This is the second timeI attend Chentes. I went a week ago and had soon much fun that decided to attend again this past weekend. I originally had reserved for the second floor but was placed on a table right next to thebans playing and it was a bit much! So decided to go to the rooftop where we were the first time. It is soooo much fun up there! Drinks are reasonably priced. The music was better the first weekend, this weekend at the end was a bit too much hiphop :( But overall we had a great time! Will definitely go again!
Amazing Time it’s a must to return... Great Service!
Everything about my experience here was terrible .. from my mojito being watered down to a fly in my food !! Awful!
Well the night started off bad. To begin with Parking was $40. I get there by 8:45pm because it states that it's free before 9pm and they still charged us $30 for couple because it was a special event and it was free till 8:30pm.
I had reserved an area 20days prior to our event and we go inside and are told that if I wanted that area I had to automatically buy 3 bottles. 😏
The restaurant was closed. Please remove them from open table
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Reservations were made for a holiday business party on a Wednesday since the hours say they are open 5pm-12 am. We arrive 15 minutes before our reservations after paying the 25$ parking fee each only to find they are closed! We then get informed that they are only open Thursday through Sunday but are unable to get a refund for our parking!
After weeks of planning our dinner it was ruined, apparently they don’t take their time to update the operating hours. Never again!
Made reservations only to show and find restaurant closed. Appears only open on weekend. Wouldn't recommend or try again. Live out of area, very disappointing .
I was extremely unhappy, as we made our reservation and got to the restaurant, it was $30 to park, we had to wait in a long line to get to the hostess, only to be told there was a special event, it was a $25 per person cover, and there were no tables available! We just wanted to eat dinner, didn't care about the fight. Further they wouldn't help us with the parking fee. I have no idea if the food or service is any good, but we'll probably never know as we'll never go back. If open table is going to take a reservation they should be honored. If the place is full it shouldn't be available on open table. Bad service by both Don Chente and Open Table
The service in this place is terrible!! It was my first time and I decided to take my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday there because I saw their videos on Instagram. FOOLED ME!! I booked a table for 10 guest, the waiter(Juan) gave us the most terrible service! Took forever to take our first order, then took for ever to bring the drinks! Once we wanted to order a second drink, he was nowhere to be found! My boyfriend had to get up n go to the bar to order drinks there! We wanted to order food n again the waiter had disappeared! Finally we all order at the same time and when the food comes 2 of my guests didn't get their food till the rest of us were almost done!!!! The birthday boy ordered fajitas so they brought them but half way thru his fajita skillet the waiter comes over with rice and beans and says, "Oh sorry, i had forgotten to bring your rice and beans"!!!! I was soooo upset! At this point another one of my guest orders a bazooka and 15 min later the waiter asks if we r ok and he was reminded of the bazooka order and again we get an " Oh yea, i forgot"!! I immediately ask for the manager and to my surprise he's nowhere to be found either! Finally talked to the manager and he offered free drinks to make me happy i guess but it was way too late! Over all the service was TERRIBLE! I DO NOT recommend this place SPECIALLY if your celebrating a special occasion! You will NOT be satisfied!!
we booked our reservation on open table for 530, arrived at 517 and literally no one knew that they were open yet... (opened at 5p) the barstools were up on the bar and the place smelled like cleaners. They looked shocked that it was past open time, but seated us and served us. They don't seem to get many requests for substitutions based on my request for shrimp... but they accommodated me. Food was good, Drinks were superb. Bar service was great!
When we were getting ready to leave around 7, the music & tvs were finally turned on and they looked like they were ready to actually seat people.. slow starters. Maybe they all forgot to drink their coffee that day...?
Definitely not what I expected , food and beverage over priced and food wasn't that great .
This was the worst experience I have had at a restuarant. They had a staff of 3 people running the place. Took them about an hour to get our food and once we were all served we were told they were closed and that we had to leave. Didnt even get to eat our food and were still charged full price.
Our waiter could had been more available to provide service to a party of 20 to 25 he hardly cane to ask if we needed anything.
This place is good to go out dance have drinks with friends and the food is amazing the service was good they can use more hands other then that I will be coming back And recommend this place to family and friends.
Everything turned out great, went in for the Mariachi. Seems like they no longer have Mariachi. I continued to ask the guy in charge at what time was the show going to be on and he just kept moving it up an hour. They never showed, but had good DJ music and later a live band. We still had a great time.
i got charged extra for items we didn't order. we order some seafood plate and instead got charged for a different plate that was twice as much. food wasn't all that great tbh
I decided to celebrate my birthday at Don Chente and had a large group of people attending. Not everyone on my list attended and halfway through my meal I am approached by a manager stating I must pay $25 for each person who did not attend. After discussing that no where in the reservations did it state that he said he wouldn't be charging it this time. It ruined the mood and experience for my birthday and aside from that the service was not good. Food was cold and it took very long for drinks. I would not recommend this establishment due to the unprofessionalism and lack of communication.
