Clyde's of Reston
We had a delightful evening celebrating my daughter's 40th birthday. Our guests included our two grandsons. Most all attendants were lobster lovers, so they all got the lobster special and enjoyed it very much. Clyde's restaurant is dependable and reasonable and nice that it's in the Town Center of Reston. It's very attractive and pleasant.
Their lobster special is a great value and it was delicious! The waiter was very attentive.
The reuben and kids' meals were good. The steak salad was bland, from the dressing to the actual steak. Steak could use a marinade and be from skirt steak.
The worst meal I’ve had in perhaps... ever! Don’t eat the lobster special. They are buying the soft shell “summer” lobsters and pawning them off as 1 1/4 lbs. My filet mignonette was way underdone for medium rare and the onion rings had more fish flavor to them than anything else. Mac’N cheese was very greasy and more bechemel than real cheese. Overall this place is the last place that I would choose to dine. Choice meat, not prime. Poor seafood quality. Overall it’s obvious that the executive chef should be demoted to dishwasher. The most expensive mistake I’ve made in a long time. Stay away.
Food was delicious. Service was okay - alcoholic beverage order took a while, granted we were a group of 9 but almost everyone ordered the same drink, should not have taken as long as it did.
Cheese fondue wasn’t fondue but baked cheese that separated.
We love Clyde’s but we especially love Clyde’s during their annual Lobster special. This year was no different - a high quality Lobster - with the normal high level of service.
My only regret is we only made it once for the special this year!!!
Wait staff was excellent
Today's experience was well below Clyde's norm.
Wait staff was great...but had the Bolognese. Way to much pasta. Had to push push pasta around to get to the bolegnese sauce.
We (5 of us) loved the ambiance, food, service EXCEPT we ALL asked for decaf cappuccinos which came (we thought it was our perfect order) and we all enjoyed, BUT THEY WERE NOT DECAFFINATED!! We all were texting 1:30-2am because none of us could fall asleep that night!!! That is not acceptable!
Love sitting outside on the patio, great weather, great service, great food.
Overall our experience was subpar. Our server was very busy Soups came out cold and had to stand up to get someone’s attention. Entrees were ok and not exactly as described on the menu. Batter on the trout was heavy like a fish and chips. The sauce on the trout clearly sat there a whole and made the fish soggy.
Overall disappointing except for the Cubano which was very good.
The food was very good. Service was confused. Our server was very good but the people who delivered the food were completely at sea.
The hostess and waitress were soprano.
It was a bit disappointing. By 6:00 on a Saturday evening, had already run out of the scallops & grits entree and was out of one of their cake desserts. Typically the waiter will tell you beforehand that they are out of items on the menu, whereas our waiter informed us when we tried to order the items. So, I ordered the monthly special (lobster shepherd's pie) which I've had at various Clyde's locations over the past several years. This entree at Reston was bland. I had to add both salt and pepper to it & I never salt foods in restaurants.
We've been to the Clyde's in Ashburn and had a really good experience there. The service was really good, the staff couldn't have been friendlier, and the food was really good. We decided to try Clyde's in Reston - completely different experience. Our waiter seemed out of touch and not helpful. The food was mediocre. There was little reason we would come back after this experience.
Booths sat too low for all 4 of us and especially 1. They could not reseat us to a table with chairs and had no cushions but did put a chair at end of boothe which was helpful but still not comfortable. Service was slow. Food was so-so.
Service was slow and the restaurant did not appear to be full.
Food tastes good but not impressed with slow waitstaff and small portion of lobster for price.
Also my $13 cocktail most mostly a glass filled to top with ice.
Been there many times and this seemed unusual. Normally great.
Disappointed in two of the three meals in our party. First time I've been so let down by a Clyde's location - and I've been to at least 6, most frequently Chevy Chase.
As always, it was a great dining experience. Lot’s of choices and healthy options too. The cobbler dessert was so good I would go back just for that. Sitting outside also was nice as the weather was perfect. Service was a bit slow but otherwise it was an excellent meal.
