For over a century, patrons have found comfort in this historic inn nestled in the heights of the Meadowlands. Opened in the 1870’s as a stagecoach inn, travelers in horse and carriages, riding along Polifly Road (later named Terrace Avenue), stopped here to eat and drink in the tavern below and sleep in one of six guest rooms above. After the turn of the 20th Century the Inn evolved into a fine dining restaurant (a popular speakeasy during Prohibition), but eventually fell into disrepair. In 1996, the restaurant undertook an extensive renovation and on Valentine’s Day of 1997, the Inn once again opened its doors for fine dining, aptly renamed, Ivy Inn. Since reopening, the Inn has witnessed countless marriage proposals, weddings, and anniversary celebrations. Continuing its long legacy of hospitality under new ownership as of 2025, the Ivy Inn remains a Bergen County favorite and continues to promise cherished memories for many years to come.

    We were greeted warmly when we arrived, seated promptly, and our server Ivan was warm and friendly. Our appetizers (meatballs and whipped ricotta crostini) were delicious. Our dinners, Beef Bourguinon (didn't even need a knife to cut the meat) and Chicken Milanese were outstanding. We will definitely be back. Great views of the Hudson River and the sunset.

    Exceptional, high quality restaurant. From the time you enter you are treated as a “special friend” by the staff. Start with a drink at the bar and Victor and Tony will make it perfect. Enjoy the experience. There are few better.
