First time eating here. Our server wasn't very attentive. We each ordered a cocktail & for our entree, we each ordered a pasta. I had to ask for bread & for parmesan cheese for our pasta. When we were finished with our entree all she said was "would we like anything else? not once offering or mentioning items offered for dessert.
My mom chose the spot. I would not have chosen this place because of how few vegetarian options there were on the menu. Our server was not very helpful in adapting the menu to vegetarian, non-dairy options. Beautiful spot. Kind staff. Good food but I only had one meal option
My husband and I visited this restaurant two weeks ago and loved it! We came back today with another couple and they love it!
The outdoor patio was beautiful. Our appetizers came out quickly but we sat a while before our entrees came out. Overall it was great.
Great service and food from this established restaurant
The food, service and experience at Farmer's Bottega is always fantastic, which is why it's one of our favorites!
Food wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. Service light have been
There were six of us dining including 2 with dairy allergies but the server didn't miss a beat in recommending alternatives to standard dish preparations to fit their diets. We all agreed the food was very fresh, innovative, and delicious. The service was friendly while being very helpful and flexible.
My 15 yo daughter and I were on a get-away weekend in San Diego and found this restaurant on Open Table! We went for dinner and fell in love with it! Service was great without being pushy. We might have been a little more casually dressed than others but no one batted an eye.
I had the linguine arriabatta which was deliciously spicy, but not overpowering. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. I also had a glass of the French sauvignon blanc and it was amazing.
My daughter had the crespelle and we both decided she "won" dinner. It was flavorful and cooling to my spicy dish.
When we come back to San Diego we will be back!
Great food! Nice outdoor dining.
We sat on the patio for a wonderfully paced meal with friends. We were fortunate to have 'Alex' waiting on us. She made the event and us feel special. Bottega is rapidly becoming our favorite go-to place in Mission Hills.
Delightful, as always
Short rib was mushy and no flavor. Bit down on aluminum foil which hurt like hell with my tooth filling, was not offered any sort of refund or apology for them leaving it in the food.
Food was so so, drinks were great, ambience was as well.
It was a great experience! I had a nice time with my friends. I enjoyed the time, service, and food at The Bottega!
Loved the grilled chicken and Brussels sprouts! Yummy!
Amazing food, as always. At Farmer’s Bottega, I am always impressed by how good every single thing on the plate tastes; sauces, vegetables are so sweet, garnishes, pasta/rice dishes, meat or fish, etc. Everything is perfectly cooked, as well, which is so important. This is the place we choose to bring out of town guests to San Diego to, in addition to being one of our favorite places to go by ourselves for an excellent meal. The patio ambience is lovely.
My friend and I both brought (well-behaved) dogs and we were sat in the perfect table just off from the main outdoor seating. It was perfect! The food was only eclipsed by the service.
Excellent food and service - the fried green tomatoes are a bit undercooked. The pasta dishes are uniformly outstanding. I had cavatelli with fennel sausage - wonderful sauce. The golden beet salad was very flavorful and fresh with just the right amount of goat cheese. The service was attentive and the orders were accurate - unlike the last time I was here. I am happy to see the improvement!
Quaint little place. Loved it - clean, comfortable, and love the antique decor. Linen tablecloths and napkins, candles - great date night environment. Great service, food, and drinks. I had their beet salad, chicken w/Brussels sprouts and potatoes, and hubby had their potato leek soup and linguini arrabbiata (shrimp dish). Fantastic “good karma margarita’s” (had two 🍸), finished w/Lemon Cello cake (very lemony). All FABULOUS! Street parking can be a little difficult, we were lucky and finally found a place right in front but drove around the block a couple of times before it became available. Loved this little place, we will be back. Also, if you have a big party, they have a patio area in the back that will accommodate.
Excellent service and delicious food! We will be coming back again.
Always a favorite. Fresh food prepared impeccably. Great selections of fresh menu items. The octopus starter is tender and delicious. The lamb ragu pappardelle is outstanding. Atmosphere is typical of Hillcrest.
Went here on a Friday night. We went early and the restaurant was almost empty. During the course of our dinner, the place filled up. The ambiance is nice.
The concept is farm to table and they also have a fantastic wine selection with a broad range of regions and tastes. My wife had a Manhatten and I had the Inscription Pinot Noir - both great-tasting drinks.
I tried to the Pear Bruschetta as a starter. It was very tasty and very fresh. We also had the beets for starters. It was tasty but not as fresh as the bruschetta. My wife had the chicken with fingerling potatoes. That is a big dish and it was tasty. I had the Lamb Chop special with a potato gratin. The lamb was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and the potato gratin was also good.
I had the creme brulee and my wife had the lemon cake for dessert. The desserts were good. We had ordered coffee/cappuccino but it was extremely bitter. Someone, please clean that machine. Damn, that was not a nice tasting cup.
Overall great service, a nice ambiance, and fantastic food (but stay away from the coffee). Certainly coming back.
They were short staffed and it took a little bit to get the food but the servers went over and beyond to make it a better experience. The food was amazing so it was worth the wait!
Farmers Bottega is one of our favorite restaurants. We ate outside and the ambiance was wonderful. The food is consistently remarkable and it is not crazy expensive. The service is paced so that you have tie to talk nd catch up.
The food was absolutely delicious and they were very welcoming of our dogs and thoughtful about placement. We had a great dinner there
Keep Farmer's Bottega on your list for excellent dining. Grilled Squid was excellent. Their "Catch of the Day" - Swordfish/Risotto dish was one of the best I've had in years. My daughter had Braised Short Ribs and and we ordered the Truffle Fries as a side. We all cleaned our plates! Farmer's also surprised us with a slice of lemon cream cake since it was a birthday dinner. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious!! Can't wait to go back!!
Wonderful place. Everything was spectacular. The quality of the food and service were fantastic.
Food was tasty but very expensive. A simple Bottega Salad cost $14 and it did not come with any bread. When we asked for bread, we were charged $3 for a few slices. The waitress doubled as the bartender, so we did not see her very much.
We stopped for breakfast. Good thing. It was a saving experience. Food was excellent. Seasoned to perfection. Prepared well. Everything fresh. Will make it a regular and recommended destination.
Food was great!!! Will definitely come back again!
We always like coming here. Food was nicely prepared, server attentive. We sat in the tented area outside but are ready for indoors again because it’s a nice space.
The Pork Belly and the Fried Green Tomatoes are so yummy!! The lava cake is decadent but not heavy. They are all must tries, you won’t regret it
Excellent food. Good service. A little pricey but it was a good menu with excellent variety of flavors.
Food was excellent
Great service and food!
Boo was amazing! She was great
Everything was wonderful!
The service was spotty- friendly but they just seemed a little understaffed. Very nice ambience and the food was fine but it was a bit overpriced for what it was.
Food was excellent and super fresh. We sat on the patio in the back. Great service and very accommodating.
One of my favorite places to eat in San Diego!
