Cafe LuMar calificaciones y reseñas
Excellent, authentic Croatian restaurant, with delicious original classics and more, with a Mediterranean twist. Great service and very friendly owner/staff. My family and I all ordered something different so we could try some of the main entrees. The “Sarma”, the seasoned “Lamb Shank”, and the Breaded Pork Schnitzel” plate, along with “Lumar Platter” appetizer, salads, and soups, were all outstanding! And even better topped off with an iced cold Croatian beer! I would highly recommend Cafe LuMar! We had a wonderful evening! Thank you!
Very cosy place. First time but won't be the last. Authinic Croation food. And family run, Bruno nephew of the owner was our waiter. Took the time to explain dishes. Food delicious. We shared the goulash and stuffed cabbage, loved it. If you are imbibing try the Sangria. Lots of fruit, yum.
This is a very special place. It is an unassuming, friendly neighborhood place in a quaint and picturesque part of town. The food is superb, and the waiter (Bruno) is the best! We had a bottle of Croatian white wine, which surpassed all expectations. Then came the delightful surprise when the musicians walked in: a violinist and guitarist, who serenaded us magically, creating an ambience seldom to be had in this country. This is a keeper!
I had the shrimp linguini dish and it was creamy and very tasty. The shrimp were cooked just right, and not rubbery, and the veggies in the dish were al dente and not overcooked. A flavorful meal. The house wine was fine. The dessert of blueberry crepe was a bit too sweet for me, but still had alot of flavor. There were alot of blueberries in it! The American coffee was not very good, so I suggest using a Kuerig or real pot for coffee, as it tasted like instant and was not to my liking. The Croatian coffee is stronger but has much better flavor. The lentil soup was delicious and freshly made, and the toast is a nice touch to this dish, along with the fresh pepper tamponade. The service is friendly and one of the owners. If you have a question or comment, just tell her and she will take care of it.
The food here was fantastic, lingering charm in your mouth. Exotic yet flavorful. Service could be a bit slow, there only one waitstaff running up and down for everyone, but food came out relatively quick. Waitstaff was very nice and affable. Great experience dining here. Would definitely come back again.
My friends and I enjoyed our meal. The waitress was friendly and helpful, if a bit overworked. It is quite a small space, and most of the tables were occupied, with only one waitress. I've never been to Croatia, but the food was interesting and tasty. The shrimp linguini was a bit too creamy for one of our party,,but it is served that way in many Italian restaurants too. The wines were good, even if the choices were few. I would go back.
We had gone to a matinee in East Pasadena to celebrate our birthdays and wanted to go to dinner afterwards. I was looking for something unique and stumbled on Cafe LuMar. I was very pleased it was not in Old Town, so we didn't have to deal with parking issues there. I had never tried Croatian food, but we like many types of ethnic food so we thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant is really tiny, but has a few comfy booths. We were the only people in there at the time, which usually makes us uncomfortable, but the waitress was very welcoming and friendly. It was a cold evening, so we started with the Goulash Soup, which was really good. We didn't order a salad, but we were brought a dinner size cabbage salad, which had a wonderful, tangy dressing. For his entree, my husband had Dragica's Chicken, which is chicken breast with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. We both loved it. I had the Chevapi Dinner, which is minced beef kebabs served in a pocket bread with onions and tomatoes and a very flavorful red pepper relish. The meat is similar to a lula kebab, but the flavors are not quite the same. I really enjoyed it. The bread is described on the menu as pita bread, but it is so much better! It is really puffy, more like flatbread, but with a pocket. Portions were plenty large. We each ate half our dinner and happily took home leftovers. Although we don't usually have dessert if we've already had soup or salad, we couldn't pass on one of the sweet crepes. The waitress recommended Visnja's Delight, which is flambeed blueberries and strawberries on a bed of cream cheese. It was fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed Cafe LuMar. Although not a fancy restaurant, Cafe LuMar is a great neighborhood gem. We had reservations, and although we didn't need them on the night we were there, I would recommend having them, as the restaurant is really tiny. We would not hesitate to go back when we're in the area.
We were on our way to Palm Desert and I found this restaurant in open table. It was cute and our server I believe was also the cook. She could not have been more attentive. Unfortunately neither my husband nor I loved our meal. It could've been what we ordered but it wasn't as good as we had expected.
