, the restaurant was EMPTY by 9:20pm. Also, the souffle was not a true souffle, but it was very delicious.
Thoughtfully created, delicious food, lovely wine (the Willamette Pinot Noir was perfect!), outgoing and helpful staff in a beautiful setting. What more could we ask for? Thanks!
One of our go too restaurants in Manhattan. Outside dining on a guiet cute street.
Fantastic Brunch & good comfort food.
Our waiter Terrence was a pleasure.
Always a favorite. My friend and I both had the fabulous chicken Cobb salad and iced coffees. Simple, fresh and delicious.
This place has great ambiance and the food is normally top notch.
It’s normally a sure thing. That’s why I was so disappointed that the welcome upon arriving and trying to check in was non-existent. I had to ask around the wait staff.
It was hot in the restaurant. It was hotter outside, but proper AC in NYC in summer is a necessity.
Once we had a table the server was friendly and efficient.
Been here before and loved it. The experience this time was just really off, with the exception of the great server we had.
Delicious meal. Hamburger and Shepherds pie both very good
Great food, wonderful location, intimate setting, quiet street.
I think that we should be alerted in advance that a restaurant does not take American Express. This was a big inconvenience for a dinner that was a business expense and needed to be charged to Amex.
I have been here many times over the years for brunch and have always wanted to have dinner here, but just have never found the time. There were no disappointments just as I expected. I haven't been here in a couple of years so it was nice to see that they haven't skipped a beat. Amazing meal and service! It was the perfect choice for my anniversary.
Might be a new favorite for us. Food was delicious, our server was extremely helpful (and prompt with water/wine refills). Great atmosphere.
This was my second visit—and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I got to the restaurant a little earlier than my friend—sat at the bar, and had a great conversation with Jeff, the bartender—he is a bonus!—dinner was at the bar too; and it was great!
Overall great ambiance for a weeknight get together. Food and service were both great!
This is my second visit to Friend of a Farmer. I will continue to seek it out when I am in NY and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. The food is simple, fresh, local and tasty. The servers know exactly what the ingredients are which is important because we have two people with food allergies in our group. They were able to prepare food for them that they were confident in eating. Just a really great, cozy place. Love it!
Always good service and good food!
Our food was very good, wine a great value. Service was sloppy. Don’t take plates away when someone still eating. Also don’t deliver the entrees when starter still being eaten. Noise was overwhelming.
Very good experience. Server was A+. Food was excellent- fresh and delicious.
We love coming here. The Shepherd's pie was unbelievable. My hubby ate the entire HUGE dish. I had a few bites and was amazed. I had salad and ceviche. Perfectly filling and delicious. The waiter was helpful with suggestions.
Great food, great service, very enjoyable evening!
Casual, outstanding food. Truly get a feeling of freshness and quality. Service was courteous and professional. Had not been there in several years, will be back soon and often.
Love this place and keep coming back. But too too long to greet me as a stood outside and watched 3-4 waiters come and go. Need to at least say someone will be with me shortly. Also got colleague’s order wrong but corrected. Should serve some form of bread/biscuit with omelette
In the past month I had lunch and dinner at Friend of a Farmer.
I’m having lunch here again next week. Need I say more?
It was a very charming atmosphere. But the food was so-so and very expensive.
Our guest arrived first and she was seated in an upstairs corner having to navigate multiple stairs and several narrow corridors. Martini was great: other cocktail was not.
Food is excellent, but our waiter was extremely scarce, and our meal took much longer than necessary because we were waiting for long periods of time before anyone came near our table.
Good clean food. Good service, very good food; I recommend it!
Great food and service. As it states, all of the food is fresh and delicious! It was quiet which was ideal for a date night. Will definitely return soon!
Quiet enough to talk and see one another but full enough to not be awkward. Very quaint, great wine
64 minutes after we ordered dinner it still did not arrive. As we were walking out the waiter had my dinner but not my wife’s. I stopped at the cashier to pay for the 2 appetizers
Warm, country atmosphere defines Friend of a Farmer.
It’s an escape from the city to the country. The food and service is very good. Easy to get to location near Union Square.
Really great, super cozy and inviting. I had the pot pie and it tasted homemade. I had my four year old with me and the staff was incredibly kind to her. We felt welcomed and were treated very well (never sure how it will go with kids in tow). They even brought her a piece of cornbread with applesauce while we waited for our food. Just overall really wonderful. Will definitely go back!
Family get together. We were able to make a same day reservation on OpenTable. Everyone enjoyed their dinner selection. Burger was delish!
Even though there was a large, loud party in middle of room, it was still the rustic, nostalgic, experience
We really enjoyed our dinner at Friend of a Farmer. A friend had left us a gift card, and we had an anniversary to celebrate, so this was a good reason to visit. The menu had many excellent options, and the drinks and wine list were great. I ended up with the special of the evening, filet mignon, and my wife had the scallops. Both dishes were just a tad undercooked, but acceptable, nevertheless and better than overdone. I had a refreshing cocktail, and we shared a nice bottle of red wine. The staff was friendly and courteous and well informed. The ambiance unusually rustic for New York, and if I had one minor complaint, maybe a bit cramped. As a result the tables were a bit too close together, which made it hard for the servers to deliver food and take away dishes, without becoming a bit distracting. But overall, pretty nice!
Great food & atmosphere. James our waiter outstanding!