Went last night to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. I am so unhappy with don Chente they have Horrible Customer service. We were seated at 8:30pm no menus & waiter took forever to take our order. Food took so long to get & when it did come 3 guest were still waiting awhile for plates. We were a party of 19 & manager said they can't do separate checks. I don't understand why they couldn't & just add the 18% tip for large party. We had to figure out bill 6 credit cards & partial cash payments later we were done with dinner at 11:30pm. 3 hours just to have dinner I'm still shocked. Mariachis were great we did enjoy that but other than that stay far away for this place.
X mas party
We did not know what to expect when we first arrived. There was many options on menu at a very decent price compared to other places we have been to. My husband ordered the Rib loin and I ordered the Salmon both of which were delicious! The spinach mashed potatoes that came with our meals were also great! We will definitely be going back again!
Had 30+ people come in to celebrate a birthday. Service was great!
Dining was great. Rooftop service was soso. Suggestion is a dedicated server to only 1 cabana or more servers over-all. There's a drink minimum is hard to reach if your guests have to go to the bar because they don't want to wait for the server. Fortunately, our server understood and really did do all she could for us. Overall, it was a great night and the birthday boy had no complaints :)
It was a quiet Thursday and they had an event going on, and I was not aware of.
Made reservations for dinner before a concert at Staples Center, not knowing how busy things would be. Sat outside outside on the patio which was nice, but service was spotty since we were furthest from the door. Noisy with the restaurants music, and music from another bar upstairs, but otherwise food was very good!
They were closed :( Not sure if it's for good or just temporarily...open table wasn't aware. We had to go to Los Compadres next door...it was mediocre at best.
Very festive place. Awesome views of Staples and Downtown LA. Fun vibe and the staff will do everything necessary to make you happy. Great place to dine, dance and party.
service was great my plate was very good the atomosphere was good I will be back again
I love the place , great food ! Overall they have Mariachi on Friday , Saturday and Sunday's ! They are open for dinner from 5pm to midnight ! Thank you Don Chente for having me and family . Our server overall was okay .
We went here for a Xmas get together after work and the service was very good. It was the appetizers (Happy Hour menu) that were nothing worth writing about. Definitely would return for the ambiance and the rooftop view of the city! Great drinks too!
Everything was excellent the price is right
Cochinita pibil and mole were delicious
Terrible Food, ghetto clientele, people smoking weed. I will not be returning. I do not recommend.
I will compliment the scenic views of Staple Center and the downtown buildings. The patio and indoor dining area are very classy.
I have been twice, once for Brunch which was pretty mediocre. Pizza looked like it was frozen and Menudo tasted like it was from a can. The Trio (not Mariachi) was very good tho.
For Dinner, the service was terrible. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and our waitress was bad, so bad that she messed up my order (wrong dish) I politely told her this was not what I ordered and she acknowledged that she made a mistake and took the wrong dish, only to bring me the same incorrect dish!! I gave up cuz I was so hungry and it was so late but she acknowledged she messed up twice but just said sorry, no comp dish or any anything despite messing up twice . This ruined my night, Mariachi is amazing but food and horrible service will not make this place last unless they get there act together asap.
Don Chente seemed like a fairly new restaurant that still has potential for more. I made reservations online and did me no good. Upon arriving 30 minutes before the reservation time as recommended, we were still sat at our table 2 hours later. This was a special occasion reservation Mother's Day, however Everything Except the lounge area ruined this special day for my Mother. Did not receive great customer service, hosts were rude and had MANY people waiting to be seated. Many people were complaining about their reservations. Marketing is doing a great JOB! The restaurant in accommodating the amount of people is NOT. The food was not out of this world! and expensive for the small menu. Even considering the fact that we were starving after waiting for so long and coming in on an empty stomach to enjoy the food! I would not recommend this restaurant for dinning. Lounge area is nice with a pleasant view. I will go back to see what the lounge area with be like. No children should be allowed in the lounge area.
I've been to the other restaurant, Don Chente and the service is awful there but, at least, the food is good, the downtown Don Chente is awful. I worked in restaurant business for a decade, so a review like this means the truth... There was nothing worthy, it's awful- wings were recooked, drinks tasted like made from powder, service was slow, pizza was boringly eaten because it was awful.... Just go somewhere else....
