Clyde's of Reston calificaciones y reseñas
There featured burger of the month was recommended by our server. I was happy about the choice and trying something new. Service was excellent. There when you needed something and attentive to any special requests or changes to ordered items. I have frequented Clyde’s of Reston for over twenty years. In that time there have been good periods and not so good experiences. That said, the last three visits in the last six months have all been enjoyable, with no complaints. The restaurant is akways well maintained. Chose arable away from a traffic area or a bus station if you like a quieter dining experience. The brownie sundae is definitely made to be shared and delicious.
Special family occasion - party of 5. Reservations spot on - no waiting for busy night. The french onion soup and the clam chowder - always awesome. Steaks were good - I had the filet and one of the family has the New York strip. The entrees were marginal at best - The burger of the month ordered M-Rare came M-Well, the 72 hour Short Ribs were tender but bland and the brussel sprouts were over cooked. Wife wanted the short rib pasta which was discontinued from menu and they refused to be creative and make it. The cannelloni di casa was just awful - daughter ordered desert (apple pie) to fill up and she said it rocked. The milkshakes rock - split the dark chocolate with someone and get a double shot of Kahlua and one shot Jameson! We had one glass of wine each and bill after tip and tax was over $300. We left feeling meh and wishing we would have gone to Mortons.
While our food was wonderful, the waitress was not as available as we would have liked. Generally, this place is very consistent with great service. I had the pork belly dumpling appetizer and the short ribs with polenta. I substituted green beans for sprouts and that was easily done with no upcharge. Nice wine list with good variety.
This was unusual for this restaurant, which is usually excellent. But this time the service was slow with the waitress out of contact with us for last long periods of time, perhaps because the restaurant was understaffed? We were there for 2 hours and should have been able to accomplish everything within 1 hour. In addition, my food was lukewarm when served, detracting from what was potentially a great meal.
Crispy skin left on rockfish gave fish a nasty smell and poor taste. Waitress was friendly but had a table of over 20 people so could not timely serve. Waited 25 minutes before getting cocktail.
Have had better nights at Clyde's in past.
I have been to Clyde's before but this was my worse experience. They just didn't have it together, my steak was tough, didn't get a steak knife, never came back with my drink. But I'll go back and hope to have a better time like I have at other times.
We all Enjoyed our meals very much except for my husband who ordered the horseradish meatloaf. It didn't taste like any horseradish was in it. He requested a cup of the ketsup/horseradish sauce to dip his meatloaf in, but the kitchen should not provide that. The meat itself was very good, just not what he was expecting. The waitress did not charge him for his meal, which we thought was above and beyond necessary, very kind of her. She was extremely professional and courteous throughout our whole meal.
All the food was wonderful. Service was perfect. We took advantage of an AMEX deal: charge $75 to your AMEX at Clyde's, get a $50 credit. Can't beat that... just make sure to sign up for the deal before visiting, and then pay with your AMEX card. (If the deal isn't available when you look, try again in a few weeks, they seem to offer it regularly.)
The place is good and service is great. But the food is just ok, we ordered 4 dishes, only the appetizer is not burnt. The rest dishes has burnt food more or less, even the one for the kid.
Not sure if this is the style of this place, but serving the burnt food does not sound or look good.
Maybe the place is too busy that night.
This visit to Clyde's appears to be an anomaly. The waitress was not good at all, taking too much time to get to us, questioning the bar order I placed as potentially invalid, despite being listed on the menu itself. The appetizer we ordered was decent (Hummus three ways), but my entree was terrible, a substantial amount of grease and cheese covering the poorly prepared pasta and underwhelming amount of tiny cubes of squash that was supposed to highlight the dish itself. This dish is something I was looking forward to, having enjoyed it at several times in the past. However, what was served to me bore no resemblance to my past experiences, thus an utter fail. The manager came and apologized, removed the entree from the bill, to their credit, but the damage was done.
Had a nice evening celebrating the Christmas holiday with a good friend. The restaurant wa crowded, but we expected that since it was the holiday season. It did take time to get our first drink order taken. Once we got established as a table, we had good service. Our main courses were the lamb shank, grilled veal chop, and the Atlantic salmon. Everything was delicious!! They even had carolers from a local high school singing Christmas carols. It certainly made the evening even more festive.
We had a party of five with one guest who was large. We were seated in a very small booth and when asked for a larger booth, the receptionist refused to even entertain a larger booth. After we were seated, the manager came over and we asked if we could be seated in a more comfortable booth. He moved us! I will never go back to this location and I will never recommend it and will be sure to tell my colleagues and friends how we were treated
This used to be one of our regular and reliable go-to restaurants. It was a place where you could get good food, creatively prepared at a reasonable price. The food and service were consistently great. It did not matter if you ordered the burgers, steaks or seafood - the service was fast, friendly and professional and the food arrived hot and well-prepared. As a result, we have dined here monthly for the past 7 years.
However, there is now new host staff, a new (less interesting) menu, a new (harder to understand) wine list, new (inconsistent) servers and I suspect that there is also a new GM and a new chef. After two disappointing visits in the past 60 days, we can say that ---- sadly, Clyde's of Reston has declined dramatically in almost every category. The host team in front does not appear to be well trained or coordinated. When we arrived at our reservation time, one host told us that there would be a 15 min wait. He did this at the same time another "host" called to seat us.
The wait staff has also largely changed, and appears to be unsupervised. Getting water, bread and our drink order took a half hour. When I tracked down someone to ask for more bread it took another 10 minutes. Our hamburgers didn't arrive for another 30 minutes. We ordered 4 hamburgers (1 med rare, 2 med, 1 well) and all came very well done. No one (waiter, GM, water server, etc.) checked on us during the approx. 2 hour ordeal. At the end of the meal I had to get up and track down the waiter to get our check. After another 10 min I had to ask a second time.
These two experiences are very unfortunate, because the former team did a wonderful job - and I prefer to write good reviews. After returning home we looked at other reviews. Unfortunately our experience does not seem to be unusual. Hopefully, they will fix the systemic issues, but our two most recent visits suggest that the best days of Clyde’s of Reston are long gone.
It was unfortunately not good experience and embarrassing when you invite guests and made a confirmed reservation but the Resturant reception personal does not honor it and keep you begging the table for more than hour ! They have no respect to client needs.
We were a table for 10. They never should have accepted the reservation because they were understaffed. The waitress was very nice and tried hard but she just had too many tables to give us the service that we needed. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and refills. Usually, Clydes is pretty good. I feel like the management needed to have considered the consumer experience rather than boosting sales.
