We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was really rather weak. No bread for the snails, plenty of upselling of wine, and sides, and then the waitress just kept disappearing ... we could see her on her phone... this poor service let down a very good lunch. But would go back although the price of the added extras is hefty.
My son and I had a lovely dinner and received a warm welcome on a very cold night having trudged down here, through the snow, from Sloane Square. Steak & Veal were excellent and the wine delicious. Thanks
Very good restaurant with large, welcoming open grill in the centre of the ground floor. You can watch the chef work his magic with good quality meat and fish. Good French cuisine and decent wine list, although my first choice wasn't available. Certainly one of our neighbourhood gems that we will return to time & again.
Great restaurant. My first time. Will definitely go back
Questionable whether the cocktails had any alcohol in them, which was needed given waitress and manager thought it was funny that the fish looked like it has been de-boned with a mallet (handily leaving the bones in it). The wine was decanted into a carafe that was badly chipped around the rim.
Well received; slightly iterating music but otherwise fine and I have booked again
Whenever we are in London, we visit Cheyne Walk Brasserie...we love the ambience, the staff and of course the food! The fire grilled fish is out of this world...lovely wine list and helpful suggestions...Would recommend!!
Excellent French food - gratifyingly devoid of the nonsensical foams and froths that are found elsewhere. Great ambience and fantastic service
The staff are absolutely lovely- so sweet and friendly! Especially the sous chef Peter and the ladies! Passion fruit martini was amazing- we all loved them. The food was excellent at times but had some over cooked steaks and overly salty meals that were addressed immediately and they did their best to rectify. What they couldn’t rectify they took off the bill which was appreciated. Fish was a big hit.
Would definitely come back!
Our first visit and we will definitely return and great find on our doorstep !
Awesome service (Pauline), great wine recommendation, lamb to die for. Expensive, but well worth it
Great ambience, delicious food, and excellent service. There is a charbroil grill that produces wonderful texture with meat and fish. The setting was very cozy and festive on a cold December evening. It's a perfect place for friends and family to relax and enjoy a warm meal together.
Very good as always. Great value for money
Excellent food, especially meat but service a bit too pushy
We had a late lunch to celebrate a birthday and before going on to a concert. Only people there, so we had wonderful servive and an excellent light lunch. We will go back.
Another fantastic evening, this place never disappoints.
The food is absolutely amazing.... Especially the meet... Outstanding meal in
Very well cooked food - especially the grill which was delicious. Service incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thanks very much.
Fabulous as always. Their steak deal is unbeatable.
The service was fantastic - that certainly must be the first thing I say!
My fiancé had a fantastic meal and the wine was excellent as was the dessert. Unfortunately my starter was extremely disappointing. I have no objection to paying a lot for good food, but £16.50 to be served two tiny scallops and one small king prawn really was rip off! My main course of monkfish was a real disappointment. Perhaps this was down to my personal preference but the flavours were very odd with the monkfish almost tasting 'burned'!? The waiter did offer a complimentary dessert to compensate which was kind and a special effort was made with my fiancé's dessert as it was his birthday.
I am honestly disappointed - I wanted so much to leave a great review and based on the service, menu, ambience and wine it would have been 5 stars... regarding the monkfish, it was down to my personal taste but the size of the starter portion for the price really did leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Much though I would like to give the place another chance, for the sort of money it cost I'm afraid I will head elsewhere in future...
Been here several times for special occasions and one off meals... food is always exceptional and feels special everytime no matter what the occasion. Great staff, they care, it's intimate and the staff know their menu. I ordered my food and simply asked them to serve wine according to the food order which they delivered on... Will continue to go back.
Just a wonderful overall experience - great service and food. The grill is unparalleled!
This is one of my favourite restaurants. Their weekday deals are to die for, excellent value and amazing quality. Can't recommend enough.
Excellent food. Service although very friendly is erratic.
We were really well looked after for a dinner with family and friends. Lovely food in very pleasant surroundings. Thank you.
