Wait staff were abrasive initially and repeatedly and quite rudely interrupted our conversation. Ultimately we were served by a waitress who had manners suitable to a fine dining restaurant and she was great. Food was actually quite good. Seems like a place to see and be seen, however. Very noisy and a lot of middle aged men trying to look hip, accompanied by unsuitably young ladies wearing very tight dresses. Maybe Tuesdays are Take Your Daughter To Dinner night, not sure. That said, Georgetown has better options.
Cafe Milano is a lovely restaurant with delish food and ambience. It is a bit noisy but manageable. I took my son and family to Cafe Milano for his 40th birthday. I requested a round table for 10 and got it. It was located in the back of the restaurant where it was quieter. Our server was courteous and attentive. My son was given a birthday dessert with a big sparkler on top. A great time was had by all. My only complaint would be the price tag: quite expensive. Still, I'd go back for a special occasion.
Service was terrible and the restaurant was incredibly loud! It was a real disappointment to the Cafe Milano I know and love. I will not be going back anytime soon sorry to say!
Love this place Newt Gingrich came strolling in with his wife for dinner.
Real Italian food, a rare treat in "Italian" restaurants in America.
Good wine by the glass, another rare treat.
dover sole was just ok. noise level was impossible
My fiancée and I came in on a Thursday night to celebrate our upcoming wedding on Saturday. Cafe Milano did an excellent job making us feel welcome from the moment we came in the door. I had a couple excellent Old Fashioneds at the bar and then ordered the burrata appetizer and lobster linguine entree for dinner. Both were excellent. My fiancée had the walnut salad as an appetizer and the veal and spinach ravioli as an entree. She loved both of them. We split the tiramisu for our dessert. It was delicious. We love eating here and plan to return again in the future.
I think this is a very nice place where you can spend a pleasant time for dinner. A bit expensive (but prices are clearly reported so no surprise). Nothing to say about quality of food. Not abundant the quantity.
If you want to go just so you can say you have eaten at Cafe Milano - go for it. The food was very good, the location is great, the service is fabulous, etc. etc. It's just really expensive. And while it's good - it's not worth the price. If money isn't an object - then go for sure!
We are all Keto Low Carb, and we were able to have amazing green vegetables and gorgeous steak with very good olive oil! The octopus was outstanding in a parley green sauce!
Too much noice and it took much too long to get the food.
No go. Never come back
College send off
Cafe Milano is every bit that special occasion restaurant. The service, excellent; the food really good and beautifully presented; the wine, excellent....... but the prices and the noise level are not for everyone. It is not really a romantic place, though the service was so very good. Unlike some restaurants of this caliber, they did not bring little morsels of this or that to taste. They did bring biscotti at the end (free) because the after-dinner wine ordered was not actually available. In any event, I'm so glad to have been a guest at this special DC restaurant. If only other guests came dressed for the occasion.
Outstanding cuisine and service.
Cafe Milano is a place you can rely on to be high quality and sophistication!
We had a wonderful date night here
Our first visit and it was every bit as exquisite as we expected. A D.C. must....
I love this restaurant and have been here twice in the last month. Food and service and on the first lunch was superb- the second time was not as good as the first. Which could have just been location and wait staff. Pasta was too Al dente - hard to chew. I would still come back as it could have been an off day.
Excellent value during Restaurant Week. A bit pricey, otherwise. But first rate food and service all the time.
Best Italian in DC hands down and best service as well.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Recommend anyone looking for a classic Italian cuisine.
It's such a pleasure to see men (waiters, maitre d's in suits) in suits. It enhances the whole experience.
Surprised my wife for our 35th anniversary. When we walked in they congratulated us on our anniversary and brought complimentary glasses of champagne to mark the occasion. The food was outstanding and only out done by the service. They recommended seating outside which was a wonderful choice given the outstanding weather. Once we finished our meal, they offered a tour of the entire restaurant including the second floor private dining area. The comment made was “since you sat outside you didn’t get to see the inside of the restaurant so how about I give you a tour?”. They certainly went above and beyond and I recommend this place to everyone looking for great food and even greater service!
Café Milano is and has been in institution in DC for over 25 years. I’m Italian originally and can tell you that the food there is outstanding and all the pastas are cooked perfectly “ al dente “ that way it’s supposed to be. It’s classy, trendy and has a really nice outdoor dining area for those days that dining al fresco is a must! I’ve been a client of this establishment for 25 years and all of the people who work there have been employed for years and they go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasurable experience.
My husband and I ate here for dinner before a show at The Kennedy Center. Cafe Milano is my favorite place to eat in DC! The service is always wonderful and I've never had a bad meal there. I can't wait to go back!
Exceptional food and service with very attentive staff.
Fabulous selection of wines, wonderful outdoor dining, superior staff and service.
The wait staff must be so used to serving famous people that if you’re a tourist or a normal person they put you into the corner and forget about you. The appetizer was bad and the food was overpriced and not very good. The wait staff both ignored us and was condescending.
Always a wonderful experience. Food and service is excellent. A special place.
Experienced my first visit to Cafe Milano which is located in a very nice area of Georgetown. The restaurant is beautifully designed; light and airy - with a delightful, courteous and professional staff. We had a beef carpacchio appetizer which was delicious. While I had a standard signature menu item - the pasta with marinara sauce and lobster - which was outstanding, my two dinner companions were not as satisfied with the quality of their means which were specials of the day. One had a pasta with mushrooms and truffle and the other had the gnocci stuffed with smoked mozzarella. Given the reputation of Cafe Milano and all it has to offer, perhaps effort should be made to reduce the number of specials du jour and focus on creating just a few spectacular ones.
Thanks for making my wife's Birthday extra special.
From the flowers on our table, the champagne and wonderful Birthday desert.
Cafe Milanos attention to detail was magnificent.
By far the best Italian restaurant in the city, in which there are very few restaurants that are not Italian- American versions: Huge main course pastas, lots of glop in main courses, etc.
Service was quite slow. They couldn't honor the reservation and asked to wait for about 10min.
Professional, attentive and warm ambiance and service. Always our go-to place for an impeccable evening.
It was my daughter’s birthday and she was wished a very pleasant happy birthday from hostess immediately. Was seated and glasses filled quickly. Waiter also surprised her with dessert and candle.
Wonderful service and food! Good energy. Definitely one of my favorites.
Just fantastic!! Service was the best, the food the best! We were a group of 9 sitting outside and everything was outstanding - we enjoyed the evening so much.
Very great place overall. Will not be last time we go.
Wonderful, gracious host and staff.