Quality of ingredients are sub-par for what you are paying for.
Great service and people, good basic American menu.
Being a born and raised Washingtonian, I have eaten at many Clyde's on many occasions. I say that because I know my experience last week was not usual. My friend and I went to Clyde's for their lobster special, something I make it to every year. We sat outside on the patio . It was just gorgeous. The patio is pleasant with beautiful flowers and so clean. Our waiter was pleasant but he did forget our request for more bread. His recommendation of the Clyde's chardonnay did not disappoint. But the runner kept trying to give us other table's food. He said the orders were being put in for the wrong table, which I had to believe after the third time it happened. Then, for what I think was the first time ever, I was disappointed in the food. We started with a shrimp and heirloom tomato appetizer. I am quite sure it said heirloom. But it was prepared with pretty tasteless cherry tomatoes. And the shrimp tasted really fishy. Not like they had gone bad (no one got sick) but they did not have good flavor. I rarely turn down food but did not take a second shrimp. Then the lobster had an odd consistency. I believe it was a little under cooked. As I said, this is unusual, and maybe its not fair to write this review, but this was my experience. I do however, recommend Clyde's and I will return. If it happens again, maybe not.
Great service and good food we will definitely come back again!
Good solid American casual fare exactly what you expect from Clyde’s.
Put anniversary on the reservation
had to look to locate the waiter several times, food was reasonable yet steak over cooked.
We didn’t care for our meals... we both had roasted chicken but the sides were not good at all and the chicken was too fatty ... too noisy with all the activity in the courtyard and parents not controlling their kids on the patio while others are eating... probably a good family place if you have small kids but not for those trying to have an adult conversation. So we won’t go again
It says on the Open Table website that you can reserve outside for this restaurant. Not true.
Thankfully, there were plenty of seats inside.
Not easy parking esp for handicap. No one looked at are special request. Otherwise, food, server, ambiance all delightful!
Had the worst hanger steak in my life. On my birthday! While i will continue going for happy hours and late night drinks and food, will not order another hanger steak. if that steak was a regular occurance, take it off menu. I suspect a different piece of meat was slipped instead, sirloin perhaps. Chef needs to take lessons with, i dont know, sweetwater tavern perhaps. They make excellent hanger steak, every single time.
Despite having a reservation, it was over 1/2 an hour past our reservation time to be seated.
We sat outside on the patio. It was a busy evening probably due to the summer concert. Service was very slow. One person at our table ordered the beef bolognase (sp?). It arrived and was quite dry. He had to track a waiter down and then had to ask 3 x for extra sauce. By the time the sauce arrived the pasta was stone cold. He chose not to eat his meal. The salmon and chicken were excellent but the poor and slow service spoiled the meal.
My party sat out on the patio for the Saturday concert at the pavilion we felt very fortunate to have been able to sit on the patio for the concert which was outstanding service. My date had to send back her steak because it was undercooked they did take it off the check but that was a little bit disappointing, all in all we had a good time and we're glad we went to Clyde's
Awesome afternoon with family. Great food and attention from service staff.
It was the best of times and it was the worst of times. We were celebrating our guest 2nd wedding anniversary. The men's meals were great and the women who ordered Filet Migon and the Cowboy RibeEye was not good at all .Our First bad meal at Clyde's.
I booked a table for a Saturday at 6. The waiter started out okay but then vanished for 15 minutes. Another server took the order but then the food did not arrive for another hour; 90 min in by this point. The restaurant was not at all full so I am not sure why the kitchen was overwhelmed. To make matters worse, the steaks were pretty tough. I ended up having to cancel my entree and leave my 4 guests while they were still eating since I had run out of time. On a good note, the manager stopped by to apologize and offered a complimentary soup (odd choice) and also charged us less. The two kids’ chicken fingers also came promptly. Good thing since 3 year olds aren’t patient! I was shocked and embarrassed by the poor experience since Clyde’s has always been a favorite of mine precisely because I was always confident that the food and service would be good.
