Since 1981 Rainbow Cantonese Restaurant King’s Heath has been one of the finest Chinese restaurants in the area. Even though it used to sit next door to the Hare & Hounds pub, these days you’ll find it on the King’s Heath High Street where it’s an extremely popular Chinese restaurant with locals. The Rainbow Cantonese Restaurant menu consists of over 100 dishes that range from Cantonese-, obviously, to Mongolian- and even Singaporean-style dishes. One particularly popular dish is the jill yuen fish which is lightly battered and tossed in chilli, salt and pepper – simple, but damn good. Rainbow Cantonese Restaurant is worth the trip from wherever you happen to be in this part of Birmingham and even more worth an advanced reservation.

Since then, The Mandarin Restaurant has earned a fantastic reputation and is a warm, fine dining sort of place with excellent staff. Located on Belward Street in Hockley, across the street from the Metropoint Arena Nottingham, The Mandarin Restaurant offers a blend of set menus and an a la carte, including a wide range of delicious soups, mouth watering seafood, fantastic curries and a number of vegetarian dishes. Just how Henrys came to get its name is a bit mysterious, as it is a topflight, slightly formal Cantonese restaurant. Bright and spacious with a relaxed atmosphere, Henrys is decorated in yellows and reds, with Chinese music playing gently in the background. It is very business-entertainment oriented and attracts a professional crowd. What's cooking? Just about every one of your favourites, from sesame prawn toasts to mixed dim sum to won ton to crispy aromatic duck served with pancakes - and those are just the starters. You probably already know what you like, but we do recommend the steamed seabass or dover sole with ginger and spring onions, and the sizzling grilled sliced fillet steak Cantonese style. Many veggie dishes and five set menus.