This place always feels welcoming and reassuring from the moment you step inside. It is cosy without being too small nor pushing tables too near each other. The food is reliably up to scratch - traditional French/International style dishes which stand out because they are simply very well put together (rather than relying on culinary gimmicks). The wine can be a shade pricey but if that doesn't put you off, you'll be treated to some great bottles - the bottle we had the other day immediately had people turning to say just how drinkable it was!
Staff are friendly without overstepping the mark - there were a few moments where it felt they were a little overstretched, but if you're in a relaxed mood it is barely noticeable.
I would definitely recommend this to others looking for a great evening with a few friends and some seriously good food. I look forward to my next visit!
This was surprisingly disappointing. On the one hand, the food was outstanding and the presentation excellent. On the other hand, we continually had to ask for our wine and water to be filled, and service was patchy at best - and the restaurant was not overly busy at all, it was as if the servers didn't look or notice, like no "one" server was responsible for our table? And almost laughably at the end of the meal when I asked for sweetener for my coffee, I was told in a rather imperiously dismissive manner that they don't carry sweetener - so one may infer that if you are diabetic you are not welcome at their restaurant. Ridiculous. The food was excellent, but without good service it's not enough reason to go back.
Best meal we have had since we moved to London. The beef bourguignon was amazing
A long time local favourite in as good for as ever. Highly recommend. 5 out of 5.
I really love this hidden restaurant: the meats are to die for, and the evening was as pleasant as ever
Delicious food, good service, consistently pleasing.
Fav spot for the best beef, lamb and game on the grill. Can't get enuf.
Poor service. Essentially understaffed and lack of pace and experience. Food is good though... just pricey for the service.
Visited Cheyne Walk Brasserie for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere is lovely, but is definitely a place that looks better in the evening when dark lighting hides the wear and tear. The place was empty except for one other table when we arrived which was disappointing. However, the food was pretty amazing, really delicious and interesting flavours. We will be back, but rather in the evening.
Great ambience, friendly service and excellent food
Great food and ambiance. Our lead waitress excellent- knowledgeable and non intrusive.
Our dinner (8:45 pm reservation) was marred by a screaming child at a table in the centre of the dining room. Towards the end of our meal, this child threw a glass across the table, breaking it. When we complained, we were offered the chance to move to an unoccupied room in the restaurant, rather than the party causing the disruption being asked to inconvenience themselves by relocating, or being asked to remove their child, take it outside etc. Other adults in the restaurant were disturbed and indicated that they were bothered by this, not just us. There were no other children in the restaurant except in this particular party, no doubt due to the lateness of the hour.
It is dubious in my mind that anybody has the right to scream in a restaurant and throw dangerous items. It is a dubious proposition that children have more rights than adults or that people who bring children to restaurants have more rights than other people.
The restaurant staff told us they could "do nothing". They clearly could have done "something"; they could have warned these people, they could have relocated them, and then they could have asked them to leave. The staff in the restaurant chose not to take these steps.
It was our reasonable expectation, when we made this reservation for 8:45 pm, that we would be able to be able to enjoy our meal, for which we were paying, in a reasonable environment, without undue disruption from other people. We were not going to McDonalds at lunchtime when one might expect to encounter other people's screaming children. If that is the type of restaurant they intend to run at Cheyne Walk Brasserie I would suggest they change their price point and make clear that they welcome this type of behaviour.
Terrific as usual.
Food, wine and service exemplary.
I scored the restaurant lower on ambience as we were trapped between to very noisy tables, who seemed determined to shout over anyone else in the restaurant.
We've eaten at Cheyenne Walk quite often and this the first time this has happened and hopefully the last time too.
Absolutely superb meal, well cooked, well presented and served, in a great location. Had not been for a while, delighted to find it as good as ever. Loved it
It's our first time back at the Cheyne walk brasserie since our wedding reception six years ago. And it didn't disappoint at all! Food, staff and ambience fantastic. Highly recommended.
